1.GC-MS Analysis of Chemical Compositions of Essential Oils of Eupatorium fortunei Extracted by CO_2-Supercritical-Fluid-Extraction or Steam Distillation Extraction

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the chemical compositions of the essential oils of Eupatorium fortunei extracted by CO2-supercritical-fluid-extraction(SFE-CO2) vs.steam distillation extraction(SD).METHODS: The essential oils of the E.fortunei were extracted by SD vs.SFE-CO2.The chemical components were separated and analyzed by GC-MS.RESULTS: 31 compounds were identified in the essential oils of E.fortunei extracted by SFE-CO2,accounting for 75.97% of the peak area of the total ion-current chromatogram,with 2-propenoic acid-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-ethyl ester showing the highest proportion(40.50%).21 compounds were identified in the essential oils of E.fortunei extracted by SD,accounting for 51.70% of the peak area of the total ion-current chromatogram,with caryophyllene showing the highest proportion(10.35%).13 components were mutual in both extraction methods.The contents of the components varied greatly.CONCLUSION: SFE-CO2 is more stable and reliable and reproducible than SD,and it is more applicable for the extraction of the essential oils from Chinese herbal medicine.
2.Clinical Observation of Compound Sabal Berry Tablet Combined with Tamsulosin in the Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Complicated with Urinary Obstruction

OBJECTIVE:To observe the efficacy and safety of Compound sabal berry tablet combined with tamsulosin in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia complicated with urinary obstruction. METHODS:86 patients with benign prostatic hyper-plasia complicated with urinary obstruction were randomly divided into control group(43 cases)and observation group(43 cases). Control group orally received 0.2 mg Tamsulosin hydrochloride orally disintegrating sustained-release tablet,once every evening. Observation group additionally received 500 mg Compound sabal berry tablet before a meal,3 times a day. 4-week was regarded as 1 treatment course,and it lasted 3 courses. During the treatment,all patients in the two groups ate light food,avoiding spicy and bland food. The clinical efficacy,TCM symptom scores,interleukin-8 (IL-8),interleukin-10 (IL-10),tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α),maximum flow rate(Qmax),post-void residual(PVR),the International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS)scores before and after treatment and the incidence of adverse reactions in the 2 groups were observed. RESULTS:The total effective rate in ob-servation group was significantly higher than control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there were no significant differences in the TCM symptom scores,Qmax,PVR,IPSS scores,IL-8,IL-10 and TNF-α between 2 groups (P>0.05). After treatment,TCM symptom scores,IPSS scores,IL-8,IL-10,TNF-α and PVR in 2 groups were signifi-cantly lower than before,and observation group was lower than control group,Qmax was significantly higher than before,and obser-vation group was higher than control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). And there were no severe ad-verse reactions during treatment. CONCLUSIONS:The efficacy of Compound sabal berry tablet combined with tamsulosin is superi-or to tamsulosin alone in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia complicated with urinary obstruction,it can reduce the in-flammatory reactions and residual urine,with good safety.
3.Effect of bilirubin on the anti-oxidative stress ability of red cell membrane in rats undergoing high intensity training

AIM:To observe the effect of supplementing bilirubin on the anti-oxidative stress ability of red cell membrane in training rats through establishing animal models of high-intensity training. METHODS:The experiment was performed in the physiological laboratory of Physical Institute of Jiangxi Normal University from December 2004 to January 2005.①After one week of adaptive feeding,24 male SD rats were randomly divided into quiet control group,high intensity sports training and physiological saline group(training group),high intensity sports training and bilirubin group(training and supplementing group)with 8 animals in each group.②The training group and the training and supplementing group did the running on the platform with the slope of 0?at the first three weeks and 5?at the fourth week,6 days every week expect Sunday.The training and supplementing group was intragastrically infused with bilirubin by 40mg/kg body mass at 17:00-18:00 after training every day,and the other groups were given physiological saline,six times every week.Anticoagulatory blood about 2mL of heparin was harvested to prepare red cell membrane sample and measure the relevant indexes on the 4~(th)Sunday.③The serum total bilirubin level was determined using automatic biochemical analysis instrument;the malondialdehyde(MDA)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)of red cell membrane by TBA;the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD)of red cell membrane using the method of Xanthine oxidase.All the treatment for animals was based on the ethical standards. 4.Relationship of methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase gene polymorphism and homocysteine with coronary heart disease in females

Objective To explore the relationship between methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene polymorphism and homocysteine (Hcy),and further to investigate their correlation to coronary heart disease (CHD) in females.Methods This study involved 29 premenopausal women with CHD,57 postmenopausal women with CHD,50 men with CHD and 46 postmenopausal women with non-CHD.All patients underwent coronary angiography.The patients' gender,age,history of hypertension,diabetes and smoking were recorded.The plasma Hcy level,blood lipids and MTHFR gene polymorphism were examined.Results The level of Hcy in postmenopausal women with CHD was (18.11±7.21)μmol/L,which was significantly higher than (15.01±6.53)μmol/L in premenopausal women with CHD,(12.98±5.46)μmol/L in postmenopausal women with non-CHD group and (14.32±6.01)μmol/L in men with CHD group (t=5.23,3.65,5.08,all P<0.05).The frequency of the MTHFR TT genotype in postmenopausal women with CHD was 28.1% which was significantly higher than postmenopausal women with non-CHD(17.4%)(χ2=5.13,P<0.05),but there was no statistically significant difference with the other two groups.The plasma Hcy level in patients with TT genotype was significantly higher than that with CT or CC genotype in all groups.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed a significant positive correlation in Hcy and TT genotype.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that smoking,Hcy,hypertension and diabetes were independent risk factors for CHD.The odds ratios(OR) of Hcy for CHD was 2.601 (95% confidence interval,1.326 to 5.745).Conclusion Hcy may be an independent risk factor for CHD in females.MTHFR C677T genotype is significantly associated with hyperhomocysteinemia,and its mutation frequency increases significantly in patients with CHD,but MTHFR mutation is not related with the incidence of CHD.
5.The influence of etiquette training on self efficacy and self confidence in nursing college students

Objective To explore the influence of etiquette training on self efficacy and self confidence in nursing freshmen.Methods 183 nursing freshmen were given 36 class hours of etiquette training from Nursing College of Taishan Medical University.They took general self-efficacy scale (GSES),academic self-efficacy scale (ASES) and self-esteem scale(SES) tests respectively before and after the training.Results Compared with before training((2.32±0.22),(58.34±5.68),respectively),the scores of general self-efficacy and academic self-efficacy ((2.48±0.24),(66.32±6.35),respectively) were significantly increased (P< 0.01).The scores of self confidence increased significantly after etiquette training ((27.45 ± 2.32),(26.15 ± 2.26),(P < 0.01)).Conclusion The etiquette training can improve the self-efficacy and self confidence of nursing college freshmen.

As a new surface technology, microarc oxidation can be applied to the ceramic coating with bioactivity on Ti alloy. With good biocompatibility, high bond strength and short healing period, the film is worth applying to clinical operation. In this paper such information of microarc oxidation is reviewed as its developing history, research progress and basic principle. The structure, properties and bioactivity of the ceramic coating are also introduced.

9.Clinical Application of Novel Colloidal Gold Immunochromatographic Test Strip for Group B Streptococci

Objective To explore the effect of a novel colloidal gold immunochromatographic test strip for detection of group B streptococci (GBS).Methods A total of 202 cases of swab of vagina or neck of uterus were collected,and they were detec-ted by novel strip and control strip to evaluate their clinical applications.Results Sensitivity of novel strip was about 105 CFU/ml and the detection time was about 5 to 8 minutes,and it showed better sensitivity and shorter detection time com-pared with control strip.In the 202 cases of clinical samples,the detection results of 197 cases were in consistent with the control strip,however,the detection results of 5 cases were not in consistent.The positive coincidence rate and negative coin-cidence rate were 97.5% and 97.54% respectively,and the total coincidence rate and Kappa value were 97.52% and 0.948 respectively.The consistency test showed no significant difference between this strip and control strip.Conclusion This method was a effective technology for diagnosing of infection caused by GBS,and had high value in clinical application.
10.Diagnostic and therapeutic value of color Doppler flow imaging to elderly femoral arterial pseudo aneurysms

Objective To evaluate the value of color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) in the diagnosis of elderly femoral arterial pseudo aneurysm and treating with ultrasound-guided compression after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). Methods Twenty-six elderly patients who were found a mass and/or vascular murmur in the puncture region were examined by CDFI, and the results of CDFI were proven by clinic and MRI. All pseudo aneurysms were repaired by CDFI guidance to compress simply and/or injecting directly batroxobin into the pseudo aneurysm lumen combined with compression.Results Pseudo aneurysms were diagnosed definitely by CDFI in 26 cases,and the accuracy rate was 100%. Twenty-two cases were repaired with CDFI guidance to compress simply and percutaneously injection of batroxobin into the pseudo aneurysm lumen combined with compression occurred in 3 cases. One case was cured by surgery after failing to be repaired with CDFI guidance. Conclusions CDFI has an important diagnosis value of pseudo aneurysm after PTCA. The method of CDFI guidance compression and batroxobin injection for repairing pseudo aneurysm is simple, safe and effective.
