Objective To investigate the characteristics of attentional control between Wenchuan earthquake anxious and normal children. Methods Using Screening Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED), 18 earthquake anxious children were chosen as participants and 18 normal children were chosen as control group. They were asked to perform a visual search task. Results ( 1 ) The judgment accuracy of earthquake anxious children was lower than normal children's significantly ( ( 0.95 ± 0.01 ), ( 0. 98 ± 0. 01 ), P <0.01 ). ( 2 ) The reaction time of earthquake anxious children was significantly longer than normal children' s ((1664.5 ± 78.5 ) ms, ( 1110.7 ± 78.5 ) ms, P < 0. 01 ). ( 3 ) There was significantly faster performance in the valid condition than in the neutral( ( 1304.7 ± 61.3 ) ms, ( 1382. 3 ± 47.4 ) ms, P < 0. 05 ) and invalid condition ( ((1304.7 ± 61.3 )ms, (1475.8 ± 71.5 )ms; P < 0. 05 ), as well as faster performance in the neutral than in the invalid condition ((1382.3 ± 47.4) ms, ( 1475.8 ± 71.5 ) ms, P < 0.05 ) in all children. Conclusion The performance of earthquake anxious children on top-down attentional control task is less than normal children. It indicates that anxious emotion which is brought by traumatic incidents like earthquake influents earthquake anxious children' s cognitive processing ability.

Objective To summarize the experience on diagnosis and treatment of splenic neoplasm. Methods Clinical data of 40 patients with primary splenic space occupying lesion treated in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Results Thirty four out of the 40 cases were diagnosed as primary splenic neoplasm preoperatively. The detectable rate of B-US was 94%, and that of CT was 96%. The discrimination rate of benignancy and malignancy by CT was 84%. Serum AKP and ?-GT were significanfiy increased in most of the malignancies. Seventeen among 22 cases with benignancy were treated by splenectomy, and the others underwent partial splenectomy or tumor resection. Sixteen of 18 patients with malignancy underwent splenectomy, and two did biopsy. Pathology revealed cysts in 13, angiocavernoma in 4, inflammatory pseudotumor in 3, caverous lymphangioma in 1, and cystic degeneration of liomyoma in 1; malignant lymphoma and lymphsarcoma in 9, hemangiosarcoma in 3, and fibrosarcoma, liomyosarcoma, malignant fibrous histiocytoma in 1 each. Three cases with malignancy have survived more than 5 years. Conclusions Splenic neoplasm is diagnosed mainly according to clinical manifestation and image examination. The discrimination of benignancy and malignancy depends on CT, angiography, and serous AKP and ?-GT level. Radical operation and complex treatment could improve the prognosis of splenic malignant tumor.

Picrotoxin is an anatagninst of gamma-aminobutyric acid, which is an internal inhibition-transmitter in the central nervous system, Picrotoxin exerts a biphasic action on the blood pressure and heart rate in rats and cats in vivo. That is to say, in the initial stage, picrotoxin can lower the blood pressure and heart rate, and then an elevation of these two even above the original level can be observed, up to the present, from the authors limited literature, there has been no report dealing with the problem whether picrotoxin can act on an isolated heart directly. In this study, the heart of a frog was isolated and routine intubation of the heart was done for its perfusion. Physiological polyconduction instrument was inserted through a mechanical transducer to record the heart rale and myocardial contractility. A suspending glass microelectrode coupling with a microamplifier is used to record the action potential of the ventricular myocardium. Real time analysis of all the data was accomplished with a microcomputer. The dosages of picrotoxin used were 1,5, 3.0, 6.0, and 12.0 mg per kilogram of body weight. It was found that picrotcxin can directly act on the isolated frog heart. The results were as follows.1 ) Picrotoxin exerts inhibition on the special conduction system of the heart, and the A-V node and venous sinus are very sensitive. Complete or partial transmission block can be induced.2 ) It can elicit clearly a fall of the heart rate but no biphasic action can berevealed. 3) It can reduce the myocardial contractility, suggesting that the calciuminflow during the functioning period of the action potential is effected. 4 ) It can reduce the amplitude of the action potential but no effect on themaximal depolarization speed is observed, suggesting that picrotoxin islikely to affect the level of resting potential but not the action potentialin the depolarized period.

OBJECTIVE:
To study the early gene diagnosis of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) induced severe nosebleed.
METHOD:
Clinical features of 23 family members in two HHT pedigrees were examined. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood samples. PCR amplification was conducted to screen ENG and ACVRL-1 genes with their specific primers. Direct sequencing was performed to detect the mutation. Mutation analysis was carried out to evaluate its significance.
RESULT:
A heterozygous c. 263A > G mutation was identified in exon 3 of ACVRL-1 in 6 out of 11 members in NMG-1 pedigree. In GD-2 pedigree, 5 of 11 members carried c. 199C > G mutation. Mutation detection rate was 100% in subjects with nosebleed history and 25% in family members without epistaxis.
CONCLUSION
Gene diagnosis characterized by high sensitivity and specificity is of great practi-cal significance and early genetic screening should be a clinical routine test for HHT induced severe nosebleed.
