Motor imagery (MI) is a mental process that can be recognized by electroencephalography (EEG) without actual movement. It has significant research value and application potential in the field of brain-computer interface (BCI) technology. To address the challenges posed by the non-stationary nature and low signal-to-noise ratio of MI-EEG signals, this study proposed a Riemannian spatial filtering and domain adaptation (RSFDA) method for improving the accuracy and efficiency of cross-session MI-BCI classification tasks. The approach addressed the issue of inconsistent data distribution between source and target domains through a multi-module collaborative framework, which enhanced the generalization capability of cross-session MI-EEG classification models. Comparative experiments were conducted on three public datasets to evaluate RSFDA against eight existing methods in terms of classification accuracy and computational efficiency. The experimental results demonstrated that RSFDA achieved an average classification accuracy of 79.37%, outperforming the state-of-the-art deep learning method Tensor-CSPNet (76.46%) by 2.91% ( P < 0.01). Furthermore, the proposed method showed significantly lower computational costs, requiring only approximately 3 minutes of average training time compared to Tensor-CSPNet's 25 minutes, representing a reduction of 22 minutes. These findings indicate that the RSFDA method demonstrates superior performance in cross-session MI-EEG classification tasks by effectively balancing accuracy and efficiency. However, its applicability in complex transfer learning scenarios remains to be further investigated.

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2024;46(5):555-561
TCM, as a traditional medical science in China, has received strong support from the country in recent years. Although TCM services are on the rise under the promotion of the government, there is still the problem of unreasonable resource allocation. In this article, the entropy weight TOPSIS method, Theil Index and Moran Index were used to analyze the TCM resources from 2016 to 2021. It is believed that the comprehensive score of China's current TCM resource allocation is not high, and Sichuan, Beijing, Chongqing, Zhejiang, and Inner Mongolia rank relatively high; the TCM resources of were distributed spatially; the imbalance in resource allocation mainly comes from the differences between provinces (cities); it is suggested to intensify the scientific planning of TCM, comprehensively develop the TCM cause according to local conditions, and improve the efficiency of resource utilization.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is characterized by hepatic steatosis and insulin resistance and there are currently no approved drugs for its treatment. Hyperactivation of mTOR complex 1 (mTORC1) and subsequent impairment of the transcription factor EB (TFEB)-mediated autophagy-lysosomal pathway (ALP) are implicated in the development of NAFLD. Accordingly, agents that augment hepatic TFEB transcriptional activity may have therapeutic potential against NAFLD. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of nuciferine, a major active component from lotus leaf, on NAFLD and its underlying mechanism of action. Here we show that nuciferine activated ALP and alleviated steatosis, insulin resistance in the livers of NAFLD mice and palmitic acid-challenged hepatocytes in a TFEB-dependent manner. Mechanistic investigation revealed that nuciferine interacts with the Ragulator subunit hepatitis B X-interacting protein and impairs the interaction of the Ragulator complex with Rag GTPases, thereby suppressing lysosomal localization and activity of mTORC1, which activates TFEB-mediated ALP and further ameliorates hepatic steatosis and insulin resistance. Our present results indicate that nuciferine may be a potential agent for treating NAFLD and that regulation of the mTORC1-TFEB-ALP axis could represent a novel pharmacological strategy to combat NAFLD.

Objective:To investigate any change in the effective connectivity between the bilateral anterior central gyruses after transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).Methods:Twenty-one healthy subjects were examined using resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) before and after receiving continuous theta burst stimulation (cTBS). The brain atlas of the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was used for fine partitioning of the bilateral anterior central gyruses. Granger causality analysis was used to compare any changes in the effective connectivity between them. Results:After the cTBS inhibited the right M1 area, significant changes in effective connectivity among the sub-regions of the bilateral M1 area were observed. The effective connectivity of the right upper limb to the left upper limb and the left head to face were weakened, while that of the left upper limb to the right head, as well as of the face to the right upper limb was enhanced. Conclusion:For people whose right M1 area has been inhibited by cTBS, the effective connectivity changes in both upper limb functional areas of the M1 region reflect inter-hemispheric inhibition. Opposite changes were found in the trunk and upper limbs.

PURPOSE: The treatment of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) remains challenging, due to the absence of estrogen, progesterone, and human epidermal growth factor receptors. This study was designed to evaluate the efficiency and safety of cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cell immunotherapy, following regular chemotherapy, for patients with TNBC. METHODS: A total of 340 patients with postmastectomy TNBC, from January 1, 2010 to June 30, 2014, were included in this retrospective study. Seventy-seven patients received CIK cell immunotherapy, following regular chemotherapy (arm 1), and 263 patients received regular chemotherapy alone (arm 2). The primary aim was overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS), and the treatment responses and adverse events were also evaluated. RESULTS: The 5-year DFS and OS rates in arm 1 were 77.9% and 94.3%, compared with 69.8% and 85.6% in arm 2, respectively (p=0.159 and p=0.035, respectively). This clearly shows that there was no statistical difference in the 5-year DFS between the two groups. Multivariate analyses of arm 1 indicated that a Karnofsky performance score (KPS) ≥90 and stage I/IIA disease were significantly associated with a prolonged DFS period (hazard ratio [HR], 0.25; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.09–0.74; p=0.012; and HR 0.21; 95% CI, 0.06–0.82; p=0.024, respectively), but a KPS ≥90 and stage I/IIA disease were not independent prognostic factors for OS. Toxicity was mild in patients who received the CIK therapy. CONCLUSION: The data suggested that CIK cell immunotherapy improved the efficiency of regular chemotherapy in patients with TNBC, and the side effects of CIK cell immunotherapy were mild.

Objective:
To determine the feasibility and safety of anterior cervical decompression and fusion in severe cervical kyphosis treatment.
Methods:
Totally 29 patients with severe cervical kyphosis(Cobb angle>50°) underwent anterior cervical decompression and fusion from June 2008 to May 2016 were studied retrospectively. There were 19 males and 10 females. The average age was 32.6 years ranging from 14 to 53 years. According to the etiology, 12 patients had iatrogenic deformity (11 had post-laminectomy cervical kyphosis, 1 had kyphosis due to anterior graft subsidence), 5 had neurofibromatosis, 4 had infective kyphosis, 8 had idiopathic cervical kyphosis. The curvature of cervical angle was measured by two-line Cobb method. The severity of cervical kyphosis was evaluated by kyphosis index (KI). Parameters including kyphosis levels, the apex of the kyphosis, C2-7 sagittal vertical axis(SVA) and T1 slope were also measured on lateral radiographs in the neutral position in each patient. The pre- and post-operative Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA) scores, visual analogue scale (VAS) of neek pain, neck disability index (NDI) and cervical alignment were compared. All patients were treated by skull traction. Motor evoked potential and somatosensory evoked potential were applied intraoperation as the spinal cord monitor.
Results:
Skull traction was performed for an average of 6.3 days. The mean vertebral number in kyphotic region was 4.7. The average operation time was 155 minutes and blood loss was 135 ml. The preoperative C2-7Cobb angle was 46.6°±18.1° in average. It was reduced to 11.4°±6.4° in average after operation. The Cobb angle of operation region was 72.9°±19.6° in average before operation. It was reduced to 11.2°±6.4° in average after operation. The kyphosis region correction rate was 84.6%. The mean preoperative C2-7SVA changed from (3.8±14.6) mm to (12.6±7.8) mm postoperatively. The mean preoperative T1 slope changed from -10.6°±16.4° to 7.1°±14.9° postoperatively. The average postoperative C2-7 Cobb angle, Cobb angle of kyphosis region, KI, C2-7 SVA and T1 slope changed significantly compared with preoperation (

Background and objective The e?cacy of second or third-line chemotherapy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients is low. The use of targeted drugs brings survival benefit for some patients. Apatinib, as a novel small molecule antiangiogenic drug, has demonstrated satisfactory anticancer activity across a broad range of malignan-cies. The aim of this study is to evaluate the e?cacy and safety of apatinib in patients with advanced NSCLC after first-line treatment failure. Methods A retrospective study of 128 patients was conducted to evaluate the safety, short-term e?cacy and survival status with different regimens. Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression model were used for analysis. Results Compared with chemotherapy alone, the median progression free survival (PFS) in apatinib monotherapy, chemotherapy alone and apatinib combined with chemotherapy were 3.0 (P=0.381), 3.7 and 6.0 months (P<0.001), respectively. The me-dian overall survival (OS) were 6.0 (P=0.494), 6.5 and 9.0 months (P=0.001), respectively. The incidence of adverse events in grades 3-4 were 18.5%, 15.8% and 16.0%, respectively (P=0.947). Different treatment regimens (P=0.018) and performance status (PS)(P<0.001) were the independent factors of PFS. The smoking history (P=0.014), treatment regimens (P=0.002) and PS (P<0.001) were independent influencing factors of OS. Conclusion Apatinib has a good security. After first-line treat-ment failure of lung cancer, chemotherapy combined with apatinib in second or third-line is beneficial in PFS and OS when compared with chemotherapy alone. But when making comparison between apatinib monotherapy and chemotherapy alone, there is no significant difference in PFS and OS. Patients who never smoke or has a better PS or use combination therapy have longer survival time.

Obej ctive Knockout mice are widely used in the studies of joint diseases .This article investigated the effects of joint processing methods , collagenase types ,and collagenase digestion time on the number of primary fibroblast -like synoviocytes (FLSs) obtained from mice. Methods The hind legs of 6 of the 12 male mice were cut open from the hip joints , but not those of the other 6.FLSs were isolated using the type-Ⅳcollagenase digestion method and purified by differential digestion .Cell morphology was observed under the inverted microscope .The type, viability, and purity of the cells were determined by flow cytometry . Rse ults Significantly fewer FLSs were obtained from the mice with the hind legs cut open ( 19 133 ±115 ) than from those without (24 933 ± 503) (P<0.05).The numbers of FLSs collected from the cell suspension at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,6 , and 7 hours after digestion were 700 ±300 , 600 ±100 , 15 200 ±900 , 5100 ±800 ,2700 ±300 , 900 ±200, and 300 ±100, respectively, the highest at 3 hours. There were statistically significant differences in the total number of FLSs obtained by type-Ⅳ and type-Ⅱ collagenase digestions (24900 ±500v s 18 100 ±400, P<0.05). Conclusion For in virt o culture of primary mouse FLSs, it is recommended that the hip joints be not cut open, and type-Ⅳcollagenase be used with cell sus-pension at 2-6hours after digestion .
