A discussion of the connotation and key issues of the new normal in the healthcare sector, with an introduction to the new normal. The furthering reform is unveiling roadblocks in the healthcare system. For example, human resources available can hardly support development of the sector, and revenue growth of tertiary hospitals in the cities will decline, while county hospitals will be further challenged by debt crisis. In the meantime of steady elevation of medical capabilities in both urban and rural areas, the gap between the two will be maintained for a while. The authors predict that the sector will be faced with restructuring essential medicine system, grading diagnosis and treatment practice, rising risks for health insurance, and growing market shares of commercial health insurance and private capital, as well as fiercer competitions to challenge public hospitals.

With dwindling number of new antibiotics and inappropriate use of antibiotics, the emergence and spread of antibiotics resistance occurs commonly in healthcare institutions worldwide. In China, antibiotics are commonly overprescribed and misused. This study is to assess the effect of the nationwide special campaign on antibiotic stewardship program (ASP) at specialized hospitals in China by investigating prescription information from 2011 to 2012. Data on the hospital consumption and prescription of systemic antibiotics were obtained from four specialized hospitals, including maternity, children's, stomatological and cancer hospitals. Systematic random sampling was used to select outpatient prescriptions and inpatient cases. A total of 105 specialized hospitals in 2011 and 121 specialized hospitals in 2012 were analysed. The defined daily doses (DDDs) per 100 inpatient days, the percentage of antibiotic use in outpatient prescriptions, and the percentage of antibiotic use in inpatient cases were used as measurements of antibiotic use. The overall antibiotic use density in the selected hospitals decreased between 2011 and 2012 from 39.37 to 26.54 DDD/100 inpatient days (P<0.001). The percentage of antibiotic use in outpatient prescriptions (range: 24.12%-18.71%, P=0.109) and inpatient cases (64.85%-60.10%, P=0.006) also decreased within the two years. Significant changes were observed among regions and different hospitals within the two years. And antibiotic consumption was correlated with the type and size of specialized hospital in 2012, but not with the regions. This analysis of antibiotic consumption of specialized hospitals allows relevant comparisons for benchmarking and shows that national ASP has improved antibiotic rational use in China. The data will assist policymakers in formulating effective strategies to decrease antibiotic overuse and identify areas that require further work.

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical efficacy and action mechanism of acupuncture for premature ovarian failure (POF).
METHODSAccording to prospective cohort study design, 30 cases were included. Based on theory of regulating Chong and Conception Vessels as well as soothing the liver and calming the nerves, acupuncture at Guanyuan (CV 4), Dahe (KI 12), Taixi (KI 3), Taichong (LR 3), Baihui (GV 20) was applied, three times per week and 3 months were considered as one session. Totally two sessions were performed. The menstruation condition, estradiol (E2), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and scores of the clinical perimenopausal symptoms were taken as treatment outcomes.
RESULTSThe total effective rate was 86.7% (26/30) and the cured rate was 16.7% (5/30). The recovery rate of menstruation was 16.7% (5/30) and the regain rate of menstruation was 56.7% (17/30). After the treatment, the level of E2 was significantly increased from (45.41 +/- 18. 09) pmol/L to (59.07 +/- 24.21) pmol/L (P < 0.05), and the score of perimenopausal symptoms was obviously reduced from 14.28 +/- 8. 30 to 4.04 +/- 3.28 (P < 0.01). However, no statistical differences could be seen in FSH before and after treatment (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONAcupuncture has certain effect on improving menstruation and perimenopausal symptoms in POF patients, which is likely to he related with increasing the level of E2.

The quality of guidelines of clinical practice in acupuncture and moxibustion was evaluated with AGREE II tool. After retrieval of officially-issued guidelines of clinical practice in acupuncture and moxibustion from 2004 to 2013, totally 5 types of evidence-based guidelines of clinical practice in acupuncture and moxibustion were acquired, including depression, herpes zoster, pseudobulbar palsy after stroke, migraine and Bell's palsy. With AGREE II tool, independent score in six areas, including guideline's scope and purpose, participants and personnel, preciseness, clarity and readability, applicability and editorial independence were analyzed to perform a comprehensive evaluation in the end. The assessment results indicated that the score of editorial independence in evidence-based guidelines of clinical practice in acupuncture and moxibustion was the highest, averagely 97.9%, which was followed by clarity and readability (83.3%), participants and personnel (78.1%), preciseness (75.6%), the scope and purpose (68.1%) and the applicability (62.5%). The total evaluation score was all 6 points in the five guidelines with recommended as comprehensive evaluation advice. This study results indicate that although the guideline of clinical practice in acupuncture and moxibustion is low in number, the total quality is considerable.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(16):2468-2473
BACKGROUND:Autologous bone graft is the best method to repair bone defects after tumor curettage, but its shortcomings are as folows: increased surgical trauma, sequelae at bone graft site such as infection and pain, and a limited amount of autologous bone. OBJECTIVE:To analyze the effectiveness of xenograft and calcium sulphate artificial bone in treating bone defects after benign bone tumor removed. METHODS:Totaly 26 cases of benign bone tumor were selected, including 8 cases of giant celltumor, 5 of enchondroma, 4 of fibrous histiocytoma, 3 of bone fibrous dysplasia, 2 of non-ossifying fibroma, 2 cases of bone cysts, 1 of aneurysmal bone cyst and 1 of aneurysmal bone cyst and 1 case of chondroblastoma. Of the 26 cases, 12 cases underwent calcium sulphate pelets alone to fil bone defects after benign bone tumor removed, 6 cases were subjected to xenograft alone, and 8 cases were treated with calcium sulphate pelets combined with xenograft. The X-rays were taken at 1 week, 3 months, and 1 year after the operation in al patients to assess the bone healing process. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Al the patients were folowed up for 36-72 months. The absorption of calcium sulphate appeared to be absorbed earlier, the earlier absorption appearance could be observed as earlier as 1 month after the implantation, and most calcium sulphate was absolved and replaced by new bone at 3 months after the operation. The xenograft bone was degraded at 3 months post implantation and new bone formed. Osseo integration of the graft was observed at the periphery of the implant at 6 months post implantation. One year post implantation, trabecular bone was observed at the site with uniform bone density. In the combined group, thecalcium sulphate pelets were absorbed earlier and new bone formed earlier than the calcium sulphate alone group, and the xenograft absorbed later than the calcium sulphate pelets. Generaly, bony union was detectable 1 year after operation. These findings indicate that xenograft and calcium sulphate in treating benign bone tumor have acquired good results, which can be used as a substitute of autologous bone.
