The effects of dazoxiben on the release of 6-keto-prostaglandin F1?(6-keto-PGF1?) and thromboxane B2(TxB2) in rat neutrophils and 14C-arachidonic acid (14C-AA) metabolization in washed rat platelets were studied.Dazoxiben increased the release of 6-kcto-PGF1? and decreased the release of TxB2 from A23187-stimulated rat neutrophils in a dose-dependent manner in the range of 0.1-5?mol/L drug.The products of 14C-AA metabolism in washed rat platelets wire determined by thin-layer i.adiochromatogra-phy, including thin-layer radio-scanning, autoradiography and liquid scintillation counting.In platelet suspensions stimulated in vitro with 14C-AA, TxB2 and 12-hydro-xy-5, 8,10-heptadecatrienoic acid (HHT) contents were reduced in a doss-dependent manner and a significant redirection of endo-peroxide metabolism to prostaglandin E2, F2?, and D2 was demonstrated after the addition of 0.5~50?mol/L dazoxiben.It is suggested that dazoxiben can inhibit the activity of thromboxane A, synthttases not only in rat platflets but also in rat neutrophils.

Objective To evaluate the outcomes of microdiscectomy for treatment of recurrent lumbar disc hemiations. Methods There were 18 cases of recurrent lumbar disc berniations accepted microdiscectomy (reoperation group), compared with 30 cases of primary lumbar microdiscectomy (primary group). Operating time, blood loss and length of hospital stay were compared between two groups. MacNab criteria were used to evaluate the outcomes. Results Operating time was a mean of 75 min in reoperation group, 52 min in primary group. Blood loss of reoperation group was 70 ml, 50ml in primary group. The results demonstrated 88.2% success rate in reoperation group and 93.1% in primary group. There was no significant dif-ference in two groups (P ＞ 0.05). Conclusion Outcomes of Lambar mierodisceetomy with mini-open for treatment of recurrent lumbar disc herniations are similar to primary lumbar mierodiscectomy.

Objective To investigate Caspase 3 activity in the ischemia reperfusion injury in rats and the protective effect of ischemic preconditioning and its possible mechanism.Methods 30 rats were randomly assigned to ischemia reperfusion (IR) group, ischemic preconditioning(IP) group,sham-operation(S)group.The serum aspartate transaminase (AST),alanine transaminase(ALT),liver caspase 3 activity,and apoptosis index(AI) of hepatocytes were examined in the three groups at 3 hours after repersusion.Results The serum AST,ALT,liver caspase 3 activity and apoptotic hepatocytes were significantly higher in both IP and IR groups than those in S group(P

Objective To study the relationship between expression of Caspase 3 and regression of hemangioma. Methods Caspase 3 expression was detected in 79 hemangiomas and 5 normal skin tissues by immunohistochemistry (SP). Results In 79 hemangiomas, the positive rates of Caspase 3 expression in proliferating, involuting and involuted phases were 52.4%, 91.2% and 83.3%, respectively. The expression of Caspase 3 in involuted and involuting phases was higher than proliferating phase( P 0.05). Conclusion Caspase 3 is involved in the converting of hemangiomas from proliferating phase into involuting phase. The activation of Caspase 3 may induce apoptosis of endothelial cells, thus leading to the regression of hemagioma.

【Objective】To observe the effect of acupoint external application of herbal drugs on pathological changes of nasal mucosa of allergic rhinitis mice. 【Methods】 Sixty BALB/c mice were divided into 5 groups: A(normal),B(model),C(treated with external application of herbal drugs on acupoints),D(treated with dexamethasone) and E(treated with PBS).Except group A,the mice in other groups were sensitized by ovalbumin(OVA).On the 15~(th) of the first sensitization,group C received external application of medicinal disc(mainly composed of Semen Sinapis, Rhizoma Corydalis,Herba Asari,Radix Kansui,Fructus Xanthii,etc.) on Dazhui (GV14)point,group D received intraperitoneal injection of 0.1?g/L dexamethasone(0.5?mL for each mouse) one hour before nasal dripping of OVA solution,and group E received external application of paper disc on Dazhui point and intraperitoneal injection of(0.1?g/L) PBS(0.5 mL for each mouse) one hour before nasal dripping of OVA solution,qd,for 4 weeks.After treatment,the mice were executed and the nasal mucosa was fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde.Routine paraffin slices were prepared and stained by haematoxylin and eosin.The pathological features of nasal mucosa were observed under light microscope,and eosinophil(EOS),neutrophil and lymphocyte count was performed in different groups.【Results】Compared to group A,the infiltration of EOS and neutrophil in nasal mucosa was obvious in group B(P0.05).【Conclusion】The infiltration of EOS in nasal mucosa plays an important role in the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis and the decrease of EOS infiltration may be one of the therapeutic mechanism of external application of herbal drugs on acupoints for allergic rhinitis.

A new method of mismatching PCR-RFL P was performed in our lab in ge- netic diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy(SMA) and controls.Our data shows:9cases in 1 0 presumed SMA children are positive,i.e. deletion of telomeric SMN gene.One case is negative.2 0 cases of normal familial members and2 0 cases of normal controls are all nega- tive.Our results matches the criteria and reports of foreign countries.The method we used is highly specific,sensitive and useful and is suittable for genetic diagnosis of SMA and its prenatal diagnosis.

Objective To evaluate the primary outcomes of minimally invasive lumbar microdiscectomy. Methods There were 34 cases with single lumbar disc herniation treatment of tubular retractor access with METRx system and microdiscectomy(MMD group)and same cases with treatment of conventional discectomy(CD group).Operating time,blood loss,time of leaving the bed and length of hospital stay were compared in two groups.The postoperative wound pain was measured using a visual analog scale(VAS).The modified MacNab criteria were used to evaluate the outcomes. ResuIts The mean operating time was 65 min in MMD group,63 min in CD group.The mean blood loss was 34 ml in MMD group,85 ml in CD group.To compare in two groups,there was significant difference(P＜0.05).The mean time of leaving the bed after operation was 3.2 d in MMD group.5.8 d in CD group.The mean length of hospital stay was 5.8 d in MMD group.9.6 d in CD group.The mean VAS of the postoperative wound pain was 3.2 scores in MMD group,5.6 scores in CD group.To compare in two groups,there was significant difference(P＜0.05).There was one complication in MMD group,4 in CD group.Thirty-three cases got follow-up mean 8.5 months in MMD group.The success rate was 93.9%. Conclusion The minimally invasive lumbar microdiscectomy has the advantages on less trauma,safety,quickly postoperative recovery,and satisfactory outcomes.

With the burgeoning of continuing medical education, grass-roots hospitals are confronted with quite a number of problems in the implementation of the task, such as a general rush into action with each department going its own way, incontrollable educational expenses that are beyond the hospitals, difficulties in developing programs at the hospital level because of the limitation of academic disciplines, and the buying and selling of credits. In view of the above problems, the authors put forward some suggestions for formulating a series of continuing medical education management strategies that both conform to the situation in our country and suit the needs of health professionals at grass-roots institutions.

Objective To compare the protective effect of ischemic preconditioning(IP) and caspase inhibitor on ischemia reperfusion(IR) injury of the liver in rats,and to investigate the possible mechanism. Methods SD rats subjected to 60 or 120 minutes of 70% hepatic ischemia and 3 hours of reperfusion,respectively,then divided randomly into 6 groups: (1)Ischemia/ reperfusion group 1 (IR 1 group);(2)IR 2 group;(3)Ischemia preconditioning group 1(IP 1 group);(4)IP 2 group; (5)Caspase inhibitor treatment group1(T 1 group);(6)T 2 group.Serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransfernase (ALT),and liver Caspase-3 activity, hepatocytes apoptosis,and animal seven-day(7 d) survive rate were determined. Results Both ischemic preconditioning and Caspase inhibitor treatment could protect the liver against IR injury,and their protective effect in IP 1 group and T 1 group was equally at 3h reperfusion after 60min ischemia. At 3h reperfusion after 120min ischemia, the effect of inhibiting Caspase-3 activity and decreasing hepatocyte apoptosis in T 2 group were significantly superior to those in IP 2 group(P0.05). Conclusions Both IP and Caspase inhibitor treatment can protect the liver against IR injury in rats,and the protective effect is no significant difference between the two methods.However IP is more simple?safe and cheaper comparing with Caspase inhibitor treatment.
