Objective The double-cavity balloon oppressor surgery for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) has been utilized in past decades. But we have not yet a domestic device available. Present study was to investigate the effectiveness of double-cavity balloon oppressor using a domestic device in primary RRD surgery. Methods This clinical trial was a prospective study. Total 74 cases of patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD) (74 eyes) were enrolled. Double-cavity balloon oppressor surgery was performed in 40 eyes of 40 patients, and conventional segmental scleral buckling surgery was used in 34 eyes of 34 patients. The mean operative time, retinal attachment rate, vision and astigmatism change after operation between two different operative fashions were compared. The intra- and post-operative complication was discussed. The mean follow-up period was 4. 5 months. Written informed consent was obtained from all the patients before clinical trial. Results The retinal anatomic attachment rate was 92. 5% (37/40) in balloon oppressor surgery group and 91. 1% (31/34) in conventional surgery group, and there were no significant difference in retinal attachment rate among PVR grade A, B and C1 (P ＞0. 05) . The postoperative best corrected visual acuity (operative 3 months) was improved in 29 eyes(72. 5%) after balloon oppressor surgery and 25 eyes(73. 5%) after conventional surgery, showing insignificant difference between them (P ＞ 0. 05) . The mean surgical time was about (27. 00 ±8. 60) minutes in balloon oppressor surgery group and (47. 00 ± 14. 30) minutes in conventional surgery group(t =7. 41, P ＜0. 01) . Cylinder diopter change after surgery was insignificantly different between before and after operation in balloon oppressor surgery group (0. 52 ± 0. 30 D vs 0. 81 ± 0. 41 D, P ＞ 0. 05), however, there was a significant difference in cylinder diopter change between preoperation and postoperation (0. 65 ± 0. 32 D vs 1. 83 ± 0. 69 D, P ＜ 0. 05) . Conclusion Double-cavity balloon oppressor surgery for RRD is accurate and reliable. This operation procedure offer an economic, efficient and convenient choice for treatment of RRD.

Objective To investigate death reasons for China rural and urban children who aged between 5 and 14 years old during 2008.Methods Using the illness or injury causes of death and demographic indicators of China Health Statistics Yearbook 2009 to describe 5 to 14 year-old children' s disease-related indicators and causes of death,compare difference between rural and urban children.Results Hospitalization rates (23.0‰ vs 12.1‰, χ2 = 255.584 ), prevalence of two weeks (79.8‰ vs 63.9‰, χ2= 142.446 ), attendance of two weeks (95.6‰ vs 68.1‰, χ2 = 376.954) and prevalence of chronic diseases (9.0‰ vs 7.0‰, χ2 = 18.941 ) of 5 to 14year-old children in rural were all higher than urban children, with statistically significant difference.Injury and poisoning,cancer,congenital diseases were the top three causes of death for 5 to 14 children.In many diseases which caused injury and poisoning,drowning was the first cause of death ,traffic accidents accounted for the second place;suicide was the fourth cause of death for city children and second cause of death for city girls.Conclusion High-risk death reasons for Chinese 5 to 14 year-old children in 2008 are the same, but disease threat on the death of are in varying degrees ,which shows urban-rural and gender differences.

Objective To evaluate the effects of flapless versus flap implant surgery on the tissues surrounding the implants in the esthetic zone.Methods A controlled study was conducted in 20 patients with a single implant in the anterior esthetic zone,as compared with the flapless and traditional flap implant placement.6 and 12 months after the implant ation,the vertical reduction of labial and lingual bone were assessed by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT);6 and 12 months after the crowns restoration,the peri-implant soft tissues were examined by probing depth (PD),modification sulcus bleeding index (mSBI),papillary index (PPI) and evaluated by pink esthetic score (PES) standard.Results The vertical reduction of the flapless labial and lingual bone was lower than that of the flap,in which the change of labial bone was statistical differences at 6 months after implant surgery between groups (P ＜ 0.05).The differences of PES between two groups were not statistically significant,although PES increased over time in both groups,which the flapless group had a significantly change in PES from crown placement to 12 months (P＜0.05).Conclusions A flapless implant surgery in sufficient bone support may provide a better short-term esthetic result,whereas the longterm effects need further studies.

Objective To study the method and effect of subcutaneous pedicle flap based on the orbicularis oculi muscle in the treatment of xanthelasma.Methods According to the situation of xanthelasma and the soft tissues of upper eyelid,two new double-folds eyelid was designed.The soft tissues (including the skin and muscle) between two lines were intended to form a subcutaneous pedicle flap based on the orbicularis oculi muscle.Then,after the excision of xanthelasma from the surface of orbicularis oculi muscle,the flap was transferred to the defected site.Finally,a new double-folds eyelid was made.Results 13 cases with 25 sides were treated with a follow-up period of 3-6 months.All flaps were survived with good functions and the appearance of upper eyelids were satisfactory.Conclusions Subcutaneous pedicle flap based on the orbicularis oculi muscle is a reliable option for the treatment of xanthelasma.It has the advantages of abundant blood supply,convenience and effective.

Objective To regard the implication of viruses particularly herpes in pemphigus vulgaris,and assess and compare the level of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies against herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV1 and HSV2),cytomegalovirus (CMV) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in patients with pemphigus vulgarisand healthy people.Methods In this study,23 patients with pemphigus vulgaris and 26 healthy individuals comprised the experimental and control groups,respectively.Serum samples were taken from both groups;the levels of IgG antibodies against HSV1,HSV2,CMV and EBV were measured using ELISA.Results Immunoglobulin G titer was higher for all four viruses in the patient group in comparison to the control group.This difference was significant for anti-EBV,anti-CMV and anti-HSV2 (t=2.16,P＜0.05;t =4.76,P＜ 0.01;t=3.75,P＜0.01),respectively,but not significant for anti-HSV1 (t=0.52,P＞0.05).Conclusion Viruses including EBV,CMV,and HSV2 probably play a role in the pathogenesis of pemphigus in addition to the effects of genetics,toxins and other predisposing factors.In this study,no statistically significant relationship was observed between HSV1 and pemphigus vulgaris.More studies must be done in this regard.

Objective To study the spatial arrangement of mouse connecting tubules（CNT）and their transition to collecting duct system.Methods The renal tissues of three C57/BL/6J mice were fixed by perfusion and embedded in Epon 812.Totally 2 000 consecutive sections with the thickness of 2.5 μm were obtained from the renal surface to the papilla.The serial images under microscope were digitalized and aligned.Thirty eight CNT were traced with a series of computer programs.Results The CNT from long loop nephron ascended towards renal capsule and merged with 5 to 6 CNT from short loop nephrons to form the so-called arcade,while the latter or some of the CNT from the superficial cortex directly drained into the collecting duct in the superficial cortex.The lengths of CNT and the arcade ranged from 150 μm to 500 μm and 600 μm to 900 μm respectively.Conclusion The arcade or CNT drains into collecting duct only at superficial cortical level,which suggests that the reabsorption of the glomerular ultra-filtration in collecting ducts keeps unaffected when collecting duct runs through middle to deeper cortex.

The growth rates of domestic and foreign literature were respectively 35.7% and 33.7%,some professional journals and more powerful professional scientific research institutions and core authors who acquired patents and cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements were initially developed.Conclusion Behavioral Medicine uses the advantages of interdisciplinary, focusing on pathogenic mechanisms,influencing factors and treatment, rehabilitation mechanism of psychological and behavioral factors, especially on the effect social and family environment on human physical and mental health, to promote health promotion and medical pattern changing.

Objective To investigate the dynamic expression from gene and protein levels of hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α) during the development of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH) in neonatal rats.Methods A neonatal rat model of HPH was established,normal neonatal rats were enrolled as the control group.At the 3th 、7th、10th and 14th days,we measured the mRVSP through catheterization of right ventricule,collected hearts to figure out the right ventricular hypertrophy index(RVHI),evaluated vascular remodeling by the percentage of medial thickness to outer diameter of the small pulmonary arteries (MT％) and the percentage of medial cross section on area to the total cross section area of the pulmonary small arteries (MA％),observed the expression of HIF-1α by immunochemistry,and measured the expression of HIF-1α in mRNA and protein by RT-PCR and Western blot respectively.Results The mRVSP increased at the 3th day,and sustained until the 14th day (P ＜ 0.01).RVHI MT％ and MA％ increased at the 7th day,and sustained until the 14th day (P ＜0.01).HIF-1α mainly expressed in endothelium and smooth muscle cells in the CHPH group and the HIF-1αmRNA increased significantly on the 3th and 7th days (P ＜ 0.05),and the HIF-1α protein increased significantly on the 7th、10th and 14th days in the CHPH group compared with the control group(P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion The mRVSP increased at the early stage after hypoxic exposure in neonatal rats,followed by vascular remodeling and right ventricular hypertrophy.Both mRNA and protein levels of HIF-1α sustained higher than control group during the vascular remodeling stage,indicating that HIF-1α might be a important factor contributing to the vascular remodeling.
