1.Research Progress of Galectin in Mchanism of Venous Trombosis
Journal of Kunming Medical University 2016;37(7):126-130
Galectins are a family of carbohydrate-binding proteins that have a high affinity to galactosides on cell surfaces and extra cellular glycoproteins. They are involved in a variety of biological functions, including modulation of cell apoptosis, cell activation and inflammation. Our laboratory has recently identified galectin-3 binding protein (Gal-3BP) as being up-regulated in a microparticle proteomics analysis for deep venous thrombosis (DVT) patients compared to negative controls.P-selectin,another glycoprotein involved in thrombus propagation, has been proved as a promising target for DVT management and has been widely studied by our group.Galectins are involved in P-selectin expression and can potentially be implicated in the venous thrombogenesis process.Interleukin-6,as an important cytokine of body, which have been found in the study of inflammation for venous thromboembolism, may be an important factor for the frmation of VT.Research shows gal3bp:gal3 plays a critical role in VT,likely via IL-6 Promote thrombosis. The function of galectins, their role in inflammation and thrombosis as well as their potential implications as a new pharmacological target for DVT management are reviewed in this manuscript.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the preoperative utilization of antibacterial in orthopaedic patients in our hospital. METHODS: The preoperative use of antibacterial in 300 orthopaedic patients in our hospital in 2008 was reviewed. RESULTS: Of the 300 patients in our study, 100% of them were recieved preoperative antibacterial. Two of the most widely used antibacterials were clindamycin and cefuroxime sodium. The use of antibacterial in 228 patients were overtime after operation (76.00%), of which the use of antibacterial in 161 patients in type Ⅰ incision exceed 24 hour(70.61%), 56 patients in type Ⅱ incision exceed 2 days(24.56%) and 11 patients in type Ⅲ incision exceed 7 days (4.82%). CONCLUSION: The usage of preoperative antibacterial was inappropriate and the duration of administration is too long, which should be standardized.

Objective:To investigate the mechanism of survivin, p53 and Ki-67 on Hep-2 human laryngeal cancer endothelial cell proliferation and invasion. Methods:Laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and paracancerous normal tissues were collected, total RNA was extracted from tissues,survivin,p53and Ki-67gene mRNA expression levels in laryngeal cancer and the adjacent tissues were detected by Real-time PCR. Human laryngeal cancer Hep-2 epithelial cells were selected, survivin gene was overexpressed, and cell proliferation was detected by MTT.p53 andKi-67gene expression changes in overexpressedsurvivin gene were detected by Western blot. Changes in Hep-2 cell invasive ability were studied whensurvivin was overexpressed as detected by Transwell invasion assay. Results: In the adjacent tissues, survivin,p53andKi-67 gene relative expression levels were 1.72 ± 0.9, 13.7 ± 5.7 and 5.7 ± 1.3, respectively; while in cancer tissues, gene relative expression levels were 53.7 ± 8.3, 66.7 ± 5.2 and 61.0 ± 3.1, respectively, which was significantly increased. As detected by MTT, relative cell survival rate within 12 h ofsurvivinoverexpression were: load control group, (88.5±1.6)%; overexpressed group, (90.3±1.9)%. Transwell invasion assay results indicated that overexpressedsurvivincould significantly increase the relative survival rate of cells. Conclusions:Expressions ofp53,Ki67 and survivin are increased in cancer; and there is a positive correlation betweensurvivin, p53andKi67 expressions in laryngeal carcinoma.
