1.The Effect of Indirect Gentle Moxibustion on Serum IL-1 and TNF-? Contents in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis

Objective To investigate the effect of indirect gentle moxibustion on serum IL-1 and TNF-?contents in patients with knee osteoarthritis and explore the mechanism of its action. Method A randomized controlled trial was conducted according to the patient's condition. Besides acupuncture as basic treatment, the treatment group received indirect gentle moxibustion and the control group, thermotherapy plus cupping. Pre-treatment and post-treatment serum IL-1 and TNF-?contents and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) scores were analyzed in the patients and compared between the two groups. Result There were statistically significant pre-/post-treatment differences in serum IL-1 and TNF-? contents and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) score in the two groups (P<0.05). After treatment, serum IL-1 and TNF-?contents and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) score were lower in the treatment group than in the control group. Conclusion Indirect gentle moxibustion can effectively decrease serum IL-1 and TNF-?contents in patients with knee osteoarthritis. That provides a certain molecular cytobiological and bio tissue engineering basis for the mechanism of its action in reducing inflammatory stimulation.
2.Determination of Emodin in Compound Shouwu Mixture by RP - HPLC

OBJECTIVE:To establish a RP-HPLC method for the determination of the content of emodin in Compound shouwu mixture.METHODS:The determination was performed on Diamonsil C_(18) column(150 mm?4.6 mm,5?m) with the mobile phase consisted of methanol- 0.1%phosphoric acid(68:32).The detective wavelength was set at 220 nm.RESULTS: The linear range of emodin was 7.8~78.0?g?mL~(-1)(r= 0.999 8) with an average recovery rate of 98.25%(RSD = 1.09%,n=9).CONCLUSION:The method is accurate,sensitive and reproducible,and it is applicable for the quality control of the Compound shouwu mixture.
3.Observations on the Efficacy of Eye Acupuncture plus Linguistic Competence Training in Treating Post-stroke Aphasia

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of eye acupuncture plus linguistic competence training in treating post-stroke aphasia.Methods Sixty patients with post-stroke aphasia were randomly allocated to groups A, B and C, 20 cases each. Group A received eye acupuncture plus linguistic competence training; group B, eye acupuncture alone; group C, linguistic competence training alone. The linguistic competence scores, the aphasia quotient (AQ) score and the Chinese Functional Communication Profile (CFCP) score were recorded in the three groups before and after treatment. The clinical therapeutic effects were compared between the three groups.Results There were statistically significant pre-/post-treatment differences in the linguistic competence scores, the AQ score and the CFCP score in the three groups (P<0.01,P<0.05). There were statistically significant post-treatment differences in the linguistic competence (spontaneous speech, spoken language understanding and naming) scores, the AQ score and the CFCP score between groups A and C (P<0.05). The total efficacy rate was 95.0% in group A, 80.0% in group B and 85.0% in group C. There was a statistically significant difference in the total efficacy rate between group A and group B or C (P<0.05).Conclusion EYE acupuncture plus linguistic competence training is an effective way to treat post-stroke aphasia.
4.Preliminary study of MR imaging in rat with series coil

Objective To investigate the effect of MR imaging in rats with series coil. Methods MR scanning was performed on the self-made aqueous solution phantom with the series coil and other three coils respectively, using the same FRFSE- XL pulse sequence. SNR of the same image was obtained in the same position slice for all four coils. Twelve SD rats were divided into three model groups and one normal group. FRFSE-XL FSPGR and Probe-SI pulse sequence were respectively used to show the brain injury,1H-MRS, spinal cord injury (SCI) and abdomen with series coils. Results The SNR of series coil (39. 7)was over six times higher than the SNR of knee joint coil (6. 41 ), which was the best in other three coils.Grey matter and white matte; the brain structure and hematomas were clearly depicted in the rats'brain on T1WI and T2WI. From the second week after injection of 6-OHDA into the rats brain, the ratio of NAA/Cr decreased (before injection 1.24 ,two weeks after injection 0. 781 ). The spinal cord and the configuration of the white matter were clearly showed on T2WI image, and the location and degree of SCI in the rat thoracic spinal cord were also well defined on T2 WI image. The pulse sequence of FSPGR T1 WI was used for rat abdomen scanning. The scan time was only eight seconds. It is helpful to overcome the breathing movement effect and show the structure of rat abdomen. Conclusion It provided a good means for the rat MR in vivo to make use of 3.0T MR combined with series coils.

AIM: To explore the regulatory mechanism of nerve growth factor (NGF) on substance P in the experimental asthmatic guinea pig. METHODS: Radioimmunoassay was used to determine the alteration of substance P levels in the lower respiratory tract and visceral sensory afferent sites while NGF was absent (inhalation of NGF antibody through nasal cavity) in the asthmatic guinea pig. Aim To explore the inhibitory effect of dexamethasone on the expression of IL-1? in the lung and the visceral sensory afferent system(C_7-T_5 spinal ganglia and the corresponding posterior horn of the spinal cord) of asthmatic guinea pigs. AIM: To investigate the mechanism of AngRem104-mediated regulation of fibronectin gene in human mesangial cells. METHODS: A series of deleted FN promoter sequences was constructed, which fuse to a luciferase reporter gene, and then the potential active regions that respond to AngRem104 in the upstream regulatory sequence of human FN gene was screened by detecting the luciferase activity of promoter-reporter gene. RESULTS: The detection of relative luciferase activity revealed that there was no significant differences when the HMC were transfected with FN122-reporter gene together with sense AngRem104 construct, but the luciferase activity significantly increased when transfection of FN507-reporter gene construct together with sense AngRem104 construct. However, no increase in luciferase activity was observed when transfection of FN1280-reporter gene construct together with sense AngRem104 construct. The potential regulatory region responds to AngRem104 is in the upstream sequence (-122 to -507) of human FN gene. CONCLUSION: Our preliminary study provided the evidence that AngRem104 may mediate the transcription of the FN gene via the activation of its promoter.
9.Clinical observation on treatment of acute vertigo with Shexiang Baoxin Pills

AIM: To test and verify the effect of Shexiang Baoxin Pills(SXBXW) on treating acute vertigo. METHODS: Sixty patients with acute vertigo were randomly assigned to the treatment group(40 cases) and the control group(20 cases).The treatment group was given four pills of SXBXW by sublingually. The control group was drip-fed Betahistine Hydrochloride and Sodium Injection 250 mL. Both groups were drip-fed normal saline injection 250 mL plus Vitamine B_6 0.2g at the same time. RESULTS: After three hours of observation, both the drugs could significantly reduce the sympton of acute vertigo, and its therapeutic efficacies were similar. CONCLUSION: SXBXW has obvious therapeutic efficacy and less side effect.
10.The Value of Blood Supply by Splenic Artery to Hepatic Carcinoma in Interventional Embolization Therapy

Objective To suty DSA features of the splencin artery which provides blood supply to the tumor in the patients with hepatic carcinoma,to improve the clinical results of interventional therapy.Methods DSA was performed in 3 patients with hepatic carcinoma and the blood supply of tumors by splenic artery was found.The DSA features were analysed and the interventional embolization was carried out at the same time.Results After super-selective embolization of the splenic artery,obvious reduction of the tumor-feeding microvessels and marked shrinking of the lesion were observed in all cases.Conclusion Splenic artery as one of the supply arteria to the tumors in hepatic carcinoma is very important to familiarize that in transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for hepatic carcinoma.
