Objective: To study the clinical value of home monitoring system of pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-deifbrillators (ICD) in relevant patients.
Methods: A total of 33 patients with home monitoring system of pacemaker implantation or ICD treated in our hospital from 2011-02 to 2014-07 were retrospectively recruited. There were 28 patients with dual chamber pacemaker, 4 with ICD and 1 with cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemaker (CRTP). The patients included 23 male and 10 female at the age of (68.4 ± 9.2) years. The rate of successful data transmission, threshold changes and arrhythmia occurrence were analyzed.
Results: Up to 2014-10, a total 24516 messages were successfully transmitted with the success rate of 97.4%, the rate of no-message transmission was 2.6%. The home monitoring system fund 89 abnormal events including 73 disease related events (82.0%) and 16 system related events (18.0%).
Conclusion: Home monitoring system was a safe, reliable and effective monitoring equipment for cardiovascular implantable electronic devices; according to transmitted message, the parameters of devices could be adjusted in time for treating arrhythmia in relevant patients.

Objective To investigate the visual impairment and its rehabilitation after stroke.Methods After diagnosis of stroke by the neurologists, the patients received examinations of ocular pathology and visual function, especially in vision correction and rehabilitation. Results Five hundred and forty-seven stroke patients were recruited. 47.0% of the patients had eye alignment/movement impairment, 34.0% had visual field impairment, 19. 0% had visual perceptual difficulties and 19.9% had low vision blind. After using telescope, 35.7% blind patient's distance vision was ≥0.05; 58.2% low vision patient's distance vision was ≥0.3. After refraction (average vision:0.36±0.34 vs. 0.48 ±0.36,t =- 3.949,P=0.03) or using telescope(average vision of patients had low vision:0. 13±0. 07 vs. 0. 46±0.26,t=-5. 208,P=0.01 ;average vision of blind patients:0. 01 ±0.01 vs. 0. 06±0. 05,t = -3. 628, P= 0. 05), the improvement of vision for patients was significant.Conclusions The 72% of stroke patients has some kinds of visual impairment, which will affect not only the patients' independent living but also the clinical rehabilitation. Refraction and using telescope are effective for vision rehabilitation. Doctors should pay much attention to the visual therapy and rehabilitation for the stroke patients.

Objective To study the effect of using handhold magnifier on reading speed in patients with low vision and normal-sighted people. Design Prospective,control study. Participants Low vision (13 patients)and normal-sighted readers (37 persons) who use handhold magnifiers or the first time. Method Nine-point text was read by normal vision subjects without magnifier and then with two magnifiers with different magnification (+10 D,+20 D) in different eye-to-magnifier distance (10 cm,35 cm). Nine-point text was also read by low vision people with magnifiers. The big printed text under the same magnification without magnifier was also read by low vision group. Reading speed was recorded. Main Outcome Measures Reading speed (words per minute). Result For normal vision subjects,reading speed without magnifier (194.6?45.2 words/min) is faster than that with a 10D magnifier in an eye-to-magnifier distance of 10cm (159.7?44.7 words/min) (P=0.001),and distance of 35cm (162.5?46.7words/min) (P=0.002),respectively. Reading speed without magnifier is also faster than that with a 20D magnifier in an eye-to-magnifier distance of 10cm (150.3?43.3 words/min) (P

Aim To observe the anti-tumor activity and the mechanism of heparan sulfate proteoglycan(HSPG) on C3H mice transplanted tumors.Methods Tumor model was established and randomly divided into five groups.HSPG groups(5,10,50 mg?kg-1),positive group and control group,intraperitoneal injection was performed once a day for 22 days and the volume of tumors was measured.Mice were treated on 24th day,then tumor weight was examined,thymus index,and spleen index were calculated,the apoptosis was determined by TdT-mediated Dutp nick end labeling(TUNEL) assay in situ,the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) was detected by immunohistochemistry.Results The tumor volume in HSPG groups was reduced without the decrease of thymus index,spleen index.TUNEL assay in situ showed numerous heavy blue apoptosis cells in the HSPG groups significantly higher than in control groups.The tumors in HSPG groups showed significantly lower VEGF expression than those in control group.Conclusion HSPG had significant anti-tumor effects on C3H mice transplantable breast cancer.The mechanisms may be associated with the effects of inducing tumor cell apoptosis and inhibiting the VEGF expression.

Aim To investigate the inhibition of MEK/ERK pathway affecting the sensitivity of human breast carcinoma cells SK-BR-3 to endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stress-induced apoptosis and wish to find new targets for human breast carcinoma chemotherapy.Methods Different concentrations(0,1.5,3,6,9 and 12 ?mol?L-1) tunicamycin(TM) treated human breast carcinoma cells SK-BR-3 for 48 h,then propidium iodide(PI) staining measured apoptotic cells in Flow Cytometry(FCM).Different times(0,6,12,24 and 36 h) of TM(3 ?mol?L-1) treated SK-BR-3 cells,Western blot measured proteins GRP78,ERK1/2 and pERK expression.MEK inhibitor U0126(20 ?mol?L-1) pretreated cells for 1 h before treatment with TM(3 ?mol?L-1) in different concentrations and times,measured above identical indexes and compared with their diversities of treatment with U0126 or not.Results TM induced apoptotic cells

Objective To investigate the effect of phenylhexyle isothiocyanate (PHI) on demethylation and activation of transcription gene p15 in acute leukemia cell line Molt-4. Methods DNA sequencing and modified methylation specific PCR (MSP) were used to screen p15-M and p15-U mRNA after Moh-4 cells were treated with PHI. P15 mRNA was measured by RT-PCR. Pl5 protein was detected by Western blotting. Results Hypermethylation of gene pl5 was apparently attenuated and activation of transcription p15 gene was de novo after 5 days exposure to PHI. PHI enhanced both the expression of p15 mRNA and p15 protein in a concentration-dependent manner. The ratio of the gray scale of p15 mRNA strap was 0.17±0.12 in control, 0.29±0.14 in PHI 10 μmol/L, 0.55±0.07 in PHI 20 μmol/L, 0.93±0.13 in PHI 40 μmol/L. Conclusion PHI could active demethylation and transcription of gene p15.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of proximal percutaneous pedicle screw fixation combined with distal open osteotomy for sagittal plane imbalance of adult spinal deformity.Methods From January 2011 to June 2015,23 patients with diagnosis of adult spinal deformity were treated with proximal percutaneous pedicle screw fixation combined with distal open osteotomy,there were 8 males and 15 females,aged from 52 to 67 years old (average,62.1 years old).The operation time,blood loss,drainage and perioperative complications were recorded;standing anteroposterior and lateral radiographs of the whole spine were taken and the following parameters were measured:sagittal vertical axis (SVA),lumbar lordosis(LL),pelvic tilt (PT),sacral slope (SS),pelvic incidence/lumbar lordosis mismatch (PI-LL),the above parameters were compared between preoperation and postoperation.Oswestry disability index (ODI) was used to evaluate the clinical efficacy.Results The mean operation time was 253.9±52.1 min,the mean blood loss and drainage was 1 258.5±272.2 ml and 725.1 ± 135.2 ml.No patient got infected,died or had deep vein thrombosis.All patients were followed up for an average of 21.2 months (range,13-52 m).The SVA was restored from 12.6±1.4 cm to 3.5±0.7 cm.In addition,LL,SS,PT,and PL-LL were improved from 13.5°±2.3°,13.9°±2.3°,29.7°±9.6°,29.5°±13.7° to 38.8°±9.6°,25.5°±5.8°,18.9°±8.2°,7.1°±3.6°.The ODI score decreased from 40.3％±12.5％ to 13.6％±2.57％ at the time of the last follow-up compared with preoperation.Conclusion Proximal percutaneous pedicle screw fixation combined with distal open osteotomy for sagittal plane imbalance of adult spinal deformity could restore the sagittal balance and improve the quality of life.

Objective:To evaluate the effects of endovascular embolization and microsurgical clipping on cognitive function in patients with intracranial aneurysm.Methods:A total of 80 patients with intracranial aneurysms,who were treated in Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2014 to September 2015,were selected and randomly divided into control group(n=40) and experimental group (n=40).The control group was treated with microsurgical clipping,and the experimental group,with endovascular embolization.The postoperative cognitive function was assessed by the mini mental state examination scale (MMSE),and length of stay,in-hospital mortality rate,mortality rate in 1 year and the incidence of postoperative adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:The total score (26.78± 0.85) of MMSE in the experimental group was higher than that (22.25± 0.63) of the control group (P＜0.05).The cognitive dysfunction rate (37.50％) of the experimental group was lower than that (55.00％) of the control group (P＜0.05).The length of stay [(6.7± 3.9) days] of the experimental group was lower than that [(9.6± 4.5) days] of the control group(P＜0.05).There were no significant differences in in-hospital mortality rate and mortality rate in 1 year,and the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P＞0.05).Conclusion:Endovascular interventional therapy can improve the cognitive function of the patients with intracranial aneurysms and shorten the length of hospital stay.

Cerebral apoplexy is one of the main causes of death in the middle-aged and elderly population,which has higher mortality and disability rate.The incidence of the disease is increasing year by year and it is a serious threat to human life and health.Therefore,it is of great significance to find an effective target for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke.Thioredoxin (Trx) is the major thiol reducing agent in the cells,it is involved in many signal transduction pathways in the cells by regulating the redox state of the cell.It has disulphide reductase activity,which can reduce the oxidative stress injury in the rats after the stroke.Thioredoxin interacting protein (TXNIP) is an endogenous inhibitor of Trx,it can destroy the redox balance and promote the oxidative stress by binding/inhibiting the activity of Trx,while the inhibition or knockdown of TXNIP has obvious neuroprotective effects.Recent studies suggest that Trx/TXNIP may be involved in the pathophysiology of cerebral apoplexy by a variety of pathways.This article analyses the research status of Trx/TXNIP and studies the localization of Trx system in the central nervous system and the progress of Trx system in ischemic cerebral apoplexy.It reviews the mechanism of Trx/TXNIP in cerebral apoplexy and prospectes the signaling pathways involved in the pathophysiological process of Trx/TXNIP to provide new ideas for the treatment of cerebral apoplexy.

This study is to investigate the effects of cisplatin combined with heparanase inhibitor OGT2115 on proliferation, invasion and migration of human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells CNE-2 and to provide a new target for the treatment of metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. MTT assay was used to detect the cell viability of CNE-2 after exposure to different concentrations of DDP (2, 4, 8, 16 and 32 micromol x L(-1)), different concentrations of OGT2115 (0.4, 0.8, 1.6, 3.2 and 6.4 micromol x L(-1)), and DDP combined with OGT2115. Transwell assay was applied to analyze the effects of drugs on invasion and migration of human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. Wound healing assay was performed to detect cell migration and heparanase activity was analyzed by ELISA. MTT results showed that DDP can inhibit the proliferation of CNE-2 cells in a time and concentration-dependent manner, with an IC50 of 24.03 micromol x L(-1) at 24 h (P < 0.05), low concentration of DDP has almost no inhibitory effect on cell invasion and migration. DDP combined with OGT2115 can significantly inhibit cell invasion and migration. Inhibition of heparanase can significantly enhance anti-invasion and anti-proliferation of DDP.
