BACKGROUND: Studies show that riluzole can greatly inhibit protein kinase C-?Ⅱ in mediating vascular endothelial cell growth factor effects on endothelial cells, so we presume it can be used in inhibiting retinal neovascularization. OBJECTIVE: To explore the inhibitory effects of riluzole on the proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells and retinal neovascularization, and investigate potential mechanism of its effects. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Single-sample observation and randomized controlled animal trial were performed at the Animal Laboratory and Basic Study Laboratory of Chongqing University of Medical Sciences from August to December 2007. MATERIALS: Thirty 3-day-old healthy C57BL/6 mice (60 eyes), irrespective of gender, were selected to model proliferative retinopathy induced by hyperoxia. Raw material of riluzole was product of Venturepharm Laboratories Limited, Beijing (No. 060630, content ≥98.5%). METHODS: Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were cultured, and randomly divided into 3 groups. The mice in hyperoxia model group and riluzole group were modeled, and riluzole group was additionally intraperitoneally injected 10 mg/kg per day riluzole; control group was intraperitoneally injected normal saline. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Effect of riluzole on proliferation of endothelial cell proliferation induced by vascular endothelial growth factor was observed using MTT assay; The inhibitory effects of riluzole on retinal neovascularization were evaluated by counting the endotheliocyte nuclei of new vessels beyond the inner limiting membrane in sections with HE staining. The expression of retinal protein kinase C-?Ⅱand vascular endothelial growth factor were detected with SABC immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: The riluzole of 0.1-10 ?mol/L inhibited proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells in a dose-effect dependent manner. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus (DM).Like other macrovascular complications of DM,the development and progression of DR is influenced by a variety of systemic and local factors.It is essential to understand the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration.Systemic risk fators such as hyperglycemia,hypertension,dyslipidemia and diabetic nephropathy should be treated before effective DR management can be implemented.Through multidisciplinary collaboration,we can prevent the development of DR,slow the progression of DR,and improve the safety of perioperative care.Thereby enhancing the level of prevention and control of DM complications,including DR.

The quality and quantity of scientific research project are important indexes to evaluate the comprehensive scientific research strength of organizations.To improve the quality of grant and successful of application rate,we applied the circulation to scientific research management.We utilized fishbone analysis method to analyze the factors associated with successful rate of research projects and performed many countermeasures.According to the measurements,the quality of research project,management and successful rate has been continually improved.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the parameters of the red blood cells and the corresponding param‐eters of mature red blood cells .Methods Blood samples of 112 healthy males and 110 healthy females were tested for these reticu‐locyte parameters by using Siemens Advia2120 hematology analyzer .Reference intervals were established .Comparisons between these reticulocyte parameters and the corresponding parameters of mature erythrocytes were drawn .Results Reference intervals for the healthy group recruited in this study were determined as follows .Females ,percentage of reticulocyte (Retic% ):0 .45% ~1 .76% ,absolute reticulocyte number(Retic#):(22~86)× 109/L ,mean corpuscular hemoglobin content of reticulocyte(CHr):30 . 1~36 .4 pg ,mean corpuscular volume of reticulocyte(MCVr):99 .5~113 .7 fL .Male ,Retic% :0 .54% ~1 .93% ,Retic# :(29~104)× 109/L ,CHr :32 .6~36 .6 pg ,MCVr :97 .6~112 .7 fL .The absolute reticulocyte of male is significantly higher than that of female;MCVr was significantly larger than mean corpuscular volume of mature erythrocytes ,which was also slightly larger in male than that in female;CHr was significantly higher than mean corpuscular hemoglobin of mature erythrocytes while mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration of large reticulocytes was lower than that of mature erythrocytes;red blood cell volume distribution width of reticulocytes was lower than that of mature erythrocytes;the hemoglobin content distribution width of mature erythrocytes has a higher uniformity compared with reticulocytes .Conclusion The reference ranges of not commonly used parameters of reticulocytes were established ,and were compared with the corresponding parameters of red blood cells .

Objective To investigate the hospital laboratory management mode.Methods We used literature review and comparative analysis to understand the different laboratory management mode,explore suitable operation mechanisms for hospital research and the development of hospital la boratory.Through a variety of measures to improve the efficiency and level of management,we tried to ensure the high efficiency and high quality operation of clinical laboratory,hospital science research,personnel training,discipline construction to provide quality services.Results There were two kinds of hospital laboratory management modes,which were centralized and decentralized management mode.Both management modes had advantages and disadvantages.We thought the centralized-decentralized binding mode was an ideal combination.Based of this mode,we implemented a number of initiatives and achieved significant results.Conclusions From the scale of hospital and its long-term development,centralized decentralized binding mode is a kind of ideal mode.

Cultivation of medical scientific research personnel is the driving force and source of the development of medicine.Powerful medical scientific research management would improve the overall level of hospital scientific research.Through the strengthening of discipline construction,the establishment of cooperation and communication platform,the implementation of an effective incentive mechanism,the improvement of research supporting conditions,the improvement of the quality of personnel management,the construction of scientific research management platform,we effectively enhanced the ability of scientific research personnel,and improved the level of scientific research in our hospital.

The factor that how the research funding is managed and used is very important for the progress and quality of research projects.With the continuous increase in the degree of supervision for the research fund,the attention to scientific research funding in hospital is also gradually raised.The problems of mismanaged and misuse research fund has been highlighted.The current study,based on the characteristics of medical research,comprehensively analyzed the existing problems of medical research funding in use and management from the point of view of research management.To solve these problems,we proposed suggestions and countermeasures to improve the use and management of research funding,and continued to improve the management of research funding.

Discipline construction is the core of the construction and development of hospital,the situation of discipline construction reflects the overall strength,academic position and core competitiveness of the hospital.The construction of clinical discipline mainly includes three contents:the construction of academic team,the determination of the subject direction,and the construction of the discipline platform.Scientific research is the main content of discipline construction.High level of research is the carrier of discipline construction.We have performed many management measures:improving the scientific management system,strengthening the dynamic management of the department,global planning,paying attention to personnel training and talent introduction,building reasonable talent echelon and advanced platform to create a good academic environment.According to these measures we have achieved fruitful results.

Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR)is a serious causing-blindness disease.It is intimately associated with retinal detachment (RD),proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR)and penetrating ocular injury with the complicated course and aggravating outcome.Proteomics is a science about investigating the total proteins in cellular level or organism level.The study of proteomics is helpful for reinforcing the cognition and understanding of pathogenesis and development of PVR.So proteomics study about PVR is becoming a new topic.The study progress in the mechanism of PVR,the study background and technique of proteomics,the application of proteomics study in PVR and relative ocular diseases mentioned above are reviewed in this paper.

Primary intraocular lymphoma (PIOL) is mostly composed by diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with a high degree of malignancy and often masquerades as uveitis.Moreover,it has a poor prognosis,therefore the early diagnosis and treatment are very important.Cytology,cytokine analysis,immunohistochemistry and genetic testing are often used in combination to improve the diagnosis rate of PIOL,however,eye tissue biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosis of PIOL.Currently,since there is no unified treatment program,the main treatment is given priority to local chemotherapy and orbital radiotherapy,and the use of multiple therapies can improve the efficacy of refractory PIOL.Base on these,this article reviews the current diagnosis and treatment for providing certain reference.
