OBJECTIVE: To probe into the effects of living habit, diet, drug and hereditary factors related to daily life so as to reduce the incidence of carcinoma of large intestine through changing the life style.DATA SOURCES: Articles on carcinoma of large intestine published between January 1980 and December 2003 were retrieved in NCBI Entrez PubMed with the key words of "carcinoma of large intestine, epidemiology and prevention" and the language restricted to English. Meanwhile, articles on carcinoma of large intestine published between January 1994 and December 2003 were searched for in CNKI database with the Chinese key words of "carcinoma of large intestine, epidemiology and prevention" and the language restricted to Chinese.STUDY SELECTION: The related literature was selected by the primary tions, hormone level and genetic factors on the morbidity of carcinoma of excluding blind method was not required. Exclusion criteria: review articles and papers of meta-analysis and replicated studies.DATA EXTRACTION: Totally 84 related articles were collected, including 17 retrieved with retrospective approach. Fifty-eight articles met the inclusion criteria, and 26 papers were excluded. Among the excluded papers, 6 papers were about the basic biological and chemical research on carcinoma of large intestine, 12 were about different pathological types of carcinoma of large intestine and distribution of hospitalized cases, 4 were meta-analysis, and 4 were of popular science and delayed diagnosis due to physicians or patients themselves. The collected data showed that the morbidity and distribution of large intestine carcinoma were related to region, age, dietary factor, verminosis, heredity, hormone and chronic intestinal diseases and long-term stress.characteristics, trace element intake and living habits on the morbidity of responding preventive measures for reducing the incidence of large intestine carcinoma.CONCLUSION: With the improvement of living standard, the occurrence .and distribution of carcinoma of large intestine increase, presenting a tendency to occur in young people. Developing good life style and dietary habit and doing moderate exercise can prevent the occurrence of carcinoma of large intestine.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2013;(18):1137-1140
Pituitary tumors are clinically common neoplasms involved in the central nervous system. The endoscopic endonasal approach is a safe and feasible technique for managing pituitary tumors. Endoscopic technology has been increasingly used in clinical practice because it results in limited nasal injury, decreased operating time and postoperative complications, and quick postoperative re-covery. This study aims to evaluate the advantages and effectiveness of the endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach for the re-moval of pituitary tumors. This approach should be further modified and optimized in clinical trials and practices.

Objective:To clarify the significance of the fractional anisotropy(FA) value and apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC) value of diffusion tensor imaging(DTI) applied in the glioma grading with Meta-analysis, and to provide a reference for selecting the treatment program and judging the prognosis of glioma. Methods:Computer search was performed in PubMed database, EMBASE database,CBM, CNKI, Wanfang database, and VIP database. The relevant neurosurgery magazines and neuroimaging magazines, the proceedings of academic meeting were retrieved by hand and the references of related reviews were retrospectively retrieved. Then the case-series studies according to inclusion and exclusion criteria were screened, and the qualities of included studies were evaluated.Meta-analysis was carried out by Review Manager 5.2 software. Results:Nine studies were included. The FA value of low-grade glioma(LGG) in tumor centre was lower than that of high-grade glioma(HGG) (χ2=11.94,df=8,P=0.15;I2=33%,Z=2.78,P=0.005;WMDFA=-0.02,95%CI:-0.03--0.01),and the ADC value of LGG in tumor centre was higher than that of HGG (χ2=5.26,df=4,P=0.26;I2=24%,Z=2.19,P=0.03;WMDADC=0.15,95%CI:0.02-0.28).Conclusion:When the FA value in tumor centre of the glioma is increasd, the ADC value is decreased, and the grade of glioma is increasd. The FA value and ADC value of DTI can help determine the grade of gliomas.

Objective To evaluate the value of CT guided percutaneous lumbar diskectomy (CT PLD) at plateau area. Methods Sixty eight cases of lumbar disc herniation was reated with CT PLD. (1)Before operation, diseased intervertebral disc was scanned, cases were selected, and operation plan was plotted . (2)The best puncture arrangement was chosen on the current video CT picture by designing the puncture path, noting down the puncture parameter, and marking the puncture spot on patient′s body surface. (3)Puncture was performed according to fixed parameter. (4)Operation was performed after the puncture needle was put into the disc ascertained by scan.(5)CT scan was done again after operation to observe if the puncture path had bleeding and intervertebral disc recovery. Results After 3 to 18 months′ follow up, 28 cases were prominent effective and 36 cases effective. The lumbar disc backed 1 to 4 mm. The total effective rate was 94.12%. Conclusion CT PLD is an ideal therapeutic method for lumbar disc herniation at plateau area because it is safe and effective and with less complications.

This study established superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO)-labeled nerve growth factor-beta (NGF-beta) gene-modified spinal cord-derived neural stem cells (NSCs). The E14 rat embryonic spinal cord-derived NSCs were isolated and cultured. The cells of the third passage were transfected with plasmid pcDNA3-hNGFbeta by using FuGENE HD transfection reagent. The expression of NGF-beta was measured by immunocytochemistry and Western blotting. The positive clones were selected, allowed to proliferate and then labeled with SPIO, which was mediated by FuGENE HD transfection reagent. Prussian blue staining and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to identify the SPIO particles in the cells. The distinctive markers for stem cells (nestin), neuron (beta-III-tubulin), oligodendrocyte (CNPase) and astrocyte (GFAP) were employed to evaluate the differentiation ability of the labeled cells. The immunocytochemistry and western blotting showed that NGF-beta was expressed in spinal cord-derived NSCs. Prussian blue staining indicated that numerous blue-stained particles appeared in the cytoplasma of the labeled cells. TEM showed that SPIO particles were found in vacuolar structures of different sizes and the cytoplasma. The immunocytochemistry demonstrated that the labeled cells were nestin-positive. After differentiation, the cells expressed beta-III-tubulin, CNPase and GFAP. It was concluded that the SPIO-labeled NGF-beta gene-modified spinal cord-derived NSC were successfully established, which are multipotent and capable of self-renewal.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2014;34(2):188-192
OBJECTIVETo investigate the changes in aorta morphology and Ca(2+)-activated K(+) (KCa) channel expression in the diabetic rats.
METHODSA diabetic rat model was established by a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (30 mg/kg) after a modified high fat and glucose diet for 8 weeks. Pathological changes in the aorta were observed with HE staining, elastic fiber staining, Masson's trichrome staining and immunohistochemistry. Both the mRNA and protein levels of KCa channels in the aorta were measured by RT-PCR and Western blotting.
RESULTSEarly atherosclerotic changes were observed in the aorta wall of the diabetic rats. The mRNA and protein levels of KCa1.1 channel α- and β-subunits were significantly decreased, while the expression of KCa3.1 channels was obviously enhanced in the middle layer of the aorta in the diabetic rats.
CONCLUSIONKCa channel switching in smooth muscles may play a role in the development of atherosclerosis in diabetic rats.
