Objective To compare and analyze the differences of blood lipid levels and self-consciousness level between children with moderate to severe obesity and normal children. Methods The subjects were the pupils of Grade 6 from 3 primary schools in Shangqiu city between December 2002 and March 2003. Totally 912 students participated in the measurement of body height and body mass, and 56 of them accorded with the diagnostic standard of obesity for children, 26 children with moderate to severe obesity were taken as the observational group. Another 26 healthy children (control group) of the same grade with normal body height and body mass took part in the study voluntarily. In both groups, blood lipids were detected and Piers-Harris children′s self-concept scale (PHCSS) was given by professional clinicians and professional psychological physicians respectively. Objective To investigate the clinical outcomes of flupenthixol melitracen on refractory asthma with anxiety and/or depression.Methods 105 patients with refractory asthma,who were given asthma controlled test (ACT) and comprehensive hospital anxiety and depression scale (HAD)test,were randomly classified into control group and treatment group,the former used recommended classical drugs in the consensus,Salmeterol Xinafoate and Fluticasone Propionate and Montelukast;while the latter used above therapy combining flupentixol melitrace.HAD score,ACT score and pulmonary function were applied to assess therapeutic effect.Results In 105 cases of refractory asthma patients,75 patients were complicated with anxiety and/or depression,with prevalence of 71.42％.With the alleviation of anxiety and/or depression,the degree of asthma controlled was improved.After treatment,HAD score of the treatment group was lower that of control group((10.67±2.32) scores vs (11.94±3.02) scores,t=2.06,P＜0.05),ACT score in treatment group was much higher than that of control group((14.54± 3.14) scores vs (11.25±3.06)scores,t=4.59,P＜0.01),there were statistical significance in FEV1％ pre between two groups ((55.29±5.72) vs (43.36±7.13),t=8.02,P＜0.01).Conclusion Antidepressant treatment can alleviate anxiety and/or depression,improve the clinical curative effect of refractory asthma and help to improve lung function.

Objective The interleukin-1β (IL-13) expression in serum of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients was evaluated. To explore the significance of IL-1β in leukostasis and tissue infiltration by leukemic cells. Methods ELISA was used to investigate the contents of IL-1β in serum of 83 newly diagnosed with AML which contains 16 hyperleukocytic AML patients, and compared the IL-1β level between the hyperleukocytic AML group and non-hyperleukocytic AML group, the infiltrated group and non-infiltrated group. Results The content of IL-1β in AML serum [(88.23±36.30) pg/ml] was higher than that of in the control group[(29.56±15.53) pg/ml], with significant difference (P ＜0.01). There was a higher level for IL-1β in hyperleukocytic AML group[(136.67±65.68) pg/ml] than in non-hyperleukocytic AML group [(69.85±48.35) pg/ml],and there was a significant difference. IL-13 and peripheral blood cells were in linear correlation (r=0.74, P ＜0.01). There was a higher level for IL-1β in infiltrated group[(111.31 ±57.35) pg/ml] than in the other group [(79.68±43.42) pg/ml], and there was a significant difference. Conclusion The IL-1β may play an important role in leukostasis and tissue infiltration by leukemic cells in AML.

ObjectiveTo investigate the plasma endothelin(ET),angiotensin (Ang) Ⅱ levels on middle cerebral artery resistance in hypertension patients.MethodsThe plasma ET and Ang Ⅱ levels were determined in hypertension grade 1 (grade 1 group,40 cases),grade 2 (grade 2 group,40 cases ),grade 3(grade 3 group,40 cases) and healthy adults (control group,50 cases).The systolic velocity and pulsatility index of middle cerebral artery were determined by transcranial Doppler,and 24 h ambulatory blood pressure was monitored.ResultsThe pulsatility index in grade 2 group and grade 3 group was higher than that in control group and grade 1 group (1.23 ±0.22,1.31 ±0.21 vs.0.76 ±0.18,0.78 +0.13)(P＜0.05).The systolic velocity in grade 2 group was higher than that in control group,grade 1 group and grade 3 group [(87.8 ± 11.7) cm/s vs.(60.8 ± 10.6),(63.8 ± 11.8),(49.9 ± 10.8) cm/s](P ＜ 0.05),and in grade 3 group was lower than that in control group,grade 1 group and grade 2 group(P ＜ 0.05 ).The plasma ET,Ang Ⅱ in grade 1,2,3 group was higher than that in control group[(46.83 ± 8.83 ),(55.63 ± 10.28 ),(67.19 ± 10.73)ng/L vs.( 38.94 ± 7.83 ) ng/L and ( 50.23 ± 9.23 ),(64.34 ± 12.23 ),( 79.83 ± 13.43 ) ng/L vs.(41.63 ± 8.76 )ng/L] (P ＜0.05).A increasing trend in the plasma ET and Ang Ⅱ was present with increasing the hypertension grade(P ＜ 0.05 ).The night average systolic pressure,night average diastolic pressure and plasma ET,Ang Ⅱ levels in dipper hypertension patients (60 cases) were lower than those in non-dipper hypertension patients(60 cases) [(121.83 ± 11.83) mm Hg(1 mm Hg =0.133 kPa) vs.(138.84 ± 13.29)mm Hg,(77.23 ± 8.54) mm Hg vs.(86.93 ± 10.34) mm Hg,(48.83 ± 10.14) ng/L vs.(59.83 ± 11.29)ng/L,(55.84 ± 10.83 ) ng/L vs.(72.83 ± 20.29) ng/L,P ＜ 0.05].ConclusionMonitoring plasma ET,Ang Ⅱ levels and ambulatory blood pressure in hypertension patients is helpful in using medicine to improve endothelial function and to promote its dynamic type into a dipper blood pressure in the treatment of patients,thereby to reduce the incidence of hypertension adverse events.

Objective To observe the effects of tetramethyipyrazine(TMP) on retina to find out whether it can protect retina from glaucomatous damage. Methods Twenty-four rabbits were randomly divided into four groups. One eye of each rabbit was model eye induced by 2％ methylcellulous, and the other was control eye. Normal saline, TMP, timolol and a combination of timolol and TMP were administrated to group A, B, C and D respectively. At the end of 4th week, eyes were excavated for light and electron microscopic study. Results The numbers of ganglion cells (P ＜0. 01) and bipolar cells (P ＜0. 01) in model eye were different significantly between group A and B. In group A, the model eye ganglion cells were karyopyknosis, chromatin margination and nuclear membrane rupture; some in ner nuclear cells dcveloped marked lytic changes; outer segment appeared disorganized; but group B changed slight ly. Conclusion The results suggest that TMP may protect retina from glaucomatous damage.

Objective To investigate the different components of Acorus tatarinowii and Polygala tenuifolia(volatile oil, aqueous extract)on the expression of phosphorylated Tau protein at site Ser396 and Tau-5 in the hippocampus of rats with Alzheimer′s disease(AD). Methods Male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into 8 groups:normal control group, model control group,low-,middle-,and high-dose groups of volatile oil of Acorus tatarinowii and Polygala tenuifolia,and low-, middle-,and high-dose groups of aqueous extract of Acorus tatarinowii and Polygala tenuifolia. The subacute aging model was established by intraperitoneal injection of D-galactose( D-gal). Rats were given different components of Acorus tatarinowii and Polygala tenuifolia(crude drug dosage,0.6,1.2,1.8 g·kg-1 )in experimental groups,and 0.9% sodium chloride solution in normal control group and model control group,by gavage for 28 days.The levels of phosphorylated Tau protein at site Ser396 and Tau-5 were detected in hippocampal tissues by Western blotting and immunohistochemistry. Results The levels of phosphorylated Tau protein at site Ser396 were significantly enhanced in the model control group,as compared with those in normal control group (P<0.01).The relative expression levels of Tau protein Ser396 were 3.83±0.10,3.35±0.01,3.11±0.01,2.75±0.03,2.93±0.01,2.55± 0.07,and 2.23±0.08 in model control group,low-,middle-,and high-dose groups of volatile oil of Acorus tatarinowii and Polygala tenuifolia,and low-,middle-,high-dose groups of aqueous extract of Acorus tatarinowii and Polygala tenuifolia,respectively.Two components of Acorus tatarinowii and Polygala tenuifolia could dephosphorylate Tau protein Ser396 to vary degrees in a dose-dependent manner.The aqueous extract component was slightly better than the volatile oil component,especially in the high-dose group(P<0.01).But Tau-5 did not change significantly after treatment with Acorus tatarinowii and Polygala tenuifolia(P>0.05). Conclusion Acorus tatarinowii and Polygala tenuifolia could promote the dephosphorylation of Ser396 site of Tau protein in the hippocampus of AD rats,with the aqueous extract component having better effects.

ObjectiveTo detect IL-17 level of bone marrow in patients with multiple myeloma bone disease,and to investigate its clinical significance.MethodsThe bone marrow IL-17 levels were quantified in 33 cases of multiple myeloma patients and 20 normal control by ELISA assay. RANKL mRNA expression were detected by using RT-PCR.ResultsIn bone marrow supernatant,IL-17 was detected in both groups,and RANKL mRNA were detected in both groups too. IL-17 and RANKL mRNA levels in bone marrow of patients with MM were significantly higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05). The bone marrow concentrations of IL-17 and bone marrow mononuclear cells' RANKL mRNA expression in active stage were significantly higher than those in stable stage (P＜0.05).The bone marrow IL-17 and RANKL were significantly correlated (r =690,P＜0.05).ConclusionIL-17 may play an important role in the pathogenesis of MM.
