Objective: To evaluate the value of contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) in the diagnosis of vertebral stenosis. Methods: A total of 108 patients (216 vertebral arteries) with clinical ischemic symptoms were examined by CE-MRA, then they were examined with digital subtraction angiography (DSA) within one week after CE-MRA examination. Using DSA as a standard, the accuracy of CE-MRA in the diagnosis of vertebral arteries was evaluated. Results: Circled digit oneOf the 216 vertebral arteries, 188 (87.0%) were consistent with the results of CE-MRA and DSA. The stenosis degree of 24 arteries (11.1%) determined by CE-MRA was higher than those determined by DSA. The stenosis degree of 4 arteries (1.9%) determined by CE-MRA was lower than those determined by DSA. Spearman rank correlation coefficient of the 2 kinds of examination was rs = 0.785 (P <0.001). Circled digit twoIn 168 normal vertebral arteries examined by CE-MRA, 2 were mild stenosis (stenosis rate ≤49%) and 2 were moderate to severe stenosis (stenosis rate 50-99%) examined by DSA. Of the 8 arteries with mild stenosis diagnosed by CE-MRA, DSA confirmed that 6 arteries were normal; of the 30 arteries with moderate to severe Stenosis diagnosed by CE-MRA, DSA confirmed that 10 were mild stenosis and 8 were normal. CE-MRA examination showed that the 10 occluded arteries were all confirmed by DSA. Circled digit threeUsing DSA as the gold standard, the sensitivity, specificity, false positive rate, false negative rate, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and diagnostic consistent of CE-MRA rate were 89.5% (34/38), 92.1% (164/178), 7.9% (14/178), 10.5% (4/38), 70.8% (34/48), 97.6% (164/168), and 91.7% (198/216) , respectively. The Youden index was Y = 0.816. Conclusion: CE-MRA has high sensitivity in the diagnosis of vertebral artery ostial stenosis, it can be used as a screening means for detection. However, if we want to accurately evaluate the stenotic degree of vertebral artery, a variety of examination methods are needed.

Aim To investigate the effect of dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA)on the levels of NR2B and GBR1 expressed in primary cultured rat cerebral cortical neurons.Methods Primary cultured rat cerebral cortical neurons were treated with DHEA of different concentrations (1,10,100 μmol·L~(-1))and the expression of amino acids receptor subunit NR2B and GBR1 were detected by immunocytochemistry.Results Compared with control group,the expression intensity of NR2B increased by 15.6%,19.9% and 49.4% after DHEA-L,DHEA-M and DHEA-H treatment(P<0.05 or P<0.01);the expression intensity of GBR1 increased by 14.5% and 58.5% after DHEA-M and DHEA-H treatment(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusion DHEA can enhance the expression of neuron receptor subunit NR2B and GBR1.

Objective To investigate the effect of hyperoxia on the transdifferentiation level of type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells (AEC Ⅱ) in vivo and in vitro,in order to illuminate the mechanism of epithelial injury in bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD).Methods Newborn Wistar rats were randomly devided into control group (room air inhalation) or model group (85％ oxygen inhalation) after birth.Lung tissue sampling and AEC Ⅱ isolation was conducted on 7 d,14 d,21 d.Type Ⅰ alveolar epithelial cells (AEC Ⅰ) marker aquaporin 5 (AQP5) and AEC Ⅱ marker surfactant protein C (SP-C) were examined by Western blot and florescent real-time PCR.AEC Ⅱ isolated from normal newborn rats was randomly devided into normoxia group (21％ oxygen) or hyperoxia group (85％ oxygen) after 24 h culture,and continued culturing for another 48 h in vitro.Then the morphological changes of cells were observed under inverted phase contrast microscope.The expression and location of markers for AEC Ⅰ and AEC Ⅱ was examined by immunofluorescence double staining.The protein expression of AQP5 and SP-C was evaluated by Western blot,and the mRNA expression of these markers was examined by florescent real-time PCR.Results In AEC Ⅱ isolated from the animal models,the AQP5 protein expression increased from 7 d while the SP-C expression decreased from 14 d in the model group comparing with the control group.In the model group,AQP5 mRNA expression increased and SP-C mRNA expression decreased since 7 d after hyperoxia exposure (P ＜ 0.05),with the difference between groups more obvious as exposure time extending.After culturing in vitro,AEC Ⅱ isolated from normal newborn rats expressed more AQP5 and less SP-C,with more cells double stained in the hyperoxia group compared with the normoxia group,examined by immunofluorescence double staining.The protein and mRNA examination results both showed that AQP5 expression increased and SP-C expression decreased in the hyperoxia group compared with the normoxia group (P ＜0.01).Conclusion After hyperoxia exposure,no matter in vivo or in vitro,the expression of AEC Ⅱ marker SP-C decreases while the expression of AEC Ⅰ marker AQP5 increases.These results indicate that the excessive transdifferentiation of AEC Ⅱ takes part in the recovery process after hyperoxia induced lung injury.

Objective To determine the prevalence of dental anxiety in children patients before tooth extraction.Methods　A modified Children's Fear Survey Schedule-Dental Subscale (CFSS-DS) and Venham's clinical ratings of anxiety and cooperative behavior were used in 150 children patients ranging in age from 5 to 12 years olds before tooth extraction. The former scale was answered by parents on behalf of their children, and the latter ratings was assessed by the author. Results　CFSS-DS scores and clinical ratings of behavior of the children were significantly higher in the children whose oral hygiene condition, dental experience, tooth extraction experience, spirit status on that day and whose mother's educational background were bad or low. A step regression analysis showed that oral hygiene condition had most significant interrelationship with both of the two scales（P＜0.01）. The correlation of the two scales was high (r=0.67).Conclusion　Children’s oral hygiene condition, dental experience, tooth extraction experience, spirit status on that day and their mother’s educational background are closely related to the dental anxiety level. Oral hygiene condition is the most important predictor of anxiety level before extraction and clinical ratings of behavior during extraction.

Objective The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of intensified cyclic training on bone moulding reconstruction, and to found the scientific basis of intensific cyclic training as a new training methods. Methods 48 male rats were equally divided into two groups: intensive repetitive training group and control group. The upper segment of tibia was harvested from the animals at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th week after the onset of the experiment for the measurement of cortical thickness (CT), mean wall thickness (MWT) and the percentage of osseous surface of trabeculae and surface area of trabecular Absorption (Sr). The data of intensive repetitive trained group were compared with those of the control group. 1 303 recruits were divided into control group and experimental group. In the experimental group, they were trained by intensive repetitive training program instead of the traditional training program. The incidence of stress fracture was compared between two groups. Objective To investigate the variation in expression and the significance of markers indi-cating typeⅠalveolar epithelial cells ( AECⅠ) and type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells ( AECⅡ) in hyperoxia induced bronchopulmonary dysplasia( BPD) model. Methods A total of 80 term normal Wistar rats were randomly devided into model group (85% oxygen) or control group (room air) within 12 h after birth,with 40 rats in each group. On day 7,day 14,day 21 after exposure,the pathological characteristics of lung tissues were observed using HE staining, the expression and location of AECⅠ marker aquaporin 5 ( AQP5 ) and AECⅡmarker surfactant protein-C ( SP-C) were examined using immunofluorescence double staining. West-ern blot analysis was employed to examine the expressions levels of AQP5 and SP-C proteins,while real-time PCR was used to evaluate the mRNA expression of AQP5 and SP-C. Results Alveolar developmental disor-der was observed in lung tissues of the model group,including fewer,larger,simplified alveoli,thicker alveo-lar walls,and fewer alveolar secondary septa. Immunofluorescence double staining showed increased and dis-organized AQP5 and SP-C expression, with significantly higher ratio of double-stained cells/SP-C positive cells in the model group ( P<0. 001 ) . Comparing to the control group, the expression of AQP5 and SP-C protein increased from 7 d after hyperoxia exposure,which continued to 21 d. The mRNA expression levels of these two markers both significantly increased in the model group compared with the control group, with AQP5 starting from 7 d while SP-C starting from 14 d after hyperoxia exposure (P<0. 05),and the differ-ence between two groups became more significant with the exposure time extending. Conclusion The expression of AECⅠ marker AQP5 and AECⅡ marker SP-C both increase in the lung tissues of hyperoxia induced BPD newborn rats,with more AECⅡ transdifferentiated into AECⅠ. These changes of the markers indicate that there is excessive transdifferentiation of AECⅡ in the recovery process after BPD lung injury.

Objective: To test the mechanical properties o f N48 NdFeB magnet.Methods:Samples of N48 NdFeB magnet in the size of 2 mm?3 mm?4 mm were prepared, the residual flux density,coercive force and maximum energy product of the samples were measured, the magnetic density aroun d the magnets,the attractive and repulsive force between two magnets in 0~10 mm air gap were investegated.Results:The residual flux density of t he N48 NdFeB magnet was 1.373 T, coercive force 1 037 A/m and maximum energ y product 368 kJ/m 3.The magnetic density at magnet surface was 0.338 T,it decr eased to 0 at the point that leave magnet surface 20 mm away. The highest attrac tive force was 4.47 N between two magnets, the attractive force was 4.47~0.39 N in 0~5 mm air gap.The highest repulsive force was 2.82 N and the repulsive force was 2.82~0.39 N in 0~5 mm air gap.Conclusion:The magnetic and m echanical properties of the N48 NdFeB magnet can meet the standard of the orthod ontic force.

Objective: To compare the effects of electret and chemical enhancers in enhancing the transdermal delivery of meloxicam. Methods: The study was divided into 4 groups, including meloxicam patch group (control), chemical enhancer + meloxicam patch group, electret meloxicam patch, and electret + chemical enhancer + meloxicam patch group. The in vitro skin permeation of meloxicam from patches was examined by using a modified Franz diffusion cell. Ultraviolet spectrophotometry (362 nm) was used to analyze the drug concentration in the receptor. The 10 h-cumulated permeation amount of meloxicam from patchs was calculated in 3 experimental groups and were compared with that the control group. The enhancing abilities of electret and chemical enhancers were compared and the synergistic effect of them was assessed. Results: (1) 1%, 3% and 5% azones showed 1.20, 1.33, and 1.26 fold-increases in the 10 h-cumulated permeation of meloxiam respectively as compared with control group(P<0.05). (2) Most of the chemical enhancers used in this study(1%, 3% and 5% azones, 10% ethyl oleate, 1% menthnol,and 30% sulphoxiade),except for 20% propylene glycol,had enhancing effect on transdermal delivery of melocicam. Ethyl oleate(10%) was proven to be the most potent enhancer,showing a 1.86-fold cumulated permeation that of the control group(P<0.05); (3) Electret was more potent than the chemical enhancers in promoting meloxicam transdermal delivery, showing a 2.16-fold cumulated permeation that of control group (P<0.05); (4) Electret improved the enhancing effect of chemical enhancers in this study. The cumulated permeation of meloxicam in electret + chemical enhancer + meloxicam patch group was 1.14-2.82 folds that of the chemical enhancer + meloxicam patch group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Electret has a good promoting effect for transdermal drug delivery and can be used as a novel enhancer in transdermal delivery of drugs.
