Objective To establish a mathematical model for describing and predicting the effectiveness of physical therapy on lumbar disc hernation(LDH).Methods Daily comprehensive physical therapy interventions including lumbar traction, mobilization and physical agents were administered to 31 LDH patients for 10 sessions.A visual analogue scale was used to measure the pain intensity before each session. The logistic curve model was used in the regression analysis. The first 2 to 9 pain measurements were involved in different predictive models, and the predictive results were compared among different models. Results In regression analysis, the global R2 was 0.719.In predicting analysis, the more measurements involved in the predictive model, the more effective the prediction. The predictive power was low when the model included less than 4 measurements.the prediction power was high when more than 5 measurements were used in the model. Conclusion The logistic model can describe and predict the effectiveness of multiple physical therapy on LDH patients.

s Objective: To study the feasibility of allogeneic tra ns plantation of myoblasts of SD rats for the reconstruction of facial muscle de fects. Methods: Myoblasts obtained from the forelimbs and hindlimbs of neonatal SD rats were purified and cultured. 5?10 4 myoblasts w ere seeded onto each of type Ⅰcollagen sponges in the size of 1.5 mm?0.8 mm? 0.5 cm. The myoblasts/sponge constructs were transplanted into the facial muscl e defects of syngeneic mutured rats and observed with microscopy, immunohistoche mistry and electromyography (EMG).Result:Myoblasts attac hed and kept alive on type I collagen for at lest 3~4 days in culture. 4 and 8 w eeks after transplantation, muscle like tissue with blood vessles was observed i n the implants. Expression of actin and myosin in the implants was similar to th at in the control muscle.8 weeks after implantation, the spike wave (mV) on the g rafted side and control side was 0.7?0.3 and 2.7?0.6 ( P

Journal of Practical Stomatology 2001;0(03):-
Objective:To prepare an acellular matrix from trachea of rabbits and SD rats, and to investigate its biocompatibility. Methods: A modified detergent and enzyme link extraction procedure was performed to remove cells from the trachea of SD rats and rabbits. The histology, topography of inner-surface and biocompatibility were studied by morphological observation, cell culture and in vivo transplantation respectively. Results:The acellular trachea matrix did not inhibit the growth and amylase secretion of allogenic salivary gland cells cultured on it.The allogenically transplanted acellular trachea matrix did not result in inflammation reaction of the host tissue, could integrate with surrounding tisses. Conclusion:The acellular trachea matix is biocompatible.

Objective:To study the effects of isoproterenol(Iso) on the proliferation of cultured submandibular gland cells of SD rats. Methods:Submandibular gland cells of SD rats were primarily cultured. The cells were exposed to Iso at 10 -3 g/L continuously for 8 days or intermittently(2 h each day for 8 days). The cell proliferation was sutdied by bromodeoxyuridine Brdu labeling and cell counting. Results:Iso increased cell proliferation(P

Objective To study the value of MR perfusion-weighted imaging(PWI)after administration of acetazolamide(ACZ)in evaluating the cerebrovascular capacity. Methods MR perfusion-weighted imaging were performed before and after ACZ administeredorally in 7 cases with cerebral infarction. The values of rCBV and rMTT were analysed and the cerebrovascular capacity were evaluated. Results The prolonged rMTT was found in rMTT map before and after ACZ in all cases.Only 5 subjects were abnormal at rCBV map visually.rMTT was increased at the abnormal region on rMTT map.The abnormal regions at rCBV maps included both rCBV increased or decreased. The abnormal region was larger at rMTT map than that at rCBV map. Conclusion MR perfusion-weighted imaging with ACZ test has significant value in assessing the cerebrovascular capacity.

OBJECTIVE To discuss the relation between the fungal infection and differential leukocyte count, fever and death rate, for progressing clinical diagnosis and therapy in fungal infection. METHODS The patients were divided into septicemia groups, lung infection groups, biliary tract infection groups, nerve center and local urinary tract groups, intestinal tract groups, and normal control groups. And the differential leukocyte count, and fever and death rate were analyzed. RESULTS The Aspergillus,Candida and Cryptococcus were occupied 90.8% for deep fungal infection, and the Aspergillus caused patients death rate to 88.9%;fungal infection for septicemia, lungs, biliary tract caused patients fever rate was to 100%,but urinary tract, intestinal tract and nerve center behaved variously. For lungs the Aspergillus and Penicillium caused differential leukocyte WBC count had high than the control signficant difference,P0.05. CONCLUSIONS The deep fungal infection caused higher patients fever rate, and the Aspergillus and Penicillium caused higher differential leukocyte count, but deep and local yeast was not.Currently the Aspergillus,Candida and Cryptococcus are three main opportunistic infected fungi.

Objective:To study the clinicopathological features of mixed epithelial and stromal tumor of the kidney(MESTK). Methods:Clinical and pathological characteristics of one case of MESTK was stu-died. Results:A case of MESTK which uncommonly occurred in a 16-year old adolescent male presented with dysuria and a large mass in the right renal region without a history of estrogen/progestogen treatment and/or obesity or urogenital surgery. Radiology revealed a large cystic/solid mass within the right kidney. Grossly, it was well demarcated and had a solid and cystic appearance on sectioning. Microscopically, the tumor was composed of a mixture of stromal and epithelial components. The epithelial component was composed of flat to columnar cells forming glands or tubules. The stromal components essentially consisted of bland, loosely packed spindle cells in an edematous and myxoid background. In some areas, there were smooth muscle cells forming bands and fascicles but no ovarian-type stroma was present. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that the epithelial components were positive for AE1/AE3 and focally positive for estrogen receptor(ER),progesterone receptor(PR), CD10 and Vimentin, whereas the stromal components were positive for ER, PR, Desmin and smooth muscle actin(SMA). Both epithelial and stromal components were negative for HMB-45, S-100,?-inhibin and WT-T. Five months after resection, the patient was well without evidence of recurrence. Conclusion:MESTK occurred in a pubertal male, as in the current case, supports the hypothesis that proliferation of remnants of the primitive mesenchyme in the kidney in situation of sex-steroid abnormity may play an important role in the pathogenesis of male MESTK.
