Journal of Practical Stomatology 2010;26(2):173-176
Objective:To study the residual stress distribution through the thickness of bilayered dental ceramic subjected to thermal stress, in order to improve the restoration. Methods: The finite element model of bilayered dental ceramic was set up based on International Organization for Standardization(ISO) 96936:1999. The residual stresses were calculated in viscoelastic and elastic phases during cooling of dental ceramic to analyze the residual stress distribution. Results: The deformation of core was greater than the veneer ceramics during the cooling period of dental ceramic. The residual stress increased with the decreasing of the temperature approaching the interface of core and veneer ceramics. But it decreased with the increasing of the thickness of veneer ceramics. Conclusion: Thermal compatibility of core and veneer ceramics is very important to the residual stress distribution in the bilayered dental ceramic, which may benefit to All-ceramic restorations. The viscoelastic behavior of ceramic should be taken into account in the thermal compatibility.

Objective:To investigate the effect of search for meaning on depression and the moderating role of perspective change in college students. Methods:The participants were 1 16 college students. The hypotheses were tested by analyzing data collected at 3 time points. Search for meaning and the presence of meaning in life were measured with the Meaning in Life Questionnaire, the dimension of perspective change in Meaning-Focused Coping Questionnaire was used to assess the ability to change perspective, and depression was assessed with the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). Results:The scores of perspective change was positively corre-lated with scores of meaning in life (r=0. 29 ,P<0. 0 1 ),and negatively correlated with CES-D scores (r=-0. 34,P<0. 001). The scores of perspective change moderated the relationship between scores of search for mean-ing and scores of presence of meaning in life (β=0. 22,P<0. 01 ),and this interaction effected CES-D scores through the mediation of scores of presence of meaning in life. That is,for the individuals with lower perspectivechange score (blow one standard),the score of search for meaning was negatively associated with the presence of meaning in life, with in turn increased CES-D scores,95%CI:0. 07 -033;among the individuals with higher per-spective change scores (above one standard),there was no mediation effect. Conclusion:The results suggest that perspective change could moderate the relationship between search for meaning and meaning in life, which in turn buffers depression. The findings imply the potential positive role of perspective change in the process of searching for meaning in life among university students.

OBJECTIVE To explore the effects of leonurine on growth arrest-specific protein-6 (GAS6)/Axl signaling pathway, and clarify its mechanism of alleviating myocardial injury in rats with coronary heart disease. METHODS The rat model of coronary heart disease was constructed; successfully modeled rats were randomly separated into model group, leonurine low- dose and high-dose groups (intragastric administration of leonurine 25, 100 mg/kg+intraperitoneal injection of normal saline 75 mg/kg), and leonurine high-dose+GAS6/Axl signaling pathway inhibitor group (intragastric administration of leonurine 100 mg/kg+ intraperitoneal injection of R428 75 mg/kg), with 12 rats in each group. Additional 12 normal rats were selected as control group. Each administration group was given relevant medicine; control group and model group were given a constant volume of normal saline intragastrically and intraperitoneally, once a day, for 48 consecutive days. After administration, the heart function of rats, and serum levels of inflammatory factors and myocardial injury markers were detected; the pathological morphology of myocardial tissue was observed; the myocardial cell apoptosis rate, the expressions of apoptosis and GAS6/Axl signaling pathway-related proteins were determined. RESULTS Compared with control group, model group showed disorders in the arrangement of myocardial cells and myocardial fibers, hypertrophy of myocardial cells, and nuclear condensation; left ventricular ejection fraction, left ventricular fractional shortening, ratio of early-diastolic and late-diastolic motion velocity of the mitral ring, the protein expression of GAS6, B-cell lymphoma 2/B-cell lymphoma 2 associated X protein and phosphorylated Axl/Axl ratios were decreased significantly (P<0.05). The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1β, interleukin-6, creatine kinase isoenzyme, troponin Ⅰ and myoglobin, the cell apoptosis rate, and cleaved caspase-3/caspase-3 ratio were increased significantly (P<0.05). Leonurine could obviously improve the above pathological conditions and detection indicators (P<0.05), and the effect of leonurine high-dose group was more significant than that of leonurine low-dose group (P<0.05); R428 treatment could reverse the ameliorating effect of high-dose of leonurine on myocardial injury in rats with coronary heart disease (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Leonurine can alleviate myocardial injury in rats with coronary heart disease, and its mechanism of action is related to the activation of the GAS6/Axl signaling pathway.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2008;28(7):1285-1288
OBJECTIVETo study the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound with high-frequency linear-array transducer in the diagnosis of carotid stenosis.
METHODSThe carotid arteries of 31 patients was examined with color Doppler ultrasound (CDU), harmonic contrast ultrasound (HCU) and digital subtractive angiography (DSA), respectively. The result of DSA was used as the golden standard for evaluating the accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of CDU and HCU in the diagnosis of carotid stenosis.
RESULTSSatisfactory images of 62 carotid arteries were obtained from the patients using HCU with high-frequency linear-array transducer. After intravenous injection of contrast agent, densely dotted hyperechogenic signals were found in the vascular lumen, with stronger intensity than that of the vascular walls. The filling defect areas in the lumen indicated vascular stenosis. Thirty carotid stenoses were detected by DSA, and 25 by CDU. The accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of CDU was 83.3%, 82.0% and 84.9%, respectively. HCU identified 29 carotid stenoses with accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of 96.7%, 96.7% and 97.0%, respectively, significantly higher than those of CDU (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONHCU with high frequency linear-array transducer has better the accuracy than CDU and may serve as a good alternative for diagnosis of carotid stenosis.

Chinese Journal of Nephrology 2016;32(12):922-927
Objective To explore the effect of endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER stress) in uric acid?induced phenotypic change in renal tubular epithelial cells (HK?2). Methods (1) HK?2 cells were cultured with 0, 75, 150, 225, 300 mg/L uric acid for 24 h in vitro. (2) The cells were divided into normal control group, ER stress inhibitor 4?PBA (5 μmol/L) group, uric acid (150 mg/L) group and 4?PBA+uric acid group for 24 h. Morphological changes of HK?2 cells were observed under inverted microscope. MTT assay was used to detect the proliferation of HK?2 cells treated with 150 mg/L uric acid for 24, 48 and 72 h. The protein expressions of α?smooth muscle actin (α?SMA), vimentin, snail, glucose regulated protein 78 (GRP78) and the phosphorylation of eukaryotic initiation factor 2α(p?eIF2α) in HK?2 cells were measured by Western blotting. Results Compared with the control group, HK?2 cells in uric acid groups (150, 225, 300 mg/L) showed fibroblast?like appearance. The protein expressions of α?SMA, vimentin, snail, GRP78 and p?eIF2α in 150 mg/L and 225 mg/L uric acid groups were higher than those in the control group (all P<0.05). The proliferation of HK?2 cells in 150 mg/L uric acid group was lower than that in control group at 48 and 72 h (all P<0.01). Compared with the uric acid group, the cell morphology in 4?PBA+uric acid group was improved, and the protein expressions ofα?SMA, vimentin, snail, GRP78 and p?eIF2α were decreased (all P<0.05). Conclusions Uric acid may induce the phenotype transformation of renal tubular epithelial cell, and ER stress is involved. 4?PBA may inhibit the uric acid?induced ER stress response and phenotypic transformation, and may be beneficial in attenuating uric acid?induced renal tubular damage.
