Objective To explore the clinical value of real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT-3DE) in percutaneous transcatheter closure treatment of atrial septal defect (ASD). Methods The sizes, shapes and sites of ASD were visualized by RT-3DE and measured by full volume rendered three-dimensional echocardiography (3DE) before operation and after closure operation in 11 ASD patients, and compared with those from two-dimensional echocardiography(2DE) and the operation. Results Before the operation,RT-3DE visualization showed that the secundum ASD′s sites of the 11 patients were central and shapes were mostly ellipse. In this study a significant difference was found in the measurements of long distances of ASD between 3DE and 2DE [( 28.9 ? 8.2 )mm vs ( 20.0 ? 7.3 )mm,P 0.05 ]. Maximal diameters of defects measured by 2DE[( 21.1 ? 3.5 )mm,P

Polyethersulfone hollow fiber membranes were prepared from polyethersulfone/N, N-Dimethylacctamide/poly (N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidinone) systems by dry/wet phase inversion process using water as coagulation bath. The effects of coagulation bath temperature and air gap distance on the surface structure, cross section structure and water flux of membranes were discussed. As increasing the temperature of coagulation bath and the air gap distance, the size of the pores at the surface effectively increased, while the finger-like structure under the outer surface changed to a sponge-like structure.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of different delivery modes on immunoprophylaxis efficacy so as to clarify whether or not cesarean section reduces immunoprophylaxis failure.
METHODSMothers with positive hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) were selected in the third trimester of pregnancy. Their babies were inoculated with hepatitis B immunoglobulin at birth and hepatitis B vaccine at 1, 2 and 7 months of age. HBsAg and its antibodies (anti-HBs) were tested at 1, 4, 7, and 12 months of age, then followed up yearly.
RESULTSA total of 301 babies entered the study, including 144 born by normal spontaneous vaginal delivery, 40 by obstetric forceps or vacuum extraction, and 117 by cesarean section. The incidence of mother's HBeAg positivity or baby's gender constitution was comparable between the three groups. There were no significant differences in the positive rate of anti-HBs or HBsAg at follow-up periods among the three groups. At 12 months of age, anti-HBs could be detected in 78.9% of the babies born by normal vaginal delivery, 84.6% of the babies by forceps or vacuum extraction, and 86.4% of the babies by cesarean section. The positive rate of HBsAg was 8.1%, 7.7%, 9.7%, and chronic HBV infection incidence was 7.3%, 7.7%, 6.8% respectively.
CONCLUSIONSThere are no significant effects of delivery mode on the interruption of HBV maternal-baby transmission by immunoprophylaxis. Cesarean section does not reduce the incidence of immunoprophylaxis failure.

Objective To assess the value of multi-slice spiral CT in the diagnosis of hepatic venous outflow obstruction (HVO) after liver transplantation. Methods Five patients with HVO were confirmed with digital subtraction angiography and epigastric tri-phase contrast-enhanced CT scans within 4-102 days after liver transplantation, and the CT dynamic enhancement features were retrospectively evaluated. Results Among 5 patients, 2 had middle hepatic vein obstruction, 1 had left hepatic vein obstruction, 1 had right hepatic vein obstruction, and 1 had middle hepatic vein and inferior caval vein obstruction. Contrast-enhanced CT showed typical liver congestion in all 5 patients. The liver parenchyma drained by obstructed hepatic vein was low-density on CT plain scans (1 patient showed mix-density caused by liver parenchyma hemorrhage), while no enhancement on artery phase, moderate enhancement on venous phase and high enhancement on delay phase were observed. During the venous phase, peripheral portal branches were invariably enhanced in the congested area of liver parenchyma. During the delay phase, opacification of the obstructed hepatic vein could be seen. After all patients had treated with interventional therapy, their clinical symptoms were improved, and 2 patients received contrast-enhanced CT scans after interventional therapy, which showed liver congestion relieved and obstructed hepatic vein opacificated well in venous phase. Conclusion Multi-slice spiral dynamic enhancement CT scans can accurately display the location of HVO and the extent of liver congestion.

Objective To explore the inhibitory effect of tetramethylpyrazine (TMP) on ultraviolet A-induced senescence as well as matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and-3 (MMP-3) mRNA expressions in human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs).Methods HDFs were isolated from the prepuce by enzymatic digestion, and subjected to primary culture.Cultured HDFs were randomly divided into several groups: control group cultured in high-glucose DMEM medium and receiving no treatment, three TMP groups treated with 20, 50 and 100 mg/L TMP respectively, UVA group receiving UVA radiation alone, UVA + TMP groups pretreated with 20, 50 and 100 mg/L TMP respectively for different durations followed by UVA radiation.UVA radiation was given once daily for 5 consecutive days. The 55th passage HDFs served as the P55 group (senescence control group).Subsequently, CCK-8 assay was performed to evaluate the proliferative activity of HDFs in vitro, optical microscopy to observe the morphologic changes of HDFs after UVA radiation, β-galactosidase staining to estimate the senescence in HDFs, and real-time fluorescence-based quantitative PCR to quantify the mRNA expressions of MMP-1 and MMP-3 in HDFs.Statistical analysis was carried out by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by least significant difference (LSD)-t test or Dunnett's T3 test. Results Compared with the control group, the proliferation of HDFs was significantly but transiently inhibited in vitro after the treatment with 100 mg/L TMP for 48 hours (P < 0.05), but showed no significant changes after the treatment with 20 or 50 mg/L TMP for 24, 48 or 72 hours or after the treatment with 100 mg/L TMP for 24 or 72 hours (all P < 0.05).The pretreatments with TMP of 20, 50 and 100 mg/L for 24, 48 and 72 hours all promoted the proliferation of HDFs to a certain degree in the UVA + TMP groups compared with the UVA group, with significant differences in cellular proliferative activity among the UVA group, UVA + TMP groups and control group at 24, 48 and 72 hours (F =17.451,15.231, 23.535, all P < 0.01).Compared with the UVA group, the proliferative activity of HDFs was significantly increased in UVA + 100-mg/L TMP group at 24, 48, 72 hours, UVA + 50-mg/L TMP group at 24 and 72 hours and UVA + 20-mg/L TMP group at 72 hours. After repetitive UVA radiation, HDFs in the UVA group experienced an increase in cell volume, granule acount, and β-galactosidase expression, which was similar to the changes in the P55 group, while the pretreatments with 20, 50 and 100 mg/L TMP for 24 hours suppressed these UVA-induced changes in HDFs.The percentage of β-galactosidase-positive HDFs was 68.417% ± 1.181% in the UVA group, 58.167% ± 5.620% in the UVA + 20-mg/L TMP group, 45.167% ± 5.502% in the UVA + 50-mg/L TMP group, 43.000% ± 2.000% in the UVA + 100-mg/L TMP group, 33.667% ± 5.865% in the control group, and 76.000% ± 6.557% in the P55 group, with significant differences among these groups (F =45.918, P < 0.01).Furthermore, the UVA group significantly differed from the UVA + TMP groups and control group in the percentage of β-galactosidase-positive HDFs and mRNA expressions of MMP-1 and MMP-3 (all P < 0.05).Conclusion TMP can protect HDFs against senescence induced by repetitive UVA radiation, and down-regulate the mRNA expressions of MMP-1 and MMP-3 during senescence.
