Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics 2010;30(11):1101-1104
Objective To discuss clinical features and surgical treatment of the coexistence of cervical, thoracic and lumber degenerative disease. Methods From January 2004 to December 2008,79 cases with the coexistence of cervical, thoracic and lumber degenerative disease were surgically treated, including 51 males and 28 females, aged from 30 to 80 years(average,58.1 years). All 79 cases presented coexistence of cervical, thoracic and lumbar compression symptoms, such as limb numbness, weakness, zonesthesia and positive Hoffmann and Babinski sign.Forty-one cases mainly presented cervical symptoms,5 presented thoracic symptoms and 12 presented lumbar symptoms.According to affected segments,41 cases received cervical operations,5 cases received thoracic operations,12 cases received lumber operations, and 21 cases received two parts operations.Surgical outcomes were evaluated by Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)score. Results JOA score of all cases improved in varying degrees. The improvement rate of received cervical operation was 66.06%±14.33%,and that of received mere thoracic operation was 56.19%±9.85%,and that of lumbar operation was 63.49%±9.78%.Twenty-one cases received tow parts operations.Forteen cases received one-stage two parts operations with improvement rate of 76.78%±3.94% and 7 cases received twostage two part operations with improvement rate of 71.79%±8.74%.Conclusion The coexistence of cervical, thoracic and lumber degenerative disease is a kind of complex disease, which involves multi-segments and presents various clinical manifestations. The condition was caused by disk herniation, spinal stenosis and ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament and hypertrophy or ossification of ligamentum flavum. The optimal surgical procedures should be selected by integrated judgment of symptoms and imaging manifestations.
3.Advances in imaging and pathological research on extramural vascular invasion of rectal cancer
Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery 2016;15(8):847-850
Extramural vascular invasion(EMVI)was defined as the presence of tumor cells within an endotheliumlined vessel beyond the muscularis propria.High-resolution MRI had 100%sensitivity and 89%specificity in identification of large(caliber greater than 3 mm)EMVI with histopathology as reference.EMVI detected by both histopathology and MRI was significantly associated with local recurrence, distance metastasis and tumor-related death in rectal cancer, which was also identified as an independent prognostic factor for 3-year tumor-free survival and overall survival.EMVI could be used as one of the risk factors, which would allow stratification of patients with rectal cancer to receive neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy(neoCRT).Moreover,EMVI detected by high-resolution MRI was identified as an independent predictor for response to neoCRT.Tumor regression grading scale defined by high-resolution MRI could be used to evaluate EMVI regression after neoCRT.

6. Acetylcholine protects high glucose-induced H9c2 cell injury by inhibiting autophagy
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2019;35(7):1008-1013
Aim To study the effects of acetylcholine (ACh) on high glucose (HG)-induced cardiomyocytes injury. Methods H9c2 cells were treated with HG for 72 h to establish a model of HG-induced cardiomyocyte injury. The experiment was divided into control, HG group, HG + ACh(10~4 nmol • L"1) group, HG + ACh+ AICAR (0.5 nmol • L"1) group, HG + ACh + Rap(50 nmol • L'1) group, and HG+3-MA (2 mmol • L"1 ) group. Cell viability was evaluated by MTT and ATP assay. The expressions of autophagy, apopto-sis and AMPK-mTOR signaling pathway were detected by Western blot. The number of autophagosomes in each group was observed by transmission electron microscopy. Results Compared with control group, the ratio of LC3-II/LC3-I , p-AMPK/AMPK decreased (P < 0. 05), and the ratio of p-mTOR/mTOR and Bax/Bcl-2 increased in HG group (P <0. 05). Compared with HG group, the activity of cardiomyocytes in HG + ACh group increased, the ratio of LC3-D/LC3-I , p-AMPK/AMPK, Bax/Bcl-2 decreased (P < 0.05), the ratio of p-mTOR/mTOR increased (P < 0. 05 ) , and the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 decreased in HG + 3-MA group. Compared with HG + ACh group, the p-AMPK/AMPK and p-mTOR/mTOR increased in HG + ACh + AICAR group (P < 0. 05 ) , LC3-U/LC3-1 was elevated ( P < 0. 05 ) , and the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 increased in HG + ACh + Rap group. Conclusions ACh inhibits autophagy through the AMPK signaling pathway to protect HG-induced cardiomyocytes injury.
7.Pseudotemporal lobe epilepsy
Chinese Journal of Neurology 2021;54(5):514-518
Pseudotemporal lobe epilepsy refers to an electroencephalogram (EEG) ictal pattern that is localized to the temporal region and the clinical ictal symptoms like the temporal seizure, especially mesial temporal seizure. But the epileptogenic zone is on the extratemporal regions. It is not easy to diagnose pseudotemporal lobe epilepsy. There are difficulties to detect by scalp EEG, and stereoelectroencephalography is usually required for epileptogenetic zone localization. Pseudotemporal lobe epilepsy almost is refractory for antiepileptic drugs. But the situation is illustrated by the failure of temporal lobe surgery resection alone. Therefore, the good result is often obtained after an epileptogenic zone and symptomatic zone resection.
8.Effect of 99Tc-methylenediphosphonate on cytonike-induced activation of retroocular fibroblasts with Graves ophthalmopathy
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;30(9):830-833
Background Graves ophthalmopathy is generally considered to be an organ-speeifie autoimmune disease. It was reported that 99Tc-methylenediphosphonate (99Tc-M)P) has therapeutic effect on Graves ophthalmopathy, though the mechanism has not been completely delineated. Objective This study was to explore the effects of 99Tc-MDP on the proliferation of retrooeular fihrohlasts (RFs) hyaluronic acid (HA) synthesis, and the expression rate of human leucocyte antigen-DR (HLA-DR) and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in cultured RFs.Methods Retroocular connective tissue was obtained from 2 eyes with Graves ophthalmopathy during the orbital decompression surgery.RFs were cultured with explant culture method in DMEM medium with 20%fetal bovine serum. The cells of 2-7 generations were used in the study.Interferon γ (IEN-γ),interleukin-1 (IL-1),tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) was added in medium for 72 hours to stimulate the growth of the RFs,and then 10,100 and 1000 mg/L 99Tc-MDP was respectively used to co-culture the cells with IFN-γ,IL-1 or TNF-α.3H-TdR incorporation was used to detect the proliferation of RFs,and synthesis of HA,expression rate of HLA-DR and ICAM-1 in RFs were assayed by radio-immunoassay and flow cytometry, respeetively. Results Cultured cells showed the fibrous shape under the inverted microseope with the positive response for vimentin and absent response for cytokeratine. After addition of TNF-α,IFN-γ and IL-1,the proliferation value of RFs,HA level, the expression rate of HLA-DR and ICMA-1 in RFs was (4918.33±297.91) counts/min,(505.83±41.29)mg/L,(56.88±14.67)% and (63.57± 14.11)% respectively, showing significant differenee in comparison with normal control group(P<0.01).However,after co-culture of >100 mg/L 99Tc-MDP with TNF-α,IFN-γ and IL-1,the proliferation value of RFs,HA level, the expressing rates of HLA-DR and ICMA-1 were significantly lower than those in the TNF-α,IFN-γ and IL-1 only culture groups(P<0.01),but were still higher than those in the normal group. Conclusions 99Tc-MDP can suppress cytonike-induced activation and growth of RFs derived from Graves ophthalmopathy in vitro at a dosedependent manner.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2015;50(5):535-540
Development of liver fibrosis is closely associated with angiogenesis and abnormal vascular remodeling. Recent studies have highlighted the importance of angiogenesis and vascular remodeling in fibrogenesis, the results that inhibition of angiogenesis is effective in suppression of liver fibrosis demonstrate that therapies with several molecular targets against angiogenesis, inflammation and fibrosis might be beneficial for the treatment of cirrhosis. However, there is some evidence that inhibition of angiogenesis can even worsen fibrosis. This article outlines recent advances regarding the interplay between inflammation, angiogenesis and fibrogenesis in terms of cellular and molecular mechanisms, and suggests a requirement of greater understanding to intervene in these key processes, such as liver sinusoidal endothelial cell fenestration and impact distinct chemokine actions driving monocyte migration and differentiation, for therapeutic benefit in the future.
