Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a ubiquitous respiratory virus that affects individuals of all ages; however, there is a notable lack of targeted treatments. RSV infection is associated with a range of respiratory symptoms, including bronchiolitis and pneumonia. Baicalin (BA) exhibits significant therapeutic effects against RSV infection through mechanisms of viral inhibition and anti-inflammatory action. Nonetheless, the clinical application of BA is constrained by its low solubility and bioavailability. In this study, we prepared BA nanodrugs (BA NDs) with enhanced water solubility utilizing the supramolecular self-assembled strategy, and we further conducted a comparative analysis of this pharmacological activity between free drugs and NDs of BA. Both in vitro and in vivo results demonstrated that BA NDs significantly enhanced the dual effects of viral inhibition and inflammation relief compared to free BA, attributed to prolonged lung retention, improved cellular uptake, and increased targeting affinity. Our study confirms that the nanosizing strategy, a straightforward approach to enhance drug solubility, can also increase biological activity compared to free drugs with the same content, thereby providing a potential ND for RSV treatment. This correlation analysis between the existing forms of drugs and their biological activity offers a novel perspective for research on the active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine.

Ear and upper airway are portal organs of human body. Because of their fine and narrow structure, the non-invasive research and the effect of clinical diagnosis and treatment in traditional medicine are always unsatisfactory. With the development of computer technology, numerical simulation has become an effective means of auxiliary research. Numerical simulation can reproduce or evaluate the diagnosis and treatment of ear and upper airway diseases, and it is a powerful means to promote the development of basic medicine and technology of clinical diagnosis and treatment. The application of numerical simulation in relationship between the structure and function of ear and upper airway, the influence of diseases on function, the evaluation of clinical diagnosis and treatment technology, as well as the design of related medical devices were reviewed. The clinical application of numerical research in ear and upper airway was prospected, so as to provide references for the future clinical diagnosis and treatment of ear and upper airway.

Clinical data of 113 patients with non-alcoholic fat liver disease (NAFLD) diagnosed by liver biopsy from January 2015 to January 2017 in Taizhou People's Hospital were retrospectively reviewed . Patients all underwent transient elastographic ( TE) examination and the values of fat attenuation index (FAI) were obtained. The hepatocyt fatty changes in pathological examination were scored as 0 (<5%, n=40), 1 (5%-33%,n =27), 2 (34% -66%,n =28) and 3 (>66%, n =18).There were significant differences in AST , Glu, TC and FAI among patients with hepatocyte fatty change scores 0, 1, 2 and 3, and the FAI was significantly correlated with the degree of fatty liver disease .The areas under the ROC curve (AUCs) of FAI in patients with hepatocyte fatty change scores 1, 2 and 3 were 0.78, 0.90 and 0.96, respectively.Logistic regression analysis showed that FAI was correlated with TG , TC and BMI.The results suggest that FAI in TE can be a non-invasive, rapid and objective evaluation method for patients with NAFLD.

[ABSTRACT]OBJECTIVETo study the deposition of suspended particles in the respiratory tract during human breathing.METHODSBased on CT data, three dimensional finite element model of an anatomically accurate respiratory tract, including the nasal cavity, oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea and parts of tracheobronchial tree, is established. Numerical analysis for the deposition of suspended particles in the respiratory tract was conducted. RESULTSThe velocity and pressure distributions of airflow in the respiratory tract were obtained, as well as the particles path and their deposition law.CONCLUSION Respiratory tract plays an important role in filtering suspended particles in the air during breathing. The main deposition sites of the particles were at the front of the inferior turbinate and the posterior pharyngeal wall.

Objective To study the effect of low frequency electrical stimulation on blood hormone levels in differ -ent animals. Methods At 12 h, 24 h and 36 h after low frequency electrical stimulation to Chinese tree shrews , Wistar rats, and BALB/c mice, respectively, the blood noradrenaline (NA) and endothelin (ET) levels were determined by ra-dioimmunoassay ( RIA) .Results The blood NA and ET levels of electrical stimulation group were significantly higher than that in the control group (P <0.01).At 24 h after reserpine treatment, the same electrical stimulation was given. The NA, ET levels were significantly decreased compared with that in the electrical stimulation group (P<0.05 to 0.01). Different animals responded to the same electric stimulus differently , following the order of Chinese tree shrews >Wistar rats >BALB/c mice. Conclusions Low frequency electrical stimulation can promote the release of noradrenaline and en -dothelin in Chinese tree shrews , Wistar rats and BALB/c mice.Reserpine can reduce the stress induced by low frequency electric stimulation to the body .
