Objective: To explore the eye-movement characters and the visual cognitive processing traits of Chinese children with reading disorder (RD) during apperceiving pictures. Methods: 14 children with reading disorder and 14 normal controls were collected. Their eye-movements during apperceiving pictures were recorded with Eye-link II High-Speed Tracker. Results:The only significant difference between the two groups existed in the score of average saccade amplitude for picture 3 (RD children scored less 3.79?0.69/ 4.86?1.67,t=-2.29,P0.05).Conclusions:The remember and process capability to the pictures are not the main characters of the Chinese RD children. If the background of picture is complicated, the attention span of children suffered RD will be more limited, and their fixation efficiency will be depressed.

Objective To visualize the pelvic floor structures by translabial three‐dimensional(3D) ultrasonography performed during labor and immediately after delivery, and to observe the morphological changes of levator hiatus in intrapartum women. Methods Totally 62 nulliparous women with singleton pregnancy and cephalic presentation in labor ward underwent intrapartum translabial 3D ultrasound examination before cervical dilatation, at 10 cm dilatation and immediately after delivery. Volume datasets were obtained at rest, biometric measurements and observation of the morphological changes of levator hiatus in different stages were determined in the axial plane. Comparative analyses of parameters in three stages were carried out. Results Translabial 3D ultrasound demonstrated the pelvic floor structures of intrapartum women well. All biometric measurements of the hiatus before cervical dilatation were the smallest and became the largest at 10 cm dilatation, showed statistically significant differences. The measurements after delivery got smaller immediately but still significantly larger than those before cervical dilatation ( P <0 0.01). Conclusions Translabial 3D ultrasound examination of the pelvic floor during labor and within the first 2h after delivery is feasible. It seems to be an effective tool to visualize pelvic floor structures in intrapartum women. Hiatal enlargement may be a common consequence of vaginal childbirth.

BACKGROUND: Attachment reflects the early social experience of infant, which plays an important role in later child development. Although most of the attachment develops between infant and mother, some may occur between infant and care giver or others who have close relationship with it.OBJECTIVE: To analyze the infant-mother attachment patterns and the factors related to infant attachment.DESIGN: It was a sampling investigation.SETTING: Department of Maternal and Child Health, School of Public Health, Sun Yat-sen University.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 75 infants and their mother were selected randomly for this study in the Department of Child Health in Guangdong Maternal and Child Health Hospital from August to October 2002.METHODS: Strange situation test (SST) was performed by 6 researchers who were trained systematically. They watched the videos collectively and classified the patterns of infant attschment based on their performance. The internal consistency coefficient was 0.90. For those inconsistent assessments, the video should be reviewed and discussed to get an accordant conclusion. In addition, a self-designed maternal questionnaire was used to investigate the general condition of the infant and the familial information.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ①Distribution of infant attachment patterns. ②Analysis of the risk factors related to infant attachment.RESULTS: All the 75 infants and their mother entered the statistical analysis. ①Distribution of the infant attachment patterns: In 75 infants, secure attachment was 65% and insecure attachment was 35%, among which,insecure-indifferent type was 18%, insecure-importunate type was 13%,and insecure-disorganized type was 4%. ②Analysis of the risk factors related to infant attachment Those infants with a younger age, a poor approachability (the response to strangers, new environment and objects), a closer relationship with caregiver and a more inconsistent education from the family members, are prone to develop insecure attachment.CONCLUSION: Secure attachment is dominant in infants. The security of attachment is related to the maturity and personality traits of the infants, the relationship between infant and caregiver and the educational approach for them. Chinese Journal of School Health 2023;44(2):176-180
Objective:
To study the relationship between motor coordination, social communication impairment, and restricted/repetitive behaviors (RRBs) in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Methods:
A total of 123 ASD children aged 2-12 were recruited from rehabilitation service institutions for autistic children in Guangzhou, including 105 boys and 18 girls. The Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire, Social Communication Questionnaire, and Restrictive Behavior Scale Revised were collected to measure motor coordination, social communication skills and RRBs, respectively. Multiple linear regression was used to explore the association between motor coordination and core symptoms.
Results:
In children aged 2-5 years old, those without motor coordination deficits scored lower in social interaction (7.73±4.00) than others (9.76±2.90)( Z=-2.29, P <0.05). In children aged 6-12 years old, those without motor coordination deficits scored lower in restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior (4.22±1.93), repetitive sensory-motor behaviors (3.91±2.63), and insistence on sameness (13.52±10.59) than those with motor coordination deficits (6.11±1.54, 14.00±8.49, 31.33±15.05)( Z=-2.48, -3.83, -3.28, P <0.01)。Multiple linear regression analysis showed that fine motor/handwriting and control during movement were negatively correlated with the severity of social communication impairment and RRBs respectively among children aged 2-5 and 6-12( β=-0.85--0.03, -2.98--0.17, P <0.05).
Conclusion
Among autistic children, those with motor deficits suffered from more severe core symptoms. Motor assessment should be included in the ASD screening, diagnosis and management. Motor intervention should also be promoted in the rehabilitation in order to improve the prognosis and life quality.
