ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of Ginkgo-Dipyidamolum on nerve symptom, sign and the nerve conduction velocity of patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN).Methods60 patients with DPN were divided randomly into observation group and control group with 30 patients in each group. Routine therapy was conducted in control group. On the basis of routine therapy as control group, Ginkgo-Dipyidamolum was used by intravenous infusions in observation group for 4 weeks. The symptoms and physical sign of patients, and nerve conduction velocity (NCV) were observed.ResultsAfter treatment, clinical symptoms, signs and NCV in observation group improved and were significantly different from that before treatment ( P<0.01), also significantly different from control group ( P<0.01).ConclusionGinkgo-Dipyidamolum can improve the nerve symptoms and signs of patients with DPN, and enhance NCV.
7.Current situation and prospect on post-surgery assessment of peri-operative gastrointestinal functions.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2011;31(6):727-731
Under the guidance of the concept of fast tract surgery (FTS), peri-operative managements including pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative treatments can be optimized to accelerate the rehabilitation of surgery patients. Post-operative recovery of gastrointestinal functions is one of the key links of FTS, in which Chinese medicine has certain features and advantages over it. Current assessments on post-operative gastrointestinal functions recovery include clinical and laboratory assessments, but there is still no industrial assessment received by all. The current situation of post-surgery assessment of peri-operative gastrointestinal functions was studied in this paper, and the research orientation of this field was analyzed and prospected.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2005;29(4):255-266
The cardiovascular circulation feedback control treatment instrument (CFCTI) is an automatic feedback control treatment system, which has the function of monitoring, alarming, trouble self-diagnosis and testing on the line in the closed loop. The instrument is designed based on the successful clinical experiences and the data are inputted into the computer in real-time through a pressure sensor and A/D card. User interface window is set up for the doctor's choosing different medicine. The orders are outputted to control the dose of medicine through the transfusion system. The response to medicine is updated continually. CFCTI can avoid the man-made errors and the long interval of sampling. Its reliability and accuracy in rescuing the critical patients are much higher than the traditional methods.

A number of clinical practices and studies indicated that areca nuts showed such effects as anthelmintic, food retention removal, qi activation and diuresis, and elimination of wetness and jaundice. Arecoline is the most important pharmacological active ingredient for healthcare from areca plants with a wide influence on human functions. In recent years, a lot of studies have been made on areca nuts and arecoline's pharmacology, physiology and immunity. The article summarizes areca nuts and their active substances.

Objective To evaluate the effect of PTH gene polymorphisms on bone mineral density (BMD) at multiple skeletal sites in normal females. Methods PTH gene phenotype was determined by PCR-RFLP of restriction enzyme Bst BⅠin 596 females aged (46.3?13.7) years (20-80 years),and PCR products with or without enzymolytic site were considered as genotype B or genotype b respectively.BMDs of the anteropesterior spine (AP) and supine lateral spine (Lat) of lumbar vertebrae (L_1-L_4),femoral neck (FN),total hip (T-hip), Ward's triangle (Ward),Trochanter (Troch),forearm [radius+ulna ultradistal (RUUD) and total area of radius + ulna (RUT) ] were measured by DEXA (QDR4500A).Results (1) Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium was evident for PTH polymorphisms. The frequencies of genotype were BB 0.784,Bb 0.208,bb 0.008 and frequencies of alleles B,b were 0.888 and 0.112 respectively in 596 normal females.Frequencies of BB,Bb,bb genotypes were 0.781,0.210,and 0.009 respectively in 347 postmenopausal women and their frequencies of alleles B,b were 0.886,0.114.No significant difference was found between post- and premenopausal women in genotype frequen- cy.(2) Comparing their BMDs of AP,Lat,FN,T-hip,Ward,Troch,RUUD and RUT,there was no significant difference between BB and Bb genotypes of pre- and postmenopansal women groups.(3) Logistic regression analysis failed to show any statistical difference between normal and osteoporosis women with regard to PTH phenotype. Conclusion PTH gene polymorphism has little effect on BMD in normal females.
