1.Advance in the pulmonary vasculitis in children
Chinese Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2014;29(15):1127-1131
Vasculitis is divided into large,medium-sized,small vasculitis based on the size of the affect vessel.Pulmonary vasculitis may affect any vessel of the lung.It was pulmonary capillaritis if capillary vessels were involved. The common pulmonary vasculitis were granulomatosis polyangiitis, microscopic polyangiitis, allergic granulomatosis angitis, the less common pulmonary vasculitis were Schonlein-Henoch purpura,Takayasu'arteritis,Giant-cell arteritis, cryglobulinemia, polyarteritis nodosa, and Bechet'disease. The clinical features of the pulmonary vasculitis were alveolar hemorrhage, hemoptysis, anemia and pulmonary infiltration, other clinical manifestation were cough, fever, weight loss. The diagnosis of the pulmonary vasculitis was based on the clinical symptoms, signs and positive anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies or lung biopsy.Large vasculitis was diagnosised by the magnetic resonance imaging and colour Doppler ultrasonography. The glucocorticoid and immunosuppressant was used in the treatment of the vasculitis.
2.COMPARISON OF RADIOIMMUNOASSAY (RIA) WITH ENZYMEIMMUNOASSAY (EIA) FOR MEASURING SERUM FERRITIN
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(02):-
Serum ferritin was recognized as a sensitive and reliable index for assessing body iron storage level. RIA and EIA for testing serum ferritin are now available. The aim of this study was to show the sensitivity and precision of RIA and EIA for testing serum ferritin and the relationship between the two assays. The result revealed that the two methods had sensitive-ties of 1 ng/ml and the CV% varied between 3.62 and 24.08 when the ferritin was assayed ten times on the same serum sample. The precision of two assays was similar, when RIA was compared with EIA on 35 serum ferritin determinations and the following linear regression equation was obtained:RIA = 0.82?EIA + 11.8, r = 0.98, n = 35The resulst of serum ferritin assayed with EIA were higher than that with RIA in general. It was considered that the EIA could offer a reliable alternative for the laboratories in which people do not prefer RIA for testing.

Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 2000;0(06):-
The vitamin B 12 Productivity of 14 marine bacterial strains isolated from the China Sea was determined microbiologically using Escherichia coli 113 3. Tests were made on the culturing media and culture conditions for Vitamin B 12 production. The results showed that the culturing medium in which the extract from soybean cake with seawater and some nutriments were added was suitable to recognize further some marine Vitamin B 12 producing bacterial strains. The medium with appropriate cobalt chloride and some salts added may be useful for Vitamin B 12 biosynthesis. The PH value of the fermentation for the testing strains was raised with the lapse of time for fermentation. A better Vitamin B 12 production may be obtained by keeping the fermentation liquid slightly basic till about 96h. No.2627 strain in all the strains tested showed well in the productivity. The mixed cultivation of some strains (including No.2627 strain) tested often has potentiality and superiority for Vitamin B 12 production.

BACKGROUND:The spinal column is the most common site of cancer metastases. Most of the previous biomechanical experiments utilized models with defects only in the vertebral body or posterior elements, but the biomechanical changes of the thoracic vertebrae and posterior part with various locations of metastasis deserve further research. OBJECTIVE:To set up the three-dimensional (3D) finite element model to investigate biomechanical effects by simulating combined destruction of vertebral body and other posterior components. METHODS:Based on CT data, we constructed the 3D geometric models of the thoracic vertebrae (T9-11), including intervertebral discs, ligaments and ribs using the Mimics software. The 3D models of T9 vertebra and different parts of the posterior thoracic vertebrae related with the metastasis could be simulated, including the control group with the intact vertebrae, the group of the T10 vertebrae with the right defective hemi-vertebrae, the group of the defective hemi-vertebrae with the defective ipsilateral pedicle, the group of the defective hemi-vertebrae with the defective ipsilateral costovertebral joint, the group of the defective hemi-vertebrae with the defective ipsilateral pedicle and costovertebral joint, the group of the defective hemi-vertebrae with the defective ipsilateral pedicle, costovertebral joint and transverse process. The corresponding 3D finite element models were established using the Abaqus software. The displacement and Von Mises stress distribution of the models were analyzed when the anterior compressive flexure load was applied. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:When the anterior compressive flexure load was applied, the entire stiffness was proportionaly decreased when the more posterior parts destroyed, especialy destruction of vertebral body and pedicle significantly decreased. The destruction of posterior structures such as the thoracic rib joints and transverse processes was not great. However, the maximal Von Mises stress increased significantly when the vertebral body and pedicle were destructed, but additional costovertebral joint destruction slightly decreased the maximal Von Mises stress because of the stress was re-distributed.
