Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion 2016;35(8):1013-1015
This article sorts out and analyzes acupuncture-moxibustion items inTreatise on Cold Damage DiseasesandSynopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamberand proposes regularities in application of and the characteristic ofZhangZhong-jing’s acupuncture and moxibustion. Acupuncture was often used for unblocking and regulating meridional qi and clearing and purging excessive heat. Moxibustion was often used for warming yang and remedying deficiency or dispersing and unblocking yang qi. Because of convenient operation, acupuncture-moxibustion therapy was often used to treatdangerous and serious diseases. Acupuncture and moxibustion were often combined with herbal prescriptions and other therapeutic methods to improve therapeutic effects, especially on difficult and complicated diseases.ZhangZhong-jing’s guiding thought ofacupuncture-moxibustion treatment first advocates treatment of diseases from the root and meanwhile, pays attention to treatment of both symptoms and causes of diseases. Secondarily, it emphasizes acupuncture-moxibustion treatment based on syndrome differentiation and especially values pulse condition, meridians and acupuncture points. It has abundant contents in treating the same disease with different methods and often selects specific acupoints. Thirdly, it favours preventive treatment of diseases, andwhether prevention of diseases before they arise or prevention of diseases from exacerbating was embodied in his acupuncture-moxibustion treatment.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 1993;0(04):-
Objective To study the characteristics of heart rate variabili ty (HRV) in states of calm supine position, supine position and counting, and ca lm upstanding position, and the relationship with TCM syndromes of cold-h eat and deficiency-excess. Methods Totally 233 patient s diagnosed by TCM & western medicine with different syndromes were divided into five groups. B y comparing the general changes of frequency domain of HRV under three kinds of condition s, the variation of HRV indexes was measured in the excess heat syndrome group ( 64 cases), deficiency cold syndrome group (16 cases), cold-heat complex syndrom e group (38 cases), yin deficiency with fire syndrome group (67 cases), and defic iency of both yin and yang syndrome group (48 cases). Results The low frequenc y (LF) and low frequency normalized unit (LFNU) manifested sympathetic nervous a ctivity were augmented and were related with the yang syndrome and heat syndrome obvi ously. The high frequency (HF) and high frequency normalized unit (HFNU) manifes ted parasympathetic nervous activity were augmented and were related with the yi n syn drome and cold syndrome. The increased LF/HF reflected the yang syndrome and hea t syndrome. The decreased LF/HF reflected yin syndrome and cold syndrome. The co ndition of counting had a weighing influence on the diagnosis of yang syndrome a nd heat syndrome. And the condition of upstanding played a weighing role in defi ciency syndrome and cold syndrome. Conclusion The law o f changes of HRV under three kinds of condition is helpful in syndrome differentiation of cold-heat an d deficiency-excess.

Objective To investigate the keratin 9 gene mutation in epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma (EPPK) and its relationship with clinical manifestations. Methods Three Chinese pedigrees with EPPK were studied. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed to amplify the seven exons encoded by keratin 9. Denaturing high-performance liquid chromatography (DHPLC), DNA sequencing and allele-specific PCR were used to reveal the sequence variation in the PCR products. Results An insertion-deletion mutation in the exon 1 of keratin 9 497delAinsGGCT, was revealed in all 3 EPPK families, resulting in the keratin 9 change from tyrosine166 to tryptophan and leucine (Y166delinsWL). Allele-specific PCR confirmed that the mutation was not a commonly seen polymorphism, but a novel mutation which has not been reported in The Human Intermediate Filament Mutation Database (http://www.interfil.org). Conclusions A new keratin 9 gene mutation, 497delAinsGGCT, is found in these Chinese EPPK pedigrees, which may be the genetic basis of EPPK.

Objective To determine the baseline echocardiographic characteristics and the time course and degree of recovery of left ventricular (LV) systolic dysfunction in patients with tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy ( TCM ) . Methods Seven hundred and fifteen patients received radiofrequency cather ablation ( RFCA ) for tachycardiarrhymias from July 2010 to July 2013 were screened in this study. Only 33 patients with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (LVEF<50% and improved≥15%) were diagnosed with tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy and were included in the study. Patients with early improvement (over 25%increase in LVEF at 1-week follow-up compared to the baseline ) were enrolled in the improved group , and the rest patients were enrolled in the improved group. All Patients received transthoracic echocardiography for LV size and function detection at 1 week and at 3,6,12 months follow-up. Results The average baseline of the LV end-diastolic diameter, and the LVEF were (55 ± 10.7)mm and (38 ± 4.6)%, repectively. Early improvement ( over 25%increase in LVEF at 1-week follow-up compared to the baseline ) in the improved group was observed in 16 patients. Patients with early improvement had higher LVEF at 12-month follow-up compared to the patients without early improvement [(69.2± 4.2)% vs (58.1 ± 6.9)%, P < 0.001]. Conclusions RFCA is proved to be a relatively safe and effecient treatment method. Atrial fibrillation related to TCM , rhythm control is superior to the rate control. The early improvement in LVEF may potentially predict the complete reversibility of LV systolic dysfunction.
