Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2007;5(1):21-26
Objective: To observe the effects of needling Baihui (GV 20), Shuigou (GV 26) and Shenmen (HT 7) on cerebral glucose metabolism in patients with vascular dementia (VD) by cerebral functional imaging technique. Methods: Twenty-five patients with VD were divided into 5 groups (Group A, B, C, D and E) randomly. Patients in the Group A were treated by needling routine acupoints for hemiplegia (Acupoints of the three yang meridians of hand and foot), and besides the routine acupoints, patients in the Group B were treated by needling Baihui(GV 20), the Group C by Shuigou(GV 26), the Group D by Shenmen(HT 7), and the Group E by Baihui(GV 20), Shuigou(GV 26), and Shenmen(HT 7). All the patients were examined by Positron Emission Tomography (PET) to detect the cerebral glucose metabolism in the bilateral frontal lobes(orbital gyri), parietal lobes, temporal lobes(hippocampus and hippocampal gyrus), occipital lobes, thalamus, lentiform nucleus, caudate nuclei, cingulate gyms and cerebellum before treatments and after treatments. Results: After needling the routine acupoints for hemiplegia, glucose metabolism increased in lentiform nucleus and temporal lobe;needling Baihui(GV 20), increased in frontal lobe, temporal lobe and lentiform nucleus;needling Shuigou(GV 26), increased in frontal lobe, thalamus and lentiform nucleus; needling Shenmen(HT 7), increased in parietal lobe and lentiform nucleus; and needling these three acupoints, increased in frontal lobe, temporal lobe, thalamus and lentiform nucleus. Conclusion:Needling Baihui(GV 20), Shuigou(GV 26) and Shenmen(HT 7) affect glucose metabolism in different functional regions of the brain, and Baihui(GV 20), Shuigou(GV26) and Shenmen(HT 7) relate to different functional regions of the brain.

As an important landmark, the posterolateral wall of maxillary sinus can help to locate numbers of significant signs such as maxillary artery and its branches, maxillary nerve and infraorbital nerve, infratemporal fossa and pterygopalatine fossa etc. in the endoscopic surgery for paranasal sinuses and lateral skull base. This article reviewed related researches about the anatomy and endoscopic surgery of posterolateral wall of maxillary sinus.

[Objective]To observe the cerebral activating effects of needling in Yanglingquan(GB34) vs a sham point of healthy volunteers based on the technique of fMRI.[Methods]Sixteen healthy volunteers were randomly divided into GB34 group and sham point group, and received needling in the different points on the right side respectfully.Super nuclear magnetic resonance(1.5T,GE Co.) was used to scan the brain and the obtained experimental data of the regional brain were processed and analyzed by method of Region of Interest(ROI).[Results]There was not any difference between needling in GB34 and the sham point in the cerebral activating rate. While the activating number of needling in the sham point was more than that of needling in GB34 in bilateral parietal lobes and right occipital lobe(P

Journal of Chinese Physician 2001;0(05):-
Objective To investigate the effect of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) on kidney injury in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Methods SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: Sham operation (S) group,SAP group, and LMWH treatment (LT) group. In LT group LMWH was administrated 4 hours after SAP model establishment. The levels of serum amylase, creatinine (Cr) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-?), renal morphological change, and the expression of p65 mRNA and protein in renal specimens were determined 24 hours after model establishment or LMWH treatment. Results The levels of serum amylase,Cr,TNF-? in SAP group were significantly higher than those in S group and LT group (all P0.05). The expression of p65 protein and mRNA of renal tissues in SAP group was significantly higher than that in S group and LT group (all P

Objective To improve the understanding of cardiac valve involvement in Behcet's disease (BD).Methods The echocardiographic manifestations of 13 patients with BD were analysed and the results of 5 patients were compared with those of operation. Results Cardiac valve involvement wasn't rare.In the study, cardiac valve involvement was observed in 26% (13/50) of patients with BD.The principal manifestations of cardiac valve involvement were valve prolapse, perforation, split and regurgitation.Four (80%) patients had repeated operation. Conclusion Echocardiography provides the important information of valvular morphology and function in BD.

Objective To determine the effect of caspase 9 in the apoptosis of hepatoma cells induced by flurouracil , and to investigate the activity alteration and proteolytic cleavage of caspase 9. Methods The human hepatoma HepG2 cells were treated with flurouracil for 2,4,8,16,24h respectively. The caspase 9 activity was detected using caspase 9 Fluorescent Assay Kit.Proteolytic cleavage of caspase 9 was analyzed by Western blot. The apoptotic rates of HepG2 cells induced by flurouracil with or without caspase 9 inhibitor treatment were measured by flow cytometry. Results Four hours after being treated with flurouracil, the caspase 9 activity in HepG2 cells increased gradually and reached the peak at 16h.Compared with the control group, the difference was significant (P

Objective To evaluate the unusual echocardiographic manifestation and its clinical value in the patients with constrictive pericarditis (CP). Methods To analyse the echocardiographic manifestation of CP in 187 patients retrospectively, especially left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and variation with respiration (VER) in mitral E velocity. Results Most of the patients with CP expressed the common echocardiographic features of CP. But some unusual echocardiographic signs were revealed. (1)LVEF

OBJECTIVEThis study aimed to explore further the mechanisms of tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) cell recurrence, metastasis, and diffusion, as well as to establish the experimental basis for the molecular biology research on TSSC. We intend to complete our objective through differential proteomics and preliminary analysis protein expression of exosomes derived from TSCC and normal mucosa cells.
METHODSWe acquired cultured supernatant fluid in vitro in the laboratory by culturing TSCC (tongue cancer Tca8113 cell line) and human normal mucosa cells (HOK cell line). The exosomes were separated and purified through differential centrifugation. Furthermore, the different protein expressions were identified through dielectrophoresis and mass spectrometry. The functions of the different protein expressions were identified through an online database search.
RESULTSTSCC and human normal mucosa cells secrete a large amount of capsule bubble structure substances in vitro, as confirmed by electron microscopy and surface markers heat shock protein-70 and major histocompatibility complex class 1. A total of 16 oral cancer cell-derived exosomes that expressed quantity more than two times, twelve that increased their expression levels, and four that cut their expressions were identified through the differential proteomics research on the two groups.
CONCLUSIONDifferential proteins that were verified through the online database serve an important function in exosome formation and in the progress of cancer.
