Objective To assess the clinical application of STIR sequences in the diagnosis of traumanic marrow edema. Methods Twenty-eight cases of traumanic marrow edema were found on MRI exam. Except routine SE T1WI?FSE T2WI and GE T2*WI, STIR sequence was performed.Results Thirty-six bone marrow edema were found in 28 cases, 24 lesions(67%)were all hypointensity on T1WI,12 lesions(33%)were depicted on T2WI, 8 lesions presented hypointensity and 4 mild hyperintensity. 29 lesions(80%)on T2*WI,14 were hypointensity and 15 hyperintensity. With STIR, 36 lesions(100%) displayed as hyperintensity signal more clearly.Conclusion STIR is good delineating traumanic marrow edema.

AIM: To explore the feasibility of bone tissue regeneration guidance with the frozen heterogeneous periosteum. METHODS: The experiment was conducted in the animal laboratory of Beijing Shijitan Hospital from March to December 2002. ①Preparation of the frozen heterogeneous periosteum: The fresh pigs' cranial or rib bone periosteum was taken and washed with saline solution repeatedly, then defatted by immersion in 0.75 volume fraction alcohol, followed by frozen in the liquor of nitrogen for 10 minutes repeatedly for 3 times. After irradiated under ?-ray up to the amount of 3 kGy, the created membrane was placed in refrigerator for using. ②Surgical procedure: Two artificial mandibular bone defects were performed in 30 adult Japanese white big ear rabbits. One defect was covered with the created membrane as the experimental group, while another as the control group. ③Index observation: The rabbits were sacrificed after 2, 4, 8, 12, 16 weeks postoperatively for macroscopic, radiographic and histopathological observation. RESULTS: All 30 rabbits were involved in the result analysis. ①Macroscopic examination of the two groups: At the eighth week, guiding membrane was observed with irregular border. The experiment group was flat and stiff, while the control group was restored but with soft bone; at the twelfth week, the guiding membrane and surrounding border were unclear, but still could be observed. The newly bone of the experiment group was flat and stiff, while the control group was soft with hollow. ②Histopathological examination: At the eighth week, the new-formed bone in the margin of defect area of the experimental group grew intensively and the inflammatory cells in grafted membrane disappeared; intramembrane fiber was found oedema and broken; at the twelfth week, the trabecular bone of the experimental group was thick and arranged regularly. However, in the control group, the newly formed bone was little in the defect, and the trabecular bone was thinner compared with the experimental group. No evidence of inflammatory reactions was apparent, meanwhile the membrane degraded gradually. ③Radiograph examination: The bone density of the experimental group was greater than the control group at 4 and 8 weeks, and had no significant difference as to the vicinity bone at 12 and 16 weeks; on the other hand, the density of the control group was still lower. CONCLUSION: The frozen heterogeneous periosteum is a useful guiding membrane material for tissue regeneration, because it has no obvious rejection action in body, and could maintain its shape for 8-12 weeks, prevent the fiber tissue from growing into the wound surface, separate different cells and guide tissue regeneration.

Objective To identify the potential value of event-related potentials ( ERPs ) and electroencephalogram(EEG) in early diagnosis of dementia.Methods From June 2008 to July 2011,113 patients with dementia were recruited fom First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Meanwhile,100 healthy individuals conducting physical examination at this hospital were collected as the control group.P300 and EEG were measured in patients and healthy controls.Results ( 1 ) Compared with healthy controls,patients with early diagnosis of dementia had significantly longer latency(402.5 ± 37.4)ms vs.( 320.4 ± 23.5 ) ms ;t =19.40 ; P =0.02 ) and lower amplitude of P300 ( 3.76 ± 1.76 ) μV vs.( 5.32 ± 1.38 )μV;t=7.24;P=0.01 ).(2)Significant higher proportionof abnormal EEG cases was found in individuals with dementia (68/113,60.2％ ) than that of participants in the healthy control group(34/100,34.0％ ) ( x2 =13.54,P ＜0.01 ).Specifically,patients with early diagnosis of dementia had significantly higher prevalence of moderate (26.5 ％ [ 18/68 ] vs.5.9 ％ [ 2/34 ] ; x2 =4.85,P =0.02 ) and severe ( 8.8 ％ [ 6/68 ] vs.2.9 ％ [ 1/34 ] ; x2 =1.22,P =0.02 ) abnormal EEG than healthy controls,while there were no significant difference of the proportions of mild or borderline abnormal EEG between the two groups ( P ＞ 0.05 ).Conclusion P300 is an extraordinary objective indicator for early diagnosis of dementia.EEG can provide evidence of impaired brain function for individuals with dementia.

Objective:To prepare the vaccine of DC derived from human peripheral blood and transfected with HPV16E6 antigen gene, and to detect its morphological character,surface marker and immunological effect.Methods:DC-enriched populations were prepared from human peripheral blood mononuclear cell(PBMC) with the combination of rhGM-CSF,rhIL-4 and rhTNF-?. The plasmid containing HPV16E6 gene was transfected into DC with lipofectamine. The morphology of DC was observed dynamically, and the expression of surface markers of DC vaccine could be detected using immuno-cytochemical staining and flow cytometry. MTT assay was applied to detect the activity of CTL in vitro.Results:The transfected DC had typical morphologic and phenotypic characteristics, and expressed E6 protein 47.3%, CD80 82.5%, CD86 79.8% and CD83 85.7%. The killing activities of CTL to Caski cells induced by transfected DC were higher evidently than that of control groups(P

The preventive effect of garlic against toxicity of dimethylnitrosamine (NDMA) in rats medicated with aminopyrine (AP) and NaNO2 was investigated. 28 rats were divided into three groups. The 6 rats of group C were set as control taking basal diet; the 10 rats of group B were given basal diet, AP, and NaNO2; the 12 rats of group A were given basal diet with an addition of 10% of garlic, AP and NaNO2. AP and NaNO2 in the dosage of 30 mg per kg of body weight were dissolved in 0.5% acetic acid and given by gavage to rats of groups A and B.During the experimental period of 35 days, 3 rats of group B died while all the rats of group A survived. At the end of the experiment, Hb, SGPT and SGOT were determined and all rats were killed for pathological studies. It was found Hb value of group A was higher than that of group B (P

The treatment of static and dynamic combination theory for fractures and other orthopedic disorders is to use the localized stress fracture, and the stress controls bone formation results through afffecting proliferation of osteoblast differentiation, which has proved by relevant experimental evidence. Recent studies have shown that TCM treatment for bone metabolic diseases, such as steroid-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head, has definite efficacy and has received extensive attention. However, due to lack of molecular biological basis of pharmacodynamics mechanism, it has not yet reached the standard of scientific treatment. The discovery of OPG/RANK/RANKL system has become a new breakthrough point in the prevention and treatment of bone metabolic diseases. The pathogenesis of deficiency of spleen and kidney - blood stasis - caused by phlegm arthralgia caused by blood stasis is closely related to the system. The effect of the final control of the system from the deficiency theory can be expressed through the axial micro-information. This article discussed the TCM syndrome differentiation of steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head and the relation of regulation of bone metabolism combined with the OPG/RANK/RANKL system, and provided the basis for prevention and treatment of this disease.

Objective To explore the influencing factors of ICU nurses' perception disturbance in pain management.Methods One hundred and fifty-seven ICU nurses recruited from 5 first glass grade A hospitals in Guangdong were involved in the survey by the Perception Disturbance in Pain Management Scale.Results The average total score of the ICU nurses by the scale was(3.00±0.38). The dimensions were ranked in an ascending order to be‘nurses themselves’(3.16±0.45),‘government and hospital policies’ (3.11±0.74)and‘patients and their families’(2.59±0.49).The major factors influencing the disturbance were work experience and attention from the hospital administration.Conclusions ICU nurses have disturbance of perception in pain management.The training on pain management to them should be enhanced and the attention to the disturbance from hospital administration should be improved for the purpose of improving their knowledge on pain management and reducing the disturbance of perceptioin.

Objective To explore how to control schistosomiasis at the presence of snails in lake marshland. Methods From March 1st to October 31st every year, 2000-2002- the measure of "marshland isolation and farming prohibition" was carried out. Local residents and cattle were examined and treated for schistosomiasis. Results The infections rate of schistosomiasis in surveillance spots decreased from 2.66% (1999) to 1.66% (2002). The infections rate was 0.57% (5/ 871 ) in the township. There were no acute schislosomiasis cases and new patients. The rate of schistosomiasis of cattle decreased from 4. 90% (1999) to 0. 14% . and there was no new calf under two years of age infected. The rale of infected snails decreased from 1. 450% to 0. 005% , and the density of positive snails from 0. 014 8 snail /0. 1 m2 to 0. 000 11 snail/0. 1 m2. Conclusion The measure, mainly including "marshland isolation and farming prohibition", can control schistosomiasis prevalence even at the presence of snails in lake marshland.
