Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and effects on hemorheology of acupuncture therapy combined with gaba-pentin in the treatment of patients with tension headache. Methods:Totally 92 cases of patients with tension headache were randomly divided into the observation group (n=46) and the control group (n=46) according to the random number table. The control group was given gabapentin, while the observation group was treated with acupuncture therapy on the basis of treatment in the control group. The treatment course was 4 weeks. The clinical efficacy, changes of the headache indices, VAS score and hemorheology levels before and after the treatments in the two groups were compared, and the incidence of adverse reactions was observed as well. Results:The to-tal effective rate of the observation group (93. 48%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (73. 91%, P<0. 05). Af-ter the treatment, the headache indices in both groups significantly decreased (P<0. 05), and the decrease in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group (P<0. 05). The VAS scores in both groups significantly decreased after the treat-ment (P<0. 05), and the decrease in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group (P<0. 05). The plas-ma viscosity, hematocrit and platelet aggregation rate in both groups significantly decreased after the treatment (P<0. 05), and the decrease in the observation group was more notable than that in the control group (P<0. 05). No severe adverse reactions were shown in both groups during the treatment course. Conclusion: Acupuncture therapy combined with gabapentin in the treatment of patients with tension headache shows striking effects, which can improve hemorheology with promising safety and deserves further studies.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy and safety of levofloxacin in the treatment of respiratory tract infection in elderly patients. METHODS An open clinical trial was conducted for the treatment of respiratory tract infection in elderly patients. The dosage of the drug was 0.5g once daily injection, the duration of treatment was 7-14 days. RESULTS The total cure rate, the total response rate and the bacterial clearance rate were 56.7%,83.3%,and 82.1%,respectively. CONCLUSIONS Levofloxacin is a drug both effective and safe for respiratory tract infection in elderly patients. The dosage of the drug(0.5g/day) can reach higher clinical effective rate, best tolerance and compliancy.

Objective To study the clincial effectiveness and safety of endoscopic sphincteropapillotomy combined with balloon dilation for decompensated cirrhosis accompanied with choledocholithiasis. Methods Data of 79 cases of decompensated cirrhosis patients with choledocholithiasis who underwent limited endoscopic sphincterotomy plus endoscopic papillary balloon dilation (ESBD,the ESBD group) and 42 cases who underwent endoscopic papillary balloon dilation(EPBD,the EPBD group)were retrospectively analysed and compared for complete stone clearance rate,one-time stone clearance rate and complications. Results The rate of complete stone clearance and one-time stone clearance were 94.9% (75/79) and 77.2% (61/79)in ESBD group, and those were 88.1% (37/42) and 59.5% (25/42) in EPBD group respectively. The rate of complete stone clearance was a little higher in ESBD group than that in EPBD group. In ESBD group,ERCP-related bleeding occurred in 3 patients (3.8%),post-ERCP hyperamylasemia in 3 (3.8%)and post-ERCP pancreatitis in 2 (2.5%) ; while in EPBD group,post-ERCP hyperamylasemia occurred in 8 patients(19.0%),post-ERCP pancreatitis in 6(14.3%) and ERCP-related bleeding did not occur. There were no significant difference in ERCP-related bleeding between ESBD group and EPBD group (P =0.551).However,the rates of post-ERCP pancreatitis and hyperamylasemia in ESBD group were significantly lower than those in EPBD group(P < 0.05).Conclusion ESBD is a safe and effective procedure for choledocholithiasis accompanied by decompensated cirrhosis, with several advantages over EPBD in terms of higher one-time stone clearance rate, reduced risk of post-ERCP pancreatitis and hyperamylasemia, and without noticeable increase in the risk of bleeding related to ERCP.

Objective:To observe the effects of liver-soothing spirit-regulating acupuncture on the behaviors and expression levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1A(5-HT1AR)and 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 2A(5-HT2AR)in the hippocampus of insomnia rats due to liver Qi stagnation. Methods:Ten of the 70 Wistar rats were randomly selected as the blank group, and the remaining rats were subjected to preparing the insomnia model due to liver Qi stagnation by the chronic tail clamping stimulation combined with intraperitoneal injection of para-chlorophenyl alanine.Fifty successful model rats were randomly divided into a model group,a grasp group,a Western medicine group,an acupuncture group, and a sham acupuncture group, with 10 rats in each group.Rats in the grasp group were grabbed in the same way as those in the acupuncture group.Rats in the Western medicine group were given estazolam solution by intragastric administration.Rats in the acupuncture group received liver-soothing spirit-regulating acupuncture at Baihui(GV20),Neiguan(PC6),Shenmen(HT7),and Taichong(LR3);rats in the sham acupuncture group received acupuncture at 4 non-meridian non-point spots. All groups were treated once a day for 7 d.Pentobarbital sleep test was used to evaluate the sleep latency(SL)and sleep time(ST)of rats in each group after 7 d of intervention;the proportion of the number of entry into the open arms(OE%)and the proportion of the residence time in the open arms(OT%)were monitored by elevated plus maze test(EPMT);the open field test(OFT)was used to monitor the numbers of standing upright, horizontal cross-grid,and fecal grains in rats. The expression levels of 5-HT1AR and 5-HT2AR in rat hippocampus were detected by Western blotting. Results:The body mass gain,ST,OE%,OT%,upright standing times, horizontal cross-grid times, and the 5-HT1AR expression level in the hippocampus were significantly decreased(P<0.01),while the SL and 5-HT2AR expression level in the hippocampus were significantly increased(P<0.01)in the model group compared with the blank group. After intervention, the body mass,ST,OT%,OE%,upright standing times, horizontal cross-grid times, and hippocampal 5-HT1AR expression level were significantly increased(P<0.01 or P<0.05),while the SL and hippocampal 5-HT2AR expression level were significantly decreased(P<0.01 or P<0.05)in the acupuncture group and the Western medicine group compared with the grasp group.Compared with the Western medicine group,OT%,SL,and hippocampal 5-HT1AR expression level were significantly increased in the acupuncture group(P<0.05).The body mass,OT%,OE%,ST,upright standing times, horizontal cross-grid times, and the 5-HT1AR expression level in the hippocampus were significantly increased(P<0.01),while the SL and 5-HT2AR expression level in the hippocampus were significantly decreased(P<0.01)in the acupuncture group compared with the sham acupuncture group. Conclusion:Liver-soothing spirit-regulating acupuncture can not only improve sleep but also improve the abnormal behaviors and mood of insomnia rats due to liver Qi stagnation, and the improvement effect on abnormal mood is better than that of Western medicine. The mechanism may be related to the regulation of 5-HT1AR and 5-HT2AR
