Objective To investigate the effect of a single dose of propofol at the end of surgery on pediatric anesthesia emergence delirium undergoing adenotonsillectomy during sevoflurane anesthesia. Methods Sixty pediatric patients for adenotonsillectomy were randomly divided into propofol group and control group (30 cases in each group), they were undergoing sevoflurane induction and maintaince. The pediatric patients in propofol group were received 1 mg/kg 10% of the propofol intravenous injection at the end of surgery, while the pediatric patients in control group were received the same volume physiological sailine intravenous injection. Duration of surgery, sevoflurane administration, anesthesia time, extubation time were recorded. The highest PAED score after extubation in 30 min were recorded. The time spent in PACU and the FLACC pain score were recorded. Results The PAED score in propofol group was significantly lower than that in control group [(7.5 ± 3.9) scores vs (10.9 ±4.5) scores, P<0.05]. The incidence rate of postoperative delirium in propofol group was significantly lower than that in control group [20.0% (6/30) vs 46.7% (14/30), P < 0.05 ] . Duration of extubation in propofol group was slightly longer than that in control group[(10.2 ± 1.1 ) min vs (9.1 ± 1 .5 ) min, P < 0.05].There was no statistical significant difference in duration of anesthesia, the time spent in PACU and the FLACC pain score (P >0.05).Conclusions The administration a single dose of 1 mg/kg propofol at the end of surgery can effectively reduce pediatric anesthesia emergence delirium undergoing adenotonsillectomy during sevoflurane anesthesia, while can't extend the duration of anesthesia and the time spent in PACU. It has some clinical value.

AIM To investigate the transdermal delivery effects of cyclosporine A solubilized in mixed micelles composed of phospholipid and different surfactants. METHODS When applied onto the excised abdominal skin of the mice occlusively, the enhancing effects of various mixed micelles on the penetration of cyclosporin A were assessed by an in vitro permeation technique. In vivo study was carried out by topical application of sodium cholate-phospholipid mixed micelles onto the mice skin and drug blood concentration was detected. RESULTS In vitro, mixed micelles containing different surfactants displayed distinct permeability and corresponded to the following order: sodium cholate > sodium deoxycholate > Trition X-100 > Tween-20. In vivo, peak drug concentration was detected at 5 h and after that the concentration fell down slowly. CONCLUSION Mixed micelles were shown to be efficient carrier for the transdermal delivery of the lipophilic polypeptide when kept in solution during the application process.

AIM: To investigate the effect of propofol on expression of protein kinase C (PKC) mRNA during pulmonary ischemia and reperfusion injury (PIRI) in rabbits. METHODS: Single lung ischemia and reperfusion animal model was used in vivo. The rabbits were randomly divided into three groups ( n =9 in each): sham operated group (sham), PIR group (I-R) and PIR+ propofol group (PPF). Changes of several parameters including malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), wet to dry ratio of lung tissue weight (W/D) and index of quantitative assessment of histologic lung injury (IQA) were measured at 60 minutes after reperfusion in lung tissue. Meanwhile the location and expression of PKC mRNA were observed. Lung tissue was also prepared for light microscopic and electron microscopic observation at 60 minutes after reperfusion. RESULTS: As compared with group I-R, PKC mRNA strongly expressed in intima and extima of small pulmonary artery as well as thin-wall vessels (mostly small pulmonary veins) in PPF group. The average optical density values of PKC-?、? and ? mRNA in small pulmonary veins PPF in group showed significantly higher than that in I-R group (all P

Objective To investigate the changes of traditional Chinese medical constitution types with menstrual cycle of sub-health state women, thus to explore the affectability of diseases during menstrual cycle. Methods Sub-health State Questionnaire and Menstruation State Questionnaire established in our previous study were used for the epidemiological survey of 330 women outpatients aged 20-45 years admitted by the disease-preventive department of Tianhe District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Results In 330 cases, the cases of sub-health state accounted for 64.5%, in which 21.5%had pure sub-health state without any chronic diseases, and 43.0% had sub-health state together with some diseases. The diseases of hyperplasia of mammary glands, vaginitis, cervical spondylosis, hyperlipemia, chronic appendagitis, and uterus myoma had higher morbidity rate in order. At premenstrual phase, constitution types of Qi stagnation, damp heat, and blood stasis had the higher incidences; at menstruation phase, Qi stagnation, blood stasis, and damp heat had the higher incidences; at postmenstrual phase, yang deficiency, Qi deficiency, and damp heat had the higher incidences. Most of the sub-health state women had the complex constitution types, accounting for 93%. Conclusion Traditional Chinese medical constitution types are correlated with menstral cycle of sub-health state women, and show some effects on the affectability and progress of diseases. The investigation results of dynamic changes and the distribution of traditional Chinese medical constitution types during menstrual cycle will supply some evidence for the prevention and treatment of irregular menstruation and sub-health state of the women with Chinese medine.
