Objective To observe the dynamic changes and the effects of Captopril on interstitial fibrosis in lung tissue of neonatal rats with lung fibrosis induced by hyperoxia. Methods Two hundred and forty neonatal Wistar rats were randomly assigned into model group, air control group, normal saline control and Captopril-trcated group (n=60 each). The air control group was exposed to room air (FiO2 = 0.21), and the rest three groups were continuously exposed to hyperoxia (FiO2 = 0.9) for 21 days. During the exposure, the Captopril-treated group received Captopril [ 30 mg/( kg·d) ] by intragastric administration, and the normal saline control group was administrated with normal saline instead, the model group did not receive any treatment. On the 1 st, 3 rd, 7 th, 14 th and 21 st day of exposure, the subjects were sacrificed. And then, the protein levels of collagen Ⅲ (Co-Ⅲ ) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and angiotensin Ⅱ(Ang Ⅱ )by radio-immunity technique, and the mRNA expression of Ang Ⅱ, Co- Ⅲ was measured by RT-polymerase chain reaction. The changes of lung histomorphology were observed. Results On the 14 th day, The Ang Ⅱ, Co- Ⅲ protein levels and their mRNA expression of modal group and normal saline control group increased significantly as compared to the air control group ( P < 0.05 ), except the Ang Ⅱ mRNA expression of normal saline control group. The Ang Ⅱ and Co-Ⅲ protein levels of model group was (838.22 ± 197.75 ) and ( 104.21 ± 43.37) ng/mg respectively, and normal saline control group was ( 759.97 ± 60.81 ) and ( 128.69 ± 54.74) ng/mg respectively on the 21 st day, their mRNA expression of two groups also increased to the peak on the 21 st day(P< 0.05).The AnglI and Co- Ⅲ protein levels of Captopril-treated group was (554.52 ± 59.32) and (39.90 ± 13.45) ng/mg on the 21 st day respectively, their mRNA expression was (1.50 ± 0.84 ) and (1.13 ± 0.55) respectively, and decreased significantly as compared to the model group and normal saline control group respectively (P<0.05), but increased significantly as campared to the air control group (P < 0.05). The histopathological examination demonstrated different degrees of alveolitis, broaden interstitium and reduced alveolar quantity in the model group and normal saline control group compared with air control group. The pathological changes were markedly alleviated in the Captopril-treated group. Conclusion Captopril may have protective effects on lung injury induced by hyperoxia.

The treatment of vascular malformations has been a difficult clinical subject. At present, the main therapeutic methods include embolization/sclerotherapy, surgical excision, laser treatment, etc. However, it is often difficult to obtain a satisfactory clinical effect. As it can induce the vascular endothelial denudation resulting in protein degeneration, ethanol embolization can obtain the effect of complete obliteration of the diseased vascular lumen. Although ethanol embolization of vascular malformations has already achieved satisfactory clinical effect, the fear of cardiac and pulmonary accidents has limited the application of this technique in clinical practice. This paper aims to make a comprehensive review concerning the effect of ethanol embolization for vascular malformations on the cardiopulmonary functions.

The incidence of vascular malformations is very low, and its clinical manifestations are infinite in variety, from an asymptomatic birthmark to life-threatening massive bleeding, even to congestive heart failure. The pathogenesis of vascular malformations is still unknown, therefore, its effective treatment is a real challenge. With the development of interventional technology and the accumulation of clinical experience in ethanol embolization, in local direct puncture injection and in endovascular embolization, the ethanol embolization will hopefully become the therapy of first choice for this kind of complicate and intractable disorders.

Aim Drug repositioning is to find new indications for existing drugs, however, potential drug-disease relationships are often hidden in millions of unknown relationship. With the analyzing of medical big data,we predict the potential drug-dis-ease relationships. Methods Based on the assumption that similar drugs tend to have similar indications,we applied a rec-ommendation-based strategy to drug repositioning.First,we col-lected the information of known drug-disease therapeutic effect, side effect, drug characters and disease characters;second,we calculated the drug-drug similarity measurements and disease-disease similarity measurements;last,we used a collaborative filtering (CF)method to predict unknown drug-disease relation-ships based on the known drug-disease relationships by integra-ting the similarity measurements, and built a ranking list of pre-diction results. Results The experiments demonstrated that a-mong the TOP 500 of the list,1 2.8% were supported by clinical experiments or review, and 20% were supported by model or-ganism or cell experiments. Conclusion Compared to the clas-sification model and random sampling results, the CF model can effectively reduce the false positives.

Objective To report our experience in the embolization of the high-flow vascular lesion in the head and neck by direct percutaneous puncture. Methods Eleven cases of high-flow vascular lesion in the head and neck (8 cases of central hemangioma of the jaws and 3 cases of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma) were included in this study group. The patients of central hemangioma of the jaws were embolized with coils by a 14-gauge needle, and the fibered coils were placed directly into the center of the intraosseous AVM. The patients of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma were embolized with NBCA by a No.7 needle. The procedure was under the guidance of DSA machine (Philips V3000). Results The acute arterial bleeding in patients with central hemangioma of the jaws from the extraction of the tooth was controllable, and the pericoronal oozing of bleed disappeared in the 9-24 months follow-up. The juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas were resected without blood transfusion after the embolization. Conclusion The embolization of the high-flow vascular lesion in the head and neck by direct percutaneous puncture was effective and safe, however the longer follow-up was expected.

Objective To evaluate MR findings and clinical features in patients with spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH). Methods Eight patients (5 men, 3 women; aged 16-50 years ) with SSEH underwent MR imaging during 1994-2001, including 7 cases without history of trauma or coagulation disorders and 1 case with history of hypertension. MR imaging was performed from 4 hours to 3 days after the onset of symptoms in all 8 patients with surgical and pathologic diagnosis. Results The hematomas were in lateral posterior or posterior epidural space, including 3 cases in cervical vertebra, 2 cases in thoracic vertebra, 2 cases in cervical and thoracic junction region, and 1 case in thoracic and lumbar part. The MRI confirmed an encapsulated hematoma caused by arteriovenous malformation in 1 case and two hematomas associated with disc herniation. The signal intensity of the hematoma varied with the hematoma age, but T 1-weighted images reflected its typical signal changes. Sagittal and coronal T 1- weighted images revealed isointense (7 cases) and slight high-intense (1 case) signal; Sagittal and axial T 2-weighted images revealed mixed-intensity (6 cases) and mixed high-intensity (2 cases). Conclusion MR imaging has an important value on localization, identification, and differential diagnosis of the lesion, therefore, it is the most helpful diagnostic tool for this condition.

Objective To study the value of using endoscopy iodine staining combined detecting the expression of p53, survivin and telomerase in the diagnosis of early esophageal carcinoma and precancerous lesions. Methods Three hundred patients who received routine gastrescopy and had high risk of esophageal carcinoma were examined by the iodine dyeing on their esophageal mucosa with 2. 5% Lugol solu-tion. Multiple biopsies were taken from the unstained or light-stained areas when their diameters were over 5mm for pathology diagnosis. The expression of p53, survivin and telomerase were detected by immunohistochemical staining. Results With the Lugol staining method, the incidences of light, moderate and high grade dysplasia and early esophageal carcinoma were 16. 3% ,9. 7% ,3.7% and 4. 3% respectively. The expression of p53, survivin and telomerase were related and the unstained were related to the expression of p53, survivin and telomerase in dysplasia and early esophageal carcinoma. Using endoscopy iodine staining combined testing p53, survivin and telomerase showed sensitiv-ity of 100%, specificity of 92. 3% and accuracy of 91.8% to diagnose of early esophageal carcinoma and high grade dysplasia. Conclusion Lugol solution chromoendscopy combined assay of p53, survivin and telomersse might be useful in the diagnosing early esophageal carcino-ma and precancerous lesion.

Objective To investigate the causes and time distribution of trauma in prehospital patients. Methods The data of 2 055 trauma patients of our department admitted from January 2003 to March 2005 were analyzed. Results ① The mortality was 1.9%. ②723 patients (35.2%) were common trauma, and 32 had falling injuries (4.4%) with 18 dead including 12 at scene and 6 in emergency room. ③1 332 were Traffic accidents (64.8%) including 13 dead associated with bike , electric bicycle and motorbike. At the same time, there were 566 patients from 18:00 to 24:00 including 298 patients(52.7%) for the drivers after drinking. Conclusion Falling injuries and traffic accidents were the most important cause for death, especially in building spot . So we should enhance the security education for workers in these companies and limit the speed of electric bicycle for the increasing injury and mortality in traffic accidents . Driving after drinking at night should be prohibited too.
