International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2010;32(6):498-499
Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of shuxuetong injection on acute ischemic stroke. Methods A total of 120 cases were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, with 60 cases in each. The treatment group was treated with Shuxuetong injection, 6ml added into 250ml sodium chloride injection, once daily; and the control group was treated with Mailuoning injection, 20ml added ionto 250ml sodium chloride injection, once daily. The course of treatments lasted 10 days. Neurologic impairment and the changes of TCM syndrome were observed. Results The efficiency was 61.7% and 43.3% in the treatment group and the control group respectively. TCM Syndrome was obviously improved in the treatment group. Conclusion Shuxuetong injection was safe and effective on AIS.
2.Tumor stem cells and glioma initiating cells
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2000;0(08):-
The tumor stem cell theory supposed that tumor stem cells are the origin of tumor abnormal proliferation, invasion, metastasis, drug resistance and recurrence. As the theory is put forward,it redefines the functions of classic stem cells in tumorigenesis. It is a great event for recent studies on glioma initiating cells as brain tumor stem cells were identified and isolated successfully.A lot of evidence from experiments in vivo and in vitro demonstrates that brain tumor stem cells might play an important role in glioma tumorigenesis. In this review,we discuss the relationship between tumor stem cells and tumorigenesis, and the research on the correlation between brain tumor stem cells and glioma genesis.

Objective To investigate the protective effects of Proteasome inhibitor MG132 on ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) after pancreas transplantation in rats, and the possible mechanism.Method Fifteen normal SD rats were allocated into the sham operation group. In the allogenic male SD rats, the model of pancreas transplantation was established. The recipients were divided into another two groups (n =15 each) at random:IRI group and the MG132 pretreatment group.Serum amylase level was determined at 1,3 and 6 h after the operation.Pancreas samples were harvested at the same time for pathological study by light microscopy. The expression of NF-κB P65 protein in the pancreas was detected by using Western blotting. The expression of TNF-α and ICAM-1 in the pancreas was detected by using immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR.Result Tissue damage on IRI group was more severe than in sham operation group. The level of serum amylase, and the expression of P65,TNF-α and ICAM-1 were higher in IRI group than those in sham operation group (P<0.05).Tissue damage in MG132 pretreatment group was milder than in IRI group. The level of serum amylase, and the expression of P65,TNF-α and ICAM-1 were lower in MG132 pretreatment group than in IRI group (P<0.05).Conclusion MG132 pretreatment can alleviate the pancreas IRI after pancreas transplantation, probably by inhibiting the activation of NF-κB,and the inhibition effect can down-regulate the expression of TNF-α and ICAM-1.

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2009;31(4):307-308
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of periodical treatment of Sanjiexiaopi decoction on hyperplasia of mammary gland during premenstrual phase. Methods 110 cases were randomly recruited into a treatment group and a control group with 55 case in each group. The treatment group was given Sanjiexiaopi decoction 7 days before menstruation, and the control group was given Rupixiao tablet. Both groups received no treatment during menstruation and were treated for three months. Patients in both groups underwent molybdenum target X-ray photographs and infrascan before and after the treatment. Therapeutic effects of the two groups.were compared. Results The total effective rate was 96.4% and 81.8% in the treatment group and the control group respectively. The patients in treatment group showed obvious improvent than the control group in terms of X-ray photographs and infrascan, having statistical significance (P<0.05) . Conclusion Sanjiexiaopi decoction has obvious effects on hyperplasia of mammary gland during premenstrual phase.

Objective To investigate the effects of different head positions during operation on wake-up time and quality among ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients with thoracolumbar kyphosis following pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO).Methods Sixty patients were included in this study. All of them, treated with intravenous anesthesia, took the bow-prone position. The patients were randomly divided into two groups:the experiment group where the head was elevated by 10° and the control group where the head was not elevated. The two groups were compared in respect of wake-up time and quality of wake-up test. Results The wake-up time in the experiment group was significantly shorter as compared to that of the control group (1 3.7±2.0 min vs.24.2±2.7min,P<0.05).The wake-up quality was better as well. Conclusion Elevation of the head by 10° can shorten wake-up time and improve the quality of wake-up test during the procedure of PSO for AS patients with thoracolumbar kyphosis.

Objective To establish the quality standard for Xiaozhong Tablets (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Pheretima, etc.). Methods TLC was performed to Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Pheretima, Ursolic acid. The content of Aconitine was identified by TLC. HPLC was used to determine Strychnine content. Results The characteristic for identification by TLC was distinct and hightly specific. The quantification method of Strychnine had the linear range of 0.52~1.56 ?g (r =0.9998). The average recovery was 99.9% (RSD=1.77%, n =5). Conclusion The methods of identification and quantification were accurate, realizable and reproducible. It can be used effectively for the quality control of Xiaozhong Tablets.

Journal of Environment and Health 1992;0(02):-
Objective To study the effect of bisphenol A (BPA) and dibutyphthlate (DBP) treated with Rat Liver S9 on proliferation MCF-7 cells. Methods Added the positive control 17?-estradiol (E2) and compounds of BPA and DBP with the effect of Rat Liver S9 to MCF-7 cells proliferation respectively and determinated the quantity of MCF-7 cells with MTT assay. Results The activity of E2 and DBP stimulated MCF-7 cells decreasing significantly with the effect of Liver S9 than without the effect of Liver S9, while BPA stimulated MCF-7 cells increasing significantly with the effect of Liver S9 than that without the effect of Liver S9. Conclusion E2 and DBP have a lower estrogenic activity with the effect of S9 than without the effect of S9. BPA shows a higher estrogenic activity with the effect of S9 than without the effect of S9.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(01):-
Aim To observe the protective effects of total saponi ns of tribulus (TST) on cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury in rats. Meth ods Rat cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury was induced by middle cer ebral artery occlusion .The neurological outcome was evaluated. CK, LDH and NO a ctivity in serum,SOD and MDA levels of cerebral tissue were measured. Re sults The levels of CK,LDH,NO,SOD and MDA in TST(30 mg?kg -1,1 0 mg?kg -1) groups were significantly lower than those in model group. The level of cellular and intercellular edema was reduced markly in the pathomorpho logy examination. The neurological deficits was decreased by TST.Conclus ion TST has protective effects on cerebral ischemia reperfusion injur y in rats.
