Objective To evaluate incisor root resorption of adults with skeletal classⅢmalocclusion through three-dimensional reconstruction of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) image using interacting medical imaging control sys?tem (Mimics) and then offer guidance for labially tilted angle control in orthodontic treatment and distance of bone moving in surgery. Methods Adults of skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusion (n=30) who underwent orthodontic-orthognathic combination treatment were included in this study. CBCT images were then reconstructed three-dimensionally using Mimics 10.01. Each incisor were separated at cementum-enamel junction as crown and root. Labially tilted angle and root volumes of each inci?sor were measured before and after operations. At last, the correlativity between root resorption and labially tilted angle was calculated through statistic analysis. Results The decrement of upper, lower and front incisors’root volumes upon treat?ment is statistically significant. However, there is no statistically significant difference of incisor ’s root volumes among eight incisors nor between different gender. There is linear correlation between root volumes and labially tilted angle when the lat?ter changes 7° or more when they followed the fomular =-21.416+5.618X. Conclusion For adults with skeletal classⅢmalocclusion, orthodontic treatment before orthognathic surgery decrease incisor root volumes when labially tilted angle changes 7° or more.

Objective To establish a new Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori) infection model which is more stable and to find the relationship between H. ~pylori infection and gastric carcinogenesis induced by nitrosourea. Methods A total of 94 Balb/c mice were divided into four groups. Two groups of mice were inoculated with H.pylori, among which one group of mice received continuous N-methyl-N-nitrosourea(MNU) administration via the drinking water. The third group were only given MNU, and the forth as control. After 36 weeks, all the mice were ~sacrificed . The infection of H.pylori in gastric mucosa of the mice was analyzed by rapid urease test, ~Giemsa staining and culture. The histopathological changes in the gastric mucosa of mice were assessed in ~H-E stained sections. Results The total infection rate of H.~pylori in Balb/c mice was 93.9%. All the mice in group with H.pylori infection alone had chronic gastritis, in which 20.0% was atrophic gastritis. In the group of mice with H.pylori infection and MNU intake, all had chronic gastritis, and among them 23.1% had atrophic gastritis, 42.3% corpus dysplasia and 57.7% antrum dysplasia. In this group, two mice (7.1%) with low differentiated adenocarcinoma were found. Compared with control group, two groups with H. ~pylori infection only and H. ~pylori plus MNU intake reached statistical difference in the view of inflammatory latitude (P

BACKGROUND: A number of studies have suggested that lycopene is an antioxidant which is used to decrease the risk of age-related chronic diseases.OBJECTIVE: To establish a rat model of postmenopausal osteoporosis, and to investigate the effects of lycopene in preventing bone loss in ovatiectomized rat models of osteoporosis.METHODS: The 6-month-old female Wistar rats, SPF grade, which had never given birth, were divided into sham and ovatiectomized groups. The ovatiectomized rats were further sub-divided into four groups which were administered with corn oil orally as model group, lycopene (10 mg/kg, 20 mg/kg, daily) or treated by intraperitoneal injection with estradiol benzoate (25 mg/kg, twice).RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: After 12-week administration, as compared with the model group, the uterus weight of high-dose and low-dose lycopene groups significantly increased (P < 0.05); the Ca, P, superoxide dismutase levels, percent trabecular area, and trabecular number were obviously higher, and serum alkaline phosphatase, urine deoxypyridinoline, malondialdehyde, trabecular separation and number of osteoclasts were obviously lower in the lycopene groups than the model group (P < 0.05). The bone mass index, bone bio-mechanics and bone histomorphometry were better in the lycopene groups than the model group (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that lycopene has a definite antiosteoporotic effect on ovatiectomized rats.

Objective:To purify and characterize the major antigenic components of sand swimming crab, and provide theoretical evidences for the research of standardization of allergenic vaccine. Methods:The crude extract of Linnaeus was prepared using classical method, and electrophoresis of SDS-PAGE was used to separate the proteins of each group. The allergen proteins of 26 crab were identified using Western blot. To distinguish between the primary allergen proteins and secondary allergen proteins, FPLC(Gel Chromatography and ion exchange chromatography) was used to filtrate and identify the allergen protein.Results:SDS-PAGE analysis revealed that sand swimming crab proteins were composed of at lease 9 discrete protein bands, which molecular weight ranging from 13 000 to 90 000. Major bands were of 20 900, 24 200, 27 100, 29 200, 33 700, 38 900, 48 700, 74 700, 89 100 respectively. Western blot assay indicated that the crude extract reacted with sera obtained from 26 crab allergenic subjects and contained 5 allergen bands altogether, and the bands of 74 400 and 48 700 were the major allergenic components. The positive rates of the two major allergen proteins were both 100%, indicating the allergenic components maintained the immunocompetence after yielding from chromatography. Conclusion:The 74 400 and 48 700 bands are the major allergens of sand swimming crab. The major allergen proteins can be purified by chromatography.

Objective To investigate the change and correlation between hard-tissue and soft-tissue in patients with class III malocclusion after premolar extraction treatment. Methods Thirty-four adult patients with skeletal classⅢmalocclusion who met the including criteria were included in this retrospective study. The lateral cephalographs were traced and analysed before and after the treatment. Results After orthodontic treatment, the values of long axis of upper incisors and S-N angle (U1-SN) and long axis of lower incisors-mandibular plane (L1-MP) were decreased, and the angle of man-dibular plane (MP-FH) was increased (P<0.01). The SL line was used as a reference, the protrusion of upper incisor (UI-SL) and upper lips (UL-SL) was decreased, and the protrusion of lower incisors (LI-SL) and lower lips (LL-SL) was also de-creased after orthodontic treatment (P<0.05 or P<0.01). There was no significant difference in the relevant measurements of chin. The retraction of upper incisor (△UL-SL) was the only measurement that was positively correlated with upper lip re-traction (△UI-SL). The retraction of upper incisor (△UI-SL) and lower incisor (△LI-SL) were positively correlated with the lower lip retraction (△LL-SL). There was a positive correlation between△UI-SL and△LL-SL. Conclusion The soft-tissue profile improved significantly after four premolars extraction. The change of soft-tissue profile was moderate correlated with hard-tissue.
