Objectives: To research the effects of recombinant human growth hormone(rhGH) with total parenteral nutrition(TPN) on the old patients following abdominal surgery. Methods: 26 old patients receiving TPN after major abdominal surgery were selected and distributed to study group(rhGH+TPN, n =13) and control group(TPN only, n =13).For 7 days after operation, rhGH (8 U/d) or normal saline(in control group) were used. The patients' weight, serum albumin, right hand grip, sleep time and the time of incision cicatrized were determined. Results: The increase of weight, level of plasma albumin, grip power of right hand and sleep time were improved more in study group than those in control group. The incision cicatrized time was also shortened in study group. Conclusions: Growth hormone can promote protein synthesis, accelerate incision healing and reduce the postoperative fatigue syndrome.

[ABSTRACT]AIM:Toinvestigatetheroleofcysteine-rich61(Cyr61/CNN1)inproliferationandmigrationof bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells ( BMSCs ) .METHODS: The lentiviral vector carrying CCN 1 ( Lenti-GFP-CCN1 ) was constructed and then transfected into the rat BMSCs .The cells were divided into non-transfection group , transfection group ( transfected with Lenti-GFP-CCN1 ) and negative control group ( Lenti-GFP ) .The fluorescence intensity of the transfected BMSCs was observed under inverted fluorescence microscope .The effects of CCN1 on the proliferation and mi-gration of BMSCs were detected by MTT assay and scratch wound healing assay .RESULTS:The proliferation of BMSCs transfected with Lenti-GFP CCN1 had no significant difference compared with negative control group and control group .The width/thickness ratio of migrated BMSCs in wound healing was significantly higher in Lenti-GFP-CCN1 group than that in negative control group and control group (P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Exogenous CCN1 promotes the migration of BMSCs.

Objective To observe the effects of atorvastatin calcium on serum tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF)-α and C-reactive protein (CRP) in patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI), so as to approach the mechanism of atorvastatin calcium inhibiting ACI inflammatory injury. Methods Eighty-four patients with ACI were randomly divided into 2 groups: group B (42 cases, treated with antiplatelet therapy and improving cerebral circulation), group A(42 cases, treated with atorvastatin calcium 20 mg/d after the onset of ACI for 28 days on the base of group B). TNF- α and CRP were detected before treatment and in the 3rd,7th day after treatment. The European stroke scale (ESS) was evaluated on the same time. A healthy control group (group C, 16 cases) was also included in the study. Results The peak of CRP and TNF-α levels were observed in the 3rd and 7th day after treatment respectively, and the levels of group A were lower than those of group B [(13.00 ± 2.45) mg/L vs (19.21 ± 3.67) mg/L,(19.79 ± 11.01) ng/L vs (30.69 ± 18.47) ng/L, P < 0.05]. In the 7th day after treatment, the scores of ESS was higher in group A than that in group B [(79.19 ± 30.59) scores vs (63.91 ± 27.87) scores, P < 0.05]. Conclusions Atorvastatin calcium can prevent the increase of serum TNF-α and CRP, and it has anti-inflammatory effect. Atorvastatin calcium may have the role of neuroprotection besides lipid-lowering.

Objective To observe the changes of HNP1-3 and NE content in serum quantitatively during perioperation of cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB),and to explore the role of changes of HNP1-3 and NE content in early diagnosis of system inflammatory response syndromes(SIRS)after cardiopulmonary bypass. Methods The contents of HNP1-3 and NE in serum during perioperation of 21 cardiac surgeries under cardiopulmonary bypass were measured quantitatively using ELISA method, and the contents of CK,CK-MB and C-RP in serum were measured at the same time points as that of HNP1-3 and NE.Results The contents of HNP1-3 and NE in serum were 54.55?26.45 ng/ml and 41.09?9.93 ng/ml respectively before CPB,and they were 435.45?500.13 ng/ml and 250.91?97.21 ng/ml respectively 0.5 h after CPB which were significantly higher than that before CPB(P
