Objective To systematically assess the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture and moxibustion for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Methods Articles were searched from databases, i.e., CNKI, VIP, WanFang Data, CBM, Embase, and PubMed. Articles about RCT on acupuncture and moxibustion for rheumatoid arthritis and traditional medicine therapy were under meta-analysis. Results Totally 24 articles involving 2006 patients were included. The results of meta-analysis indicated that the overall effective rate of treatment in the group receiving acupuncture and moxibustion was higher than that in the drug group, with statistical significance [OR=2.73, 95%CI (2.18, 3.41), Z=8.78, P<0.000 01]. Sub-group analysis showed that:acupuncture and moxibustion showed statistical significance in decreasing serum RF levels compared with drug therapy [MD=-2.92, 95%CI (-5.60, -0.25), P<0.05]. Acupuncture and moxibustion showed statistical significance in decreasing serum ESR levels compared with drug therapy [MD=-2.99, 95%CI (-4.78, -1.21), P<0.05]. Acupuncture and moxibustion showed statistical significance in decreasing serum CPR levels compared with drug therapy [MD=-1.44, 95%CI (-2.44, -0.44), P <0.05]. Conclusion The overall effective rates of acupuncture and moxibustion for rheumatoid arthritis and the decreasing levels of RF, ESR, CRP are superior to drug therapy, but it still needs larger samples, multi-center, and high quality RCT to verify.

Vagus nerve reflex is a rare complication of percutaneous renal decompression. It is often induced by excessively rapid decompression of severe hydronephrosis and traction of the main nerves innervating the kidney. The clinical manifestations are irritability, sweating, clammy skin, hiccups, slow heart rate. It is easy to misdiagnose. In this study, 4 patients with vagus nerve excitement after percutaneous renal decompression were treated. After monitoring the patient’s vital signs and giving treatment such as expanding blood volume and raising blood pressure, the symptoms gradually disappeared.

Objective To systematically evaluate the optimal indwelling time of double?J stent in the treatment of ureteral complicated calculi post?ureteroscopy. Methods A total of 161 patients with complicated ureteral calculi were enrolled in this study from August 2012 to August 2015. All patients received the treatment of ureteroscopic holmium YAG Laser lithotripsy and were randomly divided into 3 groups according to varied double?J stent indwelling time: group A < 2 weeks (n = 43),group B from 2 ~ 6 weeks(n = 67),and group C>6 weeks (n = 51). Complications of three groups were compared and the hydronephrosis after removing double?J stent was recorded. Results The rate of complications of group C was significantly higher than that in group A and group B (P<0.017). However, group A(10/43)has a higher rate of ureterostenosis after removing double?J stent compared with group B(4/67)and group C(3/51),while no statistical significance was observed between group B and group C. Conclusion The incidence of complications after lithotripsy increased with the indwelling time of double?J stent, but the short indwelling time would led to ureterostenosis. Therefore, the optimal indwelling time of double?J stent after flexible ureteroscopy was 2 to 6 weeks, and the indwelling time for patients with injury ureteral mucosa could be appropriately prolonged.

BACKGROUND:Chinese medicine therapy is effective for patients with mild-to-moderate lumbar spinal stenosis and also has a better long-term effect than surgical patients, which can enhance perioperative efficacy and prevent spinal restenosis. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of “Tongmai songjin yigu” massage therapy on lumbar spinal stenosis. METHODS:Eighty-four patients with degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis were randomly and equaly divided into treatment group and control group. Treatment group were treated with “Tongmai songjin yigu” massage therapy; patients in the control group were treated according to the guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of common disease in orthopedics and traumatology promulgated by China Association of Chinese Medicine, once a day, continuous for 2 weeks. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After treatment, the visual analog scale score in the treatment group was improved significantly (P < 0.05), and there was a significant difference in the Japanese Orthopaedic Association Scores on subjective symptom and daily life between the treatment and control groups (P < 0.05). The effective rate of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group (P< 0.05). These findings indicate that “Tongmai songjin yigu” massage therapy is better than traditional massage, but clinical large-sample studies are required.
