Objective: To study the treatment of complicated and giant carotid body tumor. Methods: A giant carotid body tumor was dissected 2 years ago. The external carotid artery was embolized by means of catheterization before surgical intervention, and techniques of internal shunting and autogenous blood transfusion was used during the operation. Results: The tumor was resected completely without cerebral vessel disorders and major cephalic nerve injuries. Conclusion: The application of radial intervention of external carotid artery, shunting of internal carotid artery and autogenous blood transfusion are helpful to the treatment of giant and re operative carotid body tumor.

We investigated the serotype,drug resistance features,molecular types,and homology of Salmonella in diarrhea in Tai'an City,and provided scientific evidences for warning,control and clinical treatment.The 31 Salmonella strains isolated from stool specimens of diarrhea in Tai'an were identified by serotyping.Broth dilution technique was used to test the sensitivity of 31 strains of Salmonella to 16 antibiotics.Pulsed field gel-electrophoresis (PFGE) was used for molecular typing and cluster analysis.Results showed that 31 strains of Salmonella were divided into 10 kinds of serotype.S.enteritidis (11/31) was the predominant serotype.All 31 strains of Salmonella were sensitive to cefoxitin and imipenem.The drug resistance rates of the 31 strains of Salmonella were 77.42 ％ (24/31) to sulfafurazole.The 31 strains of Salmonella were divided into 17 patterns by PFGE,with 100％ similarity for each pattern.All the results suggest that there are more serious problems in multiple drug resistance.The genetic variation of S.enteritidis is relatively conservative.Early warning and control on S.enteritidis are exposed to reinforce.

Objective To investigate the roles of interleukin(IL)-25,eosinophils in the occurrence of bronchial asthma.Methods Selected 30 cases of acute episode of asthma(asthma group),and ease a group of 23 cases of asthma treatment(remission group),20 cases of the normal control group.Using the method of gradient ultrasonic atomizing inhalation of Hyperosmotic saline collection of induced sputum specimens,by ELISA method for the determination IL-25 level in induced sputum,count of eosinophils,analysis of correlation between them.Results Group IL-25 in induced sputum of asthma and eosinophil levels[(313.12±75.64)ng/L vs(236.43±57.90)ng/L]were sig-nificandy higher than the control group[(0.386±0.267) × 109/L vs(0.005±0.002) × 109/L],and significantly higher than acute stage in remission stage[(268.63 + 40.19) ng/L,(0.120 + 0.016) × 109/L](P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion IL-25 has an important role in asthma development.It provides a new way of thinking for monitoring and treatment.

Objective To evaluate the value on screening of diabetic retinopathy with digital fundus photography.Design Prospective observational case series.Participant Consecutive 108 patients with typeⅠand typeⅡdiabetes mellitus,without proliferat- ed diabetic retinopathy determined by dilated ophthalmoscopy in Beijing Tongren Hospital.Methods All the patients received six-fields color fundus mydriatic photography after mydriasis and fundus fluorescein angiography.Diagnosis and grading were made based on fun- dus photography of one-field,two-fields,and six-fields.Fundus fluorescein angiography served as the reference standard.Main Out- come Measures Sensitivity,specificity and kappa value of kappa analyses.Results In comparison with fundus fluorescein angiography, if taking mild nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy as referable diabetic retinopathy,one-field fundus photography gave a sensitivity of 73.21%,a specificity of 88.64%,and a kappa statistic of 0.46,while two-fields fundus photography gave a sensitivity of 75.00%,speci- ficity of 86.36%,and a kappa statistic of 0.47,and the six-fields fundus photography gave a sensitivity of 76.05%,specificity of 87.80% and a kappa statistic of 0.48.If taking moderate nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy as referable diabetic retinopathy,one-field fundus photography gave a sensitivity of 72.46%,a specificity of 93.01%,and a kappa statistic of 0.68,while two-fields fundus photography gave a sensitivity of 73.91%,specificity of 93.01%,and a kappa statistic of 0.69,and the six-fields mydriatic digital photography gave a sensitivity of 75.36%,specificity of 92.81% and a kappa statistic of 0.70.In comparison with six-fields fundus photography,one-field fundus photography gave a kappa statistic of 0.97.Conclusion One-field mydriatic digital fundus photography centered at fovea for screening of early diabetic retinopathy especially stage DR2 or more severe is feasible

Mitochondria DNA was isolated from darkgrown shoots of Xi Feng A according to the procedure reported previously. Mitochondria DNA was digested with EcoR1 completely, and ligated with pUC19 vector DNA which was digested with EcoR1. The ligated DNA was transformed into E. coli JM101. The transformants were selected on LB medium which containing ampicillin 50ug/ml. All of the bacterial clones were hybridized with 32P-labelled maize 26S rRNA gene, seven positive clones were obtained. The plasmid DNAs were isolated from the clones and digested with EcoR1 and southern transferred to NC paper. The membrance was hybridized with maize 26S rRNA probe. One clone which a shortest hybridization band (1.3kb) was named pXMT1.
