Objective To explore the posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD) symptoms, coping styles and security sense of witnessed college students. Methods A cross-sectional survey was carried out among 800 freshmen and sophomores students from a medical university in Guangzhou. The participants were asked to fill posttraumatic stress disorder self-rating scale (PTSD-SS) ,simplified coping style questionnaire(SCSQ) and security questionnaire(SQ). Results 155 college students had witnessed injury and the ratio was 20.5% ( P ＜ 0.05 ).Compared to the students who hadn't witnessed experience, the witnessed college students had less security( 50.78± 5.63 vs 52.01 ± 5.19 ), less active coping styles ( 34.94 ± 5.42 vs 35.88 ± 5.45 ) and less sense of control (25.07 ±4.25 vs 26.11 ±3.71 ) ,and they had got a higher score in PTSD symptoms and negative coping styles.Apart from the interpersonal sense of security,the other differences were significant between the two groups ( P＜0.05 ); the scores of PTSD symptoms had significant correlation with the total and subscales of coping styles and sense of control (P ＜ 0.01 or P ＜ 0.05 ). Conclusion The witnessed college students have severer PTSD symptoms and less security,and tend to take negative coping styles.

Many studies show that transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) can suppress tumor by inhibiting proliferation and dedifferentiation of cells and promoting cell apoptosis at early stage.But during the progression of tumor,its tumor-promoting action will be more and more obvious with the variation of TGF-β itself and its signal path.TGF-β signal path inhibitors have anti-tumor activity,but the clinical effects and side effects still need to be observed.

BACKGROUND: Cephalocervical cancer is closely related with genetic factors, but do the first-degree relatives have a higher risk for cancers? Slenderstyle acanthopanax root-bark has an anti-mutation chromosome stabilizer, can it enhance the anticaner ability of the first-degree relatives? OBJECTIVE: To study the genetic factor of cephalocervical cancer and antimutagenic effect of slenderstyle acanthopanax root-bark.DESIGN:A controlled experiment with human peripheral blood as the sample.SETTING: The Department of Medical Genetics of the Basic Medical Science School, and the Department of Otolaryngology of the First Hospital of Jilin University; The University of Warwick, UK.PARTICIPANTS: The subjects were taken during the period of October 2001 to March 2002. The patients with cephalocervical tumor and their first-degree relatives were all from the Department of Otolaryngology,FirstHospital of Jilin University, and healthy group were well-being blood devoting volunteers from Changchun City Central Blood Bank. There were group( n = 50) included 25 males and 25 females who were healthy blood patients group( n =30) were composed of 22 males and 8 females who did first-degree relative group(n=30) consisted of 19 males and 11 females. They were the first-degree relatives of patients with carcinoma of larynx and carcinoma of nasopharynx. Except for the family history of cancer,they themselves were all healthy. Informed consents were obtained from all of them.METHODS: The peripheral blood was collected as the sample and the lymphocyte culturing was performed. The culture cycle was 72 hours and bleomycin(BLM) (15 mL) was added into it at the 67~ hour, also the slenderstyle acanthopanax root-bark(SARB) (800 mg/L) was added into the antimutagenesis experiment. The cells were collected after culturing for another 72 hours. The conventional method was used for slide preparation. The slides were stained with Giemsa solution without banding. Choosing the proper objective and observing the numbers of chromatid breaks. The numbers of chromatid breaks were converted into the numbers of chromatid breaks per cell (b/c value). Namely, b/c value equals to the quotient, the number of chromatid break divided by the number of the cell observed in the slide.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The number of chromatid breaks per cell (b/c value).RESULTS: All the 110 cases in the 3 groups entered the stage of result It was lower in the control group than that in the patients group and first-degree relatives group(0.16 ± 0.06, 0.48 ± 0. 14, 0.42 ± 0. 12, P ＜0.01). There was no significant difference in b/c value between the paparison between b/c value induced by combined SARB with BLM and only BLM was performed: The b/c value of former is significantly lower than the latter (0.48±0.14,0.15 ±0.08,0.42±0.12, 0.17±0.11,P ＜ 0.01).CONCLUSION: The first-degree relatives of the patients with cephalocervical cancers should be classified as tumor high-risk group. SARB as a chromatid stabilizer has an obvious inhibitory effect on b/c value of the patients induced by BLM and that of the first-degree relatives.

Objective To investigate the distribution of different Human papilloma virus(HPV) subtype infection of women cervixes in parts of Guizhou Province and the high risk factors of HPV infection,in order to offer some evidences for the use of vaccine of cervix eaneers in the region, and offer a group of reliable data for the screen-ing statistics of cervix eaneer in the world. Methods A total of 2339 women having sexual life were checked for 21 HPV genotypes by DNA flow-through hybridization technique and liquid-hased pap test(LPT) in their exfoliated cer-vical cells. Cervix tissues were taken in some HPV positive women and (or) LPT positive women among them for bi-opsy by the vaginoscope. The high risk factors of HPV infection and the distribution feature of HPV subtype infection in the different cervix diseases were anlayzed. Results The total positive rate of HPV infection was 30.31% (709/ 2339 ) in the 2339 women. There were 20 HPV subtypes to be detected. HPV subtype infection from high to low were HPVI6,52,18,58 and 11. The rates of HPV subtype infection were 9.87% (231/2339) ,5.64% ( 132/2339), 4.95% (116/2339 ) ,4.19% (98/2339)and 2.99 % (70/2339). The peak age of HPV infection ranged from 31 to 35 years old. The earlier the first sexual life,the higher HPV infeetion (tendeney X2 test,P <0.05). 366 CIN pa-tients and 181 patients of invasive cervix carcinoma( ICC)were diagnosed through pathology examination. The rate of HPV infection were 34.26% (74/216)in CIN Ⅰ ,77.78% (56/72)in CIN Ⅱ ,82.05% (64/78)in CIN Ⅲ. Among the 181 ICC,the rate of HPV infection was 84.52% (131/155)in squamous carcinoma of the cervix (SCC) and 38.46% (10/26) in adenocareinoma of uterine cervix (AUC). The infeetion rate of HPV16 was 61.83% ( 81/131 ) in the SCC of HPV positive. The infection rate of HPV18 was 60% (6/10)of the AUC of HPV positive. HPV16 was related closely with SCC ( X2 = 11. 948 ,P < 0.001 , ORSCC/AUC = 5. 946). There was no significant difference be-tween HPV 18 in SCC and AUC( P > 0.05). Conclusions The major HPV subtypes are 16,52,18,58 in Guizhou province. There is a close correlation between HPV infection and cervix diseases. HPV infection often occurs in young and middle-aged women. The first sexual life is a high factor of HPV infection. High risk HPV infecting would cause cervix cancer. CIN and cervix cancers are caused by high risk HPV infection. HPV16 is related closely with SCC. There is no significant difference between HPV18 in SCC and AUC. HPV16/18 vaccine could be considered to re-duce the incidence of cervical carcinoma in Guizhou province.

Objective ThrouGh the detection of heat shock protein 90(HSP90)Gene expression in the peripheral blood in in patients with hypertensive disorders complicatinG preGnancy( HDCP ),to understand its role in the pathophysioloGy of HDCP. Methods The expression of HSP90 was observed in Groups of normal preGnant women,Gestational hypertension patients,mild preeclampsia patients,severe preeclampsia patients by ELISA. Results The expression of HSP90 in peripheral blood of Gestational hypertension Group,mild preeclampsia Group,severe preeclampsia Group were siGnificantly hiGher than normal preGnant Group( P<0. 0l ) . Conclusion HSP90 may have close relationship with the onset and development of HDCP. It can predict HDCP by detectinG the level of HSP90 in peripheral blood.

Objective To assess and compare the overall diagnostic value of positron emission tomography(PET)-CT and DWI in lymph node staging in patients with prostate cancer by using Meta-analysis.Methods Relevant English articles published on PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library and SCI database were searched.Subsequently,the characteristics of the included articles were appraised and extracted.Statistical analysis was performed employing Meta Disc version 1.4.Heterogeneity of the included articles was tested,which was used to select proper effect model to calculate the pooled sensitivity and specificity and the corresponding 95％ CI,summary receiver operating characteristics(SROC) curve was performed and the area under the curve was calculated.The diagnostic performanceincluding the sensitivity,specificity,and the area under the curve was compared between the two groups via x2 test and Z test respectively.Results Eleven of 182 retrieved articles were included,in which 3 articles used two methods of imaging examination at the same time.In PET-CT group,there were eight articles using 11C-Choline as imaging agents,three with 18F-Fluorocholine.The pooled sensitivity and specificity and area under SROC curve for PET-CT were 0.64 (0.574.71),0.93 (0.90-0.96),and 0.8795 respectively.They were 0.59 (0.47-0.70),0.82 (0.70-0.91),and 0.7707 for DWI group.The specificity of PET-CT was significantly higher than that of DWI (x2=5.531,P＜0.05).No significant differences were found in the sensitivity and AUC between the two groups (x2=0.528,Z=1.699,P＞0.05).Conclusion For lymph node staging in patients with prostate cancer,PET-CT has an equal sensitivity and a higher specificity,a better diagnostic performance compared with DWI.

Objective To evaluate the effects of remifentanil preconditioning on the renal injury induced by limb ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) in rats.Methods Twenty-seven healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing 200-250 g,were randomly assigned into 3 groups (n =9 each):sham operation group (Sham group),I/R group and remifentanil preconditioning group (RPC group).Limb ischemia was induced by clamping bilateral femoral arteries and veins for 2 h,followed by 24 h reperfusion in I/R and RPC groups.Remifentanil 1.0 μg· kg-1 · min-1 was infused via the caudal vein for 30 min before ischemia in RPC group,while the equal volume of normal saline was given in Sham and I/R groups.Blood sample was taken from the inferior vena cava at 24 h of reperfusion to measure blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Cr) concentrations in serum.The rats were sacrificed and the left kidney was removed for determination of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) contents,cell apoptosis and microscopic examination of pathological changes.Apoptosis index was calculated.Results Apoptosis index and concentrations of BUN and Cr in serum,TNF-α and IL-6 contents,and apoptosis index were significantly higher,and the pathological changes were more severe in I/R and RPC groups than in Sham group.Compared with group I/R,concentrations of BUN and Cr in serum,TNF-α and IL-6 contents,and apoptosis index were significantly decreased,and the pathological changes were attenuated in RPC group.Conclusion Remifentanil preconditioning can attenuate renal injury induced by limb I/R in rats,and inhibition of inflammatory responses and cell apoptosis in kidney may be involved in the mechanism.

Objective:To investigate the correlation between the disease activity of ulcerative colitis (UC) and the immunohistochemical distribution of calprotectin in colon mucosa,as well as the levels of calprotectin in fecal. Methods:Monoclonal antibody against calprotectin was used to investigate the distribution of these proteins in colon mucosa from 42 patients with ulcerative colitis and 20 healthy controls. ELISA assay was used to measure the concentrations of calprotectin in fecal. The disease activity of UC was determined by Truelove-Witts histological criteria. Results: Calprotectin was demonstrated in the majority of granulocytes and macrophages in colon mucosa of patients with active UC, while negative in patients with unactive UC and healthy controls. A strong calprotectin immunoreactivity was presented in ulcerative and erosion lesions in the colon. AIM: To establish the simultaneous determination of camphor,menthol,synthetic borneol and methyl salicylate in Shexiang Zhuanggu Plaster(Camphor,Mentholum,Borneolum Syntheticum,etc). by GC. METHODS: The sample solution was distilled in volatile oil determination apparatus.Naphthalene was used for the internal standard.The GC system consisted of capillary column,PEG-20M as the stationary phase,nitrogen as the carrier gas,FID as the detector.The programmed temperature-GC and internal standard method was employed to determine four kinds of components in Shexiang Zhuanggu Plaster. RESULTS: Camphor,menthol,synthetic borneol(borneol and isoborneol) and methyl salicylate in Shexiang Zhuanggu Plaster and naphthalene have been separated well under the same chromatographic condition.The average recovery of camphor,menthol,synthetic borneol and methyl salicylate were 96.92%(RSD=2.42%),98.03%(RSD=1.81%),99.02%(RSD=1.47%) and 98.15%(RSD=1.59%),respectively.
