Objective To explore the application of the Ilizarov's principle on tension-stress in correction of adult severe talipes equinovarus. Methods From January 1996 to February 2003, 12 patients (13 feet) were corrected with this method, which involved 9 males and 3 females, whose average age was 26 years old (ranged from 20-36 years). The left foot was afflicted in 4 patients, and the right foot in 7, both side in 1. Among these patients, 3 were congenital, 6 were caused by the poliomyelitis, 1 by trauma, 1 by complication from encephalitic paralysis and 1 by radiotherapy for the cavernous hemangioma of the leg. The Ilizarov distraction apparatus of the ankle and foot joint were equipped in terms of the diseases preoperatively. During the operation, the release of the postero-medial soft tissue and the limited osteotomy of triple joints of the clubfoot were performed. According to the principles of Ilizarov, the wires were inserted and the fixator installed, the distraction devices of the ankle and foot joint which had corrective function in three-dimensional directions were applied to the tibia and foot, the telescopic rods on the apparatus were rotated one week after the operation. The deformity of talipes equinovarus, internal rotation and the drooping of the forefoot were gradually corrected, and the patients could bear weight and walked on the deformity foot during the course of distractive correction. Results All the 12 patients were available at follow-up with a mean duration of 15 months (ranged from 7 months to 4 years). There was no recurrence of the deformity and the feet function was good while walking on full weight-bearing. The mean duration of traction was 71 days. 10 patients (11 feet) could gain 0? in full weight-bearing, 2 patients preserved the drooping feet deformity at 15?-20? (because of shortness in the lower extremety). None of the complications occurred postoperatively, such as infection in the incision or pin tract, necrosis of the flap, neurovascular injury and nonunion. Conclusion Utilizing Ilizarov's principle on tension-stress to correct severe adult talipes equinovarus is a safe, minimally invasive and effective method.

BACKGROUND:Tissue-engineered bone in the treatment of large bone defects has obvious advantages especial y when the autologous ilium transplantation is limited, which can effectively fil bone defects.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the rationality of intramedul ary nailing support and tissue-engineered bone fil ing in the treatment of fibrous dysplasia of the proximal femur and the biocompatibility of the tissue-engineered bone.
METHODS:Seven patients with fibrous dysplasia of the proximal femur were subjected to intramedul ary nailing support and tissue-engineered bone fil ing.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Al of the seven patients underwent more than 8 months of fol ow-up, no rejection reaction and other complications occurred. After 4-6 weeks of fixation, al the seven patients removed hip spica braces, with a good hip mobility. After 10-12 weeks, X-ray review showed no pathological fracture, internal fixation loosening and narrow neck stem angle. Using the Harris hip score evaluation of the hip function, the affected side of the seven patients was optimized. After 16-18 weeks, X-ray films reviewed good creeping substitution in the affected area treated with the intramedul ary nailing support and bone graft. After 24-26 weeks, new bone appeared within the scope of lesions. After 1.0-1.5 years, bone creeping substitution was basical y completed in the intertrochanteric region, and original lesions were invisible on X-ray films. These findings confirmed that intramedul ary nailing support and tissue-engineered bone fil ing for treating fibrous dysplasia of the proximal femur has good effectiveness, exhibiting stable internal fixation and avoiding resection of autogenous iliac bone. Tissue-engineered bone has a good biocompatibility in the medium-term fol ow-up, with good hip function activities.

Objective:To explore the MRI features of cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation (CAA-ri).Methods:The clinical and imaging data of 12 patients with CAA-ri diagnosed in Affiliated Guizhou Aviation Industry Cor Ltd No 300 Hospital of Zunyi Medical University (9 cases), Xingyi People′s Hospital (2 cases) and Anshun people′s Hospital (1 case) from June 2013 to June 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. There were 3 females and 9 males, aged from 57 to 89 years old, with an average age of 71±10 years. The twelve patients included 5 cases with probable CAA-ri and 7 cases with possible CAA-ri. The duration of the disease ranged from 30 minutes to 2 years. One patient has ApoE ε4/ε4 gene overexpressed. All the 12 patients underwent MRI, including susceptibility weighted imaging in 12 cases, DWI in 10 cases, contrast enhanced MRI (CE-MRI) in 9 cases, MRS in 3 cases, MRA in 7 cases, and perfusion-weighted imaging in 1 case. Results:Imaging features of CAA-ri included encephalopathic, tumoral, classical cerebral amyloid angiopathy(CAA) manifestations. Twelve cases of encephalopathic manifestations showed patchy white matter hyperintensity (WMH) involving U-shaped fibers on T 2 weighted fluid-attenuated inversion recovery sequence (FLAIR), usually asymmetric, with various degree of mass effect, no diffusion restriction on DWI and no enhancement on CE-MRI. One case showed a single tumoral lesion with irregular enhancement on CE-MRI. The classic CAA findings included hemorrhagic lesions (microhemorrhage in 8 cases, lobar hemorrhage in 6 cases, subarachnoid hemorrhage in 3 cases, iron deposition on the brain surface in 7 cases) and ischemic lesions (microinfarction in 1 case, enlarged perivascular space and interlobar space in 4 cases). Follow-up showed lesions absorption and/or new lesion formation in 5 cases. Conclusions:The MRI features of CAA-ri are mainly patchy WMH involving U-shaped fibers on T 2 FLAIR, usually asymmetric, with wandering and alternating features, and inconsistency with clinical manifestations.

AIM: To explore the influence of ginsenoside Rh 2 on cultured PC-3M cell cycle in vitro . METHODS: DNA content was measured using -TdR incorporation assay. To analysis the cycle changes of PC-3M cells, flow cytometry was used in the experiment.RESULTS: The results indicated that the rate of -TdR incorporation was lower in Rh 2-treated cells than the control in a dose-dependent manner. Flow cytometry demonstrated that the pecent of G 1 phase treated with Rh 2 was higher than that of control. CONCLUSION: These results suggested that PC-3M cells cultured with Rh 2 for 24 h were blocked at G 1 phase, and Rh 2 inhibited the growth of PC-3M cells in vitro .
