2. Combined immunohistochemical staining of 34βE12 and α-methylacyl-coenzyme. A racemase in diagnosis of prostatic carcinoma

Objective: To assess the diagnostic value of combined staining of 34βE12 and α-methylacyl-coenzyme A racemase (34βE12 /AMACR) by comparing it with the values of 34βE12 and AMACR staining separately. Methods: Totally 31 prostate specimens (4 μm thickness), including 18 prostate cancer (PCa) specimens, 10 benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) specimens, and 3 normal prostate specimens, were subjected to 34βE12 and AMACR staining separately and a combined staining of both. The results of the 3 staining methods were compared. Results: The results of 34βE12 single staining and combined staining were negative in all 18 PCa specimens and were positive in all BPH and normal specimens. Single AMACR staining was positive in 88.9% PCa specimens. In the combined staining 94.4% PCa specimens were positively for AMACR. There was an excellent agreement between the AMACR staining profiles in the combined staining and in single AMACR staining. Conclusion: Combined 34βE12/AMACR staining possesses certain diagnostic value for PCa, especially when the sample size is small and the lesions are limited or small.

Objective To research the association of IR and β-cell function with MS in T2DM.Methods 116 T2DM subjects were divided into two groups:MS(n=60)and T2DM(n=56),and FIns,FPG,BP and other items were measured.Results HOMA-IR was significantly higher in MS than in T2DM and control group(P<0.05).HOMA-β was significantly lower in MS than in T2DM and control group(P<0.05).And FPG,waist circumference(WC)in MS group were positively correlated with the IR level(P<0.05).Conclusions The HOMA-IR was highest in T2DM with MS,and HOMA-β was lowest in T2DM with MS

AIM: To observe the effect of Jianpixiaoshi Pill (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Fructus Aurantii Immaturus, Radix Aucklandiae, etc.) METHODS: We conducted the humoral immunity test, intestine peristal sis test, gastric emptying test, gastric analysis test on rat's and mouse's mode ls of splee n weak by oral administration of Rhubarb root lard and cabbag e, respectively. RESULTS: On mice fed on Rhubarb root, Jianpixiaoshi i Pill can effectively potentiate immunity, improve the velocity of stomach and intestine, expedite the advance speed of ink in the small intestine and the velo city of gastric emptying, reduce the residual rate of methyl orange in stomach. On rats fed on lard and cabbage, J ianpixiaoshi Pill can gain mouse's weight improved, increase the total acidity of the gastric juice and the activity of pepsin. CONCLUSION: Jiah pixiaoship Pill has remarkable effect on improvin g the function of intestine and stomach.
5.Surgical treatment of substernal benign thyroid tumor

Purpose:To investigate the type of surgery appropriate for substernal benign thyroid tumor. Methods:A study of 19 substernal benign thyroid tumors operated between 1990 and 1999 was made. Surgery via cervical collar incision were performed in all cases. Results:Among them 4 cases was adenoma, 16 cases goiter. There were no complications except for 1 case with recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis. Conclusions:Surgery via cervical collar incision for substernal benign thyroid tumors is safe.
7.Analysis of Bacteria Distribution and Drug Resistance of Pediatric Severe Sepsis in Our Hospital

OBJECTIVE:To analyze bacteria distribution and drug resistance of pediatric severe sepsis in our hospital,and to provide reference for clinical rational use of antimicrobial agents. METHODS:57 pediatric severe sepsis patients were collected from pediatric intensive care unit of our hospital during Jan. 2014 to May 2015. The results of pathogen culture and drug sensitivity tests were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS:Of 57 children,pathogen were detected in 18 cases(31.58%). A total of 91 pathogen were detected,of which there were 24 strains of Gram-positive(G+)bacteria(26.37%)mainly including Staphylococcus and Entero-coccus,60 strains of Gram-negative (G-) bacteria (65.93%) mainly including Klebsiella pneumoniae and Acinetobacter calco-acetcus-A. baumannii complex and 7 strains of fungus (7.69%) as Candida. 4 strains of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus,22 strains of carbapenems-resistant K. pneumoniae,21 strains of multi-drug resistant K. pneumoniae and 7 strains of multi-drug resistant A. calcoacetcus-A. baumannii complex were all detected. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus,Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococ-cus pneumoniae were sensitive to vancomycin and linezolid,with resistant rate of 0. K. pneumoniae was completely resistant to ampi-cillin sodium and sulbactam sodium,piperacillin sodium and tazobactam sodium,imipenem and cephalosporin,with resistant rate of 100%. Resistant rate of A. calcoacetcus-A. baumannii complex to major common antimicrobial agents was higher than 50%. Esche-richia coli was resistant to cefotaxime,and resistant rates of other antimicrobial agents were lower than 40%. CONCLUSIONS:Main pathogen of pediatric severe sepsis is G- bacteria in our hospital,and carbapenems-resistant K. pneumoniae is detected,to which should be pay attention. The multiple drug-resistant treatment should be adopted for pediatric severe sepsis caused by multiple drug-re-sistant bacteria. Antimicrobial agents should be selected rationally according to pathogen type and the results of drug sensitivity test.
