Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of XELOX chemotherapy combined with Chinese herbal medicines in patients with obstructive colorectal cancer.MethodsA total of 70 patients with obstructive colorectal cancer were recruited and divided into a XELOX treatment group and a combined treatment group, 35 in each group. The XELOX treatment group received XELOX chemotherapy, while the combined treatment group were received XELOX chemotherapy combined with Chinese herbal medicines. All patients received a 3-week treatment as a cycle, and for 4 cycles. The outcomes were Karnofsky performance status (KPS) and the Zubrod-ECOG-WHO Scale (ZPS). Adverse effects were recorded.ResultsAfter the treatment, the clinical symptoms score (1.62 ± 0.21vs. 2.12 ± 0.31;t=7.900,P<0.01) and ZPS score (1.07 ± 0.33 vs. 2.88 ± 0.41;t=20.346,P<0.01) in the combined treatment group were significantly lower than those in the XELOX treatment group, but the KPS score was significantly higher (93.42 ± 5.56vs. 86.43 ± 5.93;t=5.087, P<0.01). The follow-up showed that the 3-year survival rates in the combined treatment group was significantly lower than those in the XELOX treatment group (80.00%vs. 57.14%;χ2=4.242,P=0.039). The incidence of leukopenia (11.43%vs. 34.29%;χ2=3.970,P<0.05), anemia (5.71%vs. 22.86%;χ2=4.200,P<0.05), nausea/vomiting (8.57%vs. 28.57%;χ2=4.629,P<0.05), and diarrhea (2.86%vs. 20.00%;χ2=5.081,P<0.05) in the combined treatment group were significantly lower than those in the XELOX treatment group. Conclusion XELOX chemotherapy combined with Chinese herbal medicines can improve clinical symptoms, performance status, and alleviate adverse effects in patients with obstructive colorectal cancer.

Objective To explore the clinical curative effects of angiotensin Ⅱ 1 receptor blocker in treating primary hypertension and its effects on insulin sensitivity.Methods Eighty primary hypertension patients were divided into the treatment group ( 40 cases,treated with telmisartan ) and the control group (40cases,treated with amlodipine) by random digits table.The treatment period was 8 weeks.After treatment,the clinical curative effect and insulin sensitivity was compared between the two groups.Results In treatment group and control group,the total effective rate was 75.0％(30/40) and 72.5％(29/40),there was no significant difference (P＞ 0.05 ).Before treatment,the insulin sensitivity index ( ISI ) in treatment group and control group was -4.5 ±0.8 and -4.7 ±0.7 (P ＞ 0.05),after treatment,the ISI was -3.2 ±0.5 and -4.4 ±0.6 (P＜0.05).Conclusion The clinical curative effects of angiotensin Ⅱ 1 receptor blocker in treating primary hypertension are obvious,and may improve the insulin sensitivity.

Aim To investigate the effect of 8-bromo-7-methoxychrysin(BrMChR) on apoptosis of human gastric carcinoma SGC-7901 cell line.Methods SGC-7901 cells were cultured and the inhibitory effect of BrMChR on the proliferation of SGC-7901 cell line was measured by MTT assay.The apoptosis of SGC-7901 cells induced by BrMChR was analyzed using flow cytometry (FCM) with PI staining.DNA ladder bands were observed by DNA agarose gel electrophoresis.Results MTT assay suggested that BrMChR markedly inhibited the proliferation of SGC-7901 cells in a concentration-dependent manner,its IC50 was 2.6 ?mol?L-1,the potency of BrMChR was 8 times more than that of lead compound,chrysin (ChR,IC50 was 16.5 ?mol?L-1),and was 3 times more than that of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU,IC50 was 7.7 ?mol?L-1). CAS (Chrome azurol S) assay was a universal method for detecting the bacterial siderophores, and Sugar-Asn liquid medium has been applied to the studies on siderophores from Pieudomonas. In this paper, Asp has been substituted for Asn, and MSA-CAS agar plate was developed by integrating the MSA (sugar-Asp) medium and CAS bright blue dye, which has been used in the universal CAS assay. On the aspect of siderophores detection , 8 strains of 7 species from Pseudomonas had been screened on MSA-CAS agar plates and universal CAS assay respectively. The results showed that MSA-CAS agar was higher-sensitive and lower basic fluorescent than universal CAS assay.

A novel stable blue agar plate which is convenient to preparing and more effective than the universal chrome azurol sulfonate (CAS) assay established by Schwyn and Neilands was designed by replacing MM9 growth medium and pipes with certain concentrate of phosphorus buffer solution which pH could be stabled at 6.8. Cell viability of Pichia pastoris was detected by flow cytometry (FCM) with two reagents fluorescein diacetate (FDA) and propidium iodide (PI). Compared with FDA/PI double-stained dot plots and PI single-stained dot plots,the latter could divide dead and living cells into two separate zones,and get the correct proportion. Then PI single-stained method was used to detect the change of cell viability in Pichia patoris fermentation. At glycerol batch and fed-batch phase,little dead cells were detected. At methanol fed-batch phase,cell viability decreased when cell weight increased,and was only 73.8% at 88 h.
