Journal of Third Military Medical University 1988;0(06):-
Objective To investigate the effects of Panax notoginseng saponin (PNS) on macrophage inflammatory protein 1?(MIP 1?) and monocyte chemoattractant protein 1(MCP 1) in plasma in rats with pulmonary fibrosis. Methods The dynamic changes of the contents of MIP 1?and MCP 1 in plasma were determined with ELISA. Results The contents of MIP 1? and MCP 1 in plasma were significantly higher in PF group than those in PNS group at most time points(125 pg/ml and 298 pg/ml), and correlated with the development of fibrosis. The contents of MIP 1? and MCP 1, close to those in the control group, were inhibited obviously in PNS group. Conclusion PNS may have effect on the prevention and cure of fibrosis by minimization of the alveolar inflammation due to the effective inhibition of the contents of MIP 1? and MCP 1 in plasma.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture for perimenopausal depression. Methods: Ninety cases were randomly allocated into treatment group (n=60) and control group (n=30) according to the visit sequence. Patients in the treatment group were treated with acupuncture, once daily, and 10 times constituted one treatment course. Patients in the control group took Premarin tablet and medroxyprogesterone acetate for 3 cycles of menses. Results: The total effective rate was 95.0% in the treatment group, and 87.7% in the control group (P<0.05). The HAMD scores were decreased in both groups, and it was lower in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion: Acupuncture has good effects on perimenopausal depression.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2008;6(6):334-336
Objective: To explore the mechanism of anti-aging effect of acupuncture at Zusanli (ST 36). Methods: Thirty mice of 28 weeks old were randomly divided into 3 groups: control group, model group and acupuncture group. Sub-acute aging model was established by subcutaneous injection of D-galactose. The activity of Superoxide Dismutase(SOD) and content of serum Malondialdehyde(MDA) were measured. Morphological changes of jejunal mucosa were observed with light microscope. Result: SOD activity in the acupuncture group was highest among the three groups, whereas, MDA content was the lowest. In the model group, the ratio of normal intestinal villus was decreased, the intestinal villus was shrunk, and there were more epithelial cells desquamated. In acupuncture group, there were less abnormal intestinal villus and epithelial cell. Conclusion: Acupuncture at Zusanli (ST 36) has an effect in resisting aging by increasing the activity of serum SOD, decreasing the MDA contents, and improving the intestinal villus.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(10):-
To investigate the plasma MIP 1?and MCP 1 levels in rats with pulmonary fibrosis produced by bleomycin and preliminarily study the pathogenesis of the two chemokines in pulmonary fibrosis. The rats were randomly divided into 2 groups: normal control and pulmonary fibrotic group. Rats were killed on day 1, 3, 7, 14 and 28, and the plasma were collected .The solid phase sandwich enzyme linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA) was used to assay the level of plasma MIP 1? and MCP 1. The results showed that the level of MIP 1? and MCP 1 in rats with pulmonary fibrosis were significantly higher than those in normal control ; plasma MCP 1 level was significantly correlated with plasma MIP 1?. It indicates that plasma MIP 1? and MCP 1 may be useful markers for monitoring the course of pulmonary fibrosis and they may reflect the clinical evidence of pulmonary fibrosis.
