Purpose:To investigate the therapeutic effect a nd toxicity of radiotherapy plus ultrasound hyperthermia for treatment of malign ant tumors. Methods:41 cases of locally advanced, recurrent or radioresista nt cancer treated from January 1997 to January 2000 were given radiotherapy plus Sonotherm 1000 ultrasound hyperthermia. The mean radiation dose was 61?12 Gy;h yperthermia was administered within 30 minutes following radiotherapy with mean heating time of (52.4?6) minutes at 1-2 times/week. 3-year local control and survival were estimated by Kaplan-Meier method and Log rank test, factors affec ting prognosis were analyzed by Cox regression. The significance of differences between temperatures was tested by one-way ANOVA. Results:There was significant difference between Tmin and Tmax on tumor local response. Tumor complete response was 58.5%, the 3-year local co ntrol and survival were 13.6%% and 32.69% respectively. OBJECTIVE:To explore the effects of alendronate sodium on bone mineral density (BMD) and bone marker in prostate cancer elderly patients after medical castration therapy. METHODS:In perspective study,84 elderly patients undergoing medical castration therapy were selected and divided into treatment group(45 cases)and control group(39 cases)according to ran-dom number table. Control group received medical castration therapy+Calcium carbonate D3 tablets,1 tablet,po,qn;treatment group was additionally given Alendronate sodium tablets 70 mg,po,once a week,1 week after routine treatment,on the basis of control group. Treatment course of 2 groups lasted for 12 months. The levels of 25-OH-D,testosterone,BMD and bone marker were observed in 2 groups, and the occurrence of ADR was recorded. RESULTS:3 cases of treatment group and 1 case of control group dropped out of the study. Before treatment, there was no statistical significance in above indexes between 2 groups (P>0.05). After treatment,25-OH-D levels of 2 groups were increased slightly, but there was no statistical significance(P>0.05);tes-tosterone level of 2 groups were decreased significantly compared to before treatment, with statistical significance (P<0.05). 12 months after treatment,BMD of lumbar vertebra, collum femoris and hip were increased significantly in treatment group, while those were decreased significantly in control group;there was statistical significance in above indexes between 2 groups(P<0.05). The levels of N-terminal midfragment of osteocalcin, procollagen Ⅰ N-terminal propeptide and β-crosslaps were decreased signifi-cantly in treatment group, while those were increased significantly in control group;there was statistical significance in above in-dexes between 2 groups (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADR between 2 groups(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Alendronate sodium can prevent bone loss and reduce the rate of bone turnover in elderly patients with prostate cancer receiving medical castration therapy.

Objective To study the value of hysteroscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility caused by intrauterine lesions. Methods Hysteroscopic examinations and operations were performed in 82 cases of infertility caused by intrauterine lesions. Results No abnormal findings were found in 4 cases, while the other 78 cases of intrauterine abnormity comprised 23 cases of endometrial polyp, 29 cases of adhesive uteritis,18 cases of submucous myoma or adenomyosis, and 6 cases of uterine deformity. After hysteroscopic surgery and related treatment, the postoperative pregnancy rate reached 62 32% (43 of 69). Conclusions Hysteroscopy may be effectively used in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility caused by intrauterine factors.

OBJECTIVETo explore the impacts on EC50 in the remifentanil inhibition of tracheal intubation response by the transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) at Hegu (LI 4) and Neiguan (PC 6).
METHODSForty patients with selective surgery undergoing endotracheal intubation with intravenous general anesthesia were divided into I to II degree by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 20 cases in each one. Before general anesthesia induction, in the observation group, the transcutaneous electric stimulation was applied to bilateral Hegu (LI 4) and Neiguan (PC 6) for 30 min, with dense-disperse wave, 2 Hz/100 Hz in frequency; in the control group, the sham-stimulation was applied to the acupoints, with the lamp on, but without electric current output. Afterwards, the general anesthesia induction started. When the target concentration of propofol and remifentanil was stabilized at the preset value, the endotracheal intubation was conducted. Dixon sequential method was applied for the determination of ECs in remifentanil inhibition of tracheal intubation response.
RESULTSThe level of EC50 in remifentanil inhibition of tracheal intubation response was 3. 46 ng/mL, 95% confidence interval was 2. 80 ng/ml to 4. 27ng/mL in the observation group; those were 4. 18 ng/mL and 3. 30 ng/mL to 5. 29 ng/mL in the control group separately. The differences were significant in comparison of the two groups (P<0. 01).
CONCLUSIONTEAS apparently reduces EChe in the remifentanil inhibition of tracheal intubation response by around 17%as.

Objective To evaluate risk factors of hepatectomy for patients with large hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods Clinical data of 310 large HCC cases receiving hepatctomy were analyzed retrospectively. Results Hepatitis B infection rate was 60.7% in this group with cirrhosis rate of 66.8%. Tumor size averaged at (9.4?3.8) cm in diameter. Child A grade was found in 51.0% of cases, Child B in 36.8% and Child C in 12.3%. Pringle′s procedure, semi-liver blood occlusion and modified Heaney procedure were used in 31.6%, 11.0% and 2.3% of cases respectively, with occlusion time of ( 17?8) min, (25?9) min and (20?10) min, respectively. Left lateral lobectomy, left hemihepatectomy, right hemihepatectomy and segmentectomy were performed in 17.1%, 11.6%, 9.0%, and 62.3% cases, respectively. Blood loss, blood transfusion and operation duration were (820?1 151) ml, (966?945) ml and (182?74) min, respectively. The overall morbidity and liver failure were 22.3%, and 5.8%, respectively, with an operative mortality of 2.6%. The univariate analysis for liver failure revealed its risk factors being preoperative AST value(P

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(02):-
AIM: To investigate the homing effect of immature dendritic cells (iDC) after injection of iDC into the mouse hepatoma treated by microwave ablation and the possibility of stimulating tumor immunity after thermal ablation. METHODS: The model of hepatoma was established with Hepa 1-6 cells injected into the subcutaneous tissue of C57BL/6J mice. The tumors were treated by microwave ablation under different temperatures, and then fluorescent-labeled iDCs (PKH26-DC) were injected into the ablated tumor tissues. The influences of ablation to homing of PKH26-DC, maturation and excitation ability towards T-cell were observed. RESULTS: There were no homing PKH26-DCs and expression of CCR7 in draining lymph nodes in (65?5)℃ and (90?5)℃ ablation groups after intratumoral injection of iDCs. The number of homing PKH26-DCs was 32?8 in (50?5)℃ ablation group vs 21?6 in un-ablated group, and the expression rate of CCR7 was 100% vs 90%. The number of clusters with immunological synapsis was 8-12 in (50?5)℃ ablation group vs 4-6 in un-ablated group under 100-magnification visual field, and the number of lymphocytes in each cluster was 12-25 vs 3-10. CONCLUSION: Thermal ablation of hepatoma under an appropriate temperature level may promote maturing and homing of iDCs and stimulate immunity of lymphocytes.
