Objective To observe the effects of rat tetramethylpyrazine (TMP)-containing serum on the proliferation of human liver cancer cells Hep G2. Methods Thirty SD male rats were divided into three groups randomly and the serum was collected after ip TMP with the dosage of 143.0, 71.5 mg/kg or NS 0.8 mL to prepare the TMP-containing serum in large- and small-dose groups and NS group as well. A reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method was used to determine the TMP concentration in rat serum. Human liver cancer cells Hep G2 was treated with rat TMP-containing serum for 48 h. Inhibition of the TMP-containing serum on proliferation of Hep G2 was detected by MTT assay. Objective To study the distribution and changes of the purulent meningitis in gender,age,region,season and pathogens in children during the past 20 years.Methods All the basic clirical features of purulent meningitis patients less than 17 years old in Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from Jan.1993 to Jan.2013 were analyzed retrospectively.A total of 1 855 patients were divided into 2 groups according to their date of admission.Group A included 666 patients admitted from Jan.1993 to Dec.2002,and group B included 1 189 cases admitted from Jan.2003 to Jan.2013.Then,they were divided into 5 groups according to their ages,including neonate group,＞ 1 month-1 year old aoup,＞ 1-3 years old group,＞ 3-10 years old group,＞ 10-17 years old group.Results Of the 1 855 cases,there were 1 054 cases (56.82％) admitted in the spring and summer,and 1 123 cases (60.54％) were younger than 1 year of age.The ratio of male to female cases was 1.82 to 1.00 and that of country patients to urban patients was 1.40 to 1.00.The distributions were female patients (443 cases,37.26％),urban patients (517 cases,43.48％),and the ratio of patients admitted in the autumn (265 cases,22.29％) and patients younger than 1 year of age (606 cases,50.97％) in group B,which were significantly higher than those [215 cases (32.28％),256 cases (38.44％),102 cases (15.32％),272 cases (40.84％)] of group A (x2 =4.62,4.47,25.51,25.52,all P ＜ 0.05).The predominant isolated bacteria from cerebrospinal fluid were coagulase negative staphylococcus (43/196 cases,21.94％),Streptococcus pneumoniae (32/196 cases,16.33％),Neisseria meningitidis (17/196 cases,8.67％) and Escherichia coli (15/196 cases,7.65％).Coagulase negative staphylococcus and Escherichia coli both accounted for higher rates of pathogenic bacteria in 1 year old than that of pathogenic bacteria more than 1 year old (x2 =4.57,14.37,all P ＜ 0.05),while Streptococcus pneumoniae and Neisseria meningitidis both had higher rates of pathogenic bacteria more than 1 year old and more than 3 years old,respectively (x2 =14.93,19.76,all P ＜ 0.05).Onfly cases in group B with Streptococcus pneumoniae were higher than those in group A (x2 =11.78,P ＜ 0.05),while the other common bacteria in each age group were of no difference between group A and group B.Conclusions There had been some changes in the epidemiological distribution of purulent meningitis during the past 20 years.The main risk factors were male in gender,patients in rural areas,onset in the spring or summer and infants in early age.The predominant isolated bacteria from cerebrospinal fluid were some opportunistic pathogens,including coagulase negative staphylococcus,Streptococcus pneumoniae,and Escherichia coli.Streptococcus pneumoniae meningitis was increased during the past 10 years.

Objective To investigate the effect of combined prism lenses for the treatment of juvenile myopes. Methods 622 cases of juvenile myopes ranging from - 1. 0D to - 5. 0D, aging from 6 - 18ages, were divided randomly into two groups. The control group(320 cases) wear general glass and the research group(302 cases) wear combined prism lenses. The juvenile myopes of both groups were checked their vision every 6 months and data were collected at the end of the fourth 6 months and analyzed by SPSS software. Results Ther eyes of increasing diopter in research group were 38(6.3%of all eyes) ,33 eyes were less than 1. 0D and 5 eyes were more than 1. 0D among them;but 294(46.0% of all eyes) in the control,201 eyes were less than 1.0D and 93 eyes were more than 1.0D among them. There were significant differences between two groups(P＜0.01). Conclusion Combined prism lenses for juvenile myopes (lower and middle) .compared with the common glass, had good clinical effect and it was a reliable and practicable method,to wear combined prism lenses for the treatment of juvenile myopes.

Objective To reconstitute hair follicles in mice using graft chambers,and to study the effect of different cell types on hair follicle regeneration.Methods Full-thickness skin was obtained from the back of C57BL/6 neonatal mice.Then,epidermal cell suspensions were prepared by shredding epidermis after trypsinization,hair follicles and dermal cells were collected by filtration,low-speed centrifugation and density gradient centrifugation,and hair follicle epithelial cells were obtained via trypsinization of hair follicles followed by filtration.Nude mice were classified into four groups to be transplanted with epidermal cells + follicular buds,dermal cells alone,epidermal cells + follicular buds + dermal cells,follicular epithelial cells + dermal cells,respectively.The cells were implanted into the dorsal skin of nude mice using fold chambers.After the grafting,the growth of skin and hairs was observed at the grafted sites on week 1,2,4 and 8,and skin specimens were obtained on week 2,4,and 8 for histological study of hair follicles using hematoxylin-eosin staining.Results After grafting,the chambers on the back of nude mice began to shed with crust formation on week 1; stunted hairs came out and follicle-like structures were seen under the microscope on week 2 at the grafted sites,normal hairs were observed on week 4 and 8 in all the mice except for those transplanted with epidermal cells + follicular buds,and the growth of hairs in mice grafted with epidermal cells + follicular buds + dermal cells and mice grafted with follicular epithelial cells +dermal cells was superior to that in mice grafted with dermal cells alone.Conclusions Hair follicles can regenerate after hair follicle cell transplantation into dorsal chambers in nude mice.Both epidermal cells and dermal cells play indispensable roles in hair follicle reconstitution.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects and mechanism of rosuvastatin on the expression of tissue factor in cultured human monocyte-macrophages cells which was induced by oxidized low density lipoprotein(ox-LDL).MethodsThe human monocyte-macrophages cells were divided into four groups:control group,ox-LDL group,Poly-inosine monophosphate (Poly Ⅰ) group,rosuvastatin group.The expression of LOX-1mRNA and TF mRNA was assayed by RT-PCR.The ELISA was performed to determine the protein concentration of TF.ResultsCompared with control group,the expression of LOX-1 mRNA and TF mRNA was increased in the ox-LDL group[ (3.25156±0.15772) vs (1±0) ; (2.522451±0.138967) vs (1±0) ],and it was in a concentration-dependent manner (P＜0.01).Compared with the expression of LOX-1 mRNA in the Poly-inosine monophosphate group and rosuvastatin group,TF mRNA were decreased in the ox-LDL group[ (2.95139±0.157253) vs(3.25156±0.15772) ; (2.877343±0.156558) vs(3.25156±0.15772) ; (1.811956±0.169699) vs (2.522451±0.138967) ; (1.687701±0.174647) vs (2.522451±0.138967)],and it was in a concentration-dependent manner(P＜0.05).Compared with control group,the expression of TF in the ox-LDL group was increased [(207.7233±1.154701) vs (184.8467±0.871799) ],and it was in a concentration-dependent manner (P＜0.01).Compared with the Poly-inosine monophosphate group and rosuvastatin group [(197.8733±1.505003) vs (207.7233±1.154701) ;(202.9567±2.722744)vs(207.7233±1.154701) ],the expression of TF in the ox-LDL group were decreased,and it was in a concentration-dependent manner (P＜0.05).ConclusionsLOX-1 may be responsible for the expression of TF in human monocyte-macrophages cells induced by ox-LDL.Rosuvastatin is able to down-regulate the expression of LOX-1mRNA in human monocyte-macrophages cells through oxLDL,and TF mRNA and TF expression can be reduced.

Objective To study the expression and signficance of the osteopontin (OPN) in epithelial ovarian cancer tissue and serum. Methods Immunohistochemistry method and ELISA were used to detect the expression of OPN in 64 cases of epithelial ovarian cancer tissue and serum, 20 cases of ovarian benign tumors and 10 cases of ovarian nomal tissues. Results The OPN expression was associated with the clinical staging and histological grading of epithelial ovarian cancer tissue and serum (P < 0.01). The level of OPN in epithelial ovarian cancer tissue was significantly higher than that in benign ovarian tumor and normal control groups (P < 0.01). Conclusion OPN is remarkably correlated with the carcinogenesis and the development of epithelial ovarian cancer.

Object To analyze the rDNA ITS sequences between wi ld plants and cultivars of Trapa L. and study the utility in p hylogenesis and identification of these two groups. Methods The ITS gene fragments were PCR amplified and sequenced. The rDNA ITS regions w ere analyzed by means of the software of Clustal and Mega 2.0. Result s The rDNA sequences of 234-236 bp ITS1, 220-221 bp ITS2 gene fragment , and 5.8 S rDNA for 164 bp evenly were obtained from ten populations of Trapa L. The intraspecific substitution varies from 0.22% to 2. 94%. The variable sites are 16 while informative sites are six. The phylogenet ic tree based on ITS data was set up by NJ method. Conclusion ITS sequence is a pretty good molecular marker which can identify wild plants of Trapa L. from their cultivars. Diversity of ITS in differen t populations is less at intraspecific level. It is infered that the plants of Trapa L. may be derived from the same population of one species .

Objective To explore the vitamin D nutritional status of urban residents in Jinan,in order to provide the basis for the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases associated with vitamin D insufficiency.Methods 1478 cases aged 30-90 years,including 602 men (59.8± 13.0) years on average and 876 women (57.4±12.9) years on average were selected by a stratified random sampling from 3 community medical care institutions in Jinan.Subjects were divided into six groups according to the 10-year interval.Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH) D] level was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Serum [25(OH) D] level ≥ 75 nmol/L was defined as vitamin D sufficient,(50.0 ～ 74.9) nmol/L as vitamin D critical value,25.0 ～ 49.9 nmol/L as vitamin D insufficiency,＜ 25 nmol/L as vitamin D deficiency.All data processing and statistical analysis were finished by SPSS 13.0.Results The average level of [25 (OH) D] was 58.60 nmol/L in males [95％ CI:56.7-60.5 nmol/L] and 54.17 nmol/L in females [95％ CI:52.8-55.8 nmol/L],which were less than 75 nmol/L.The average level of [[25(OH) D] was 49.1nmol/L in females aged 70-79 years (95％CI:45.7～52.5 nmol/L),41.7 nmol/L in females aged 80-90 years (95％CI:38.2 ～46.7 nmol/L),which were less than 50 nmol/L.The percentage of cases with vitamin D deficiency,insufficiency,critical value,and sufficiency was 5.6％,33.4％,36.5％,24.4％ in males,and 6.5％,42.9％,32.6％,18.1％ in female respectively.The incidence of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency was increased with ageing (male:x2 =33.68 P＜0.01,female:x2 =55.7,P＜0.001).The percentage of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency was more in females than in males (60-69 years old:x2=9.387,P＜0.05,80-90 years old:x2=8.896,P＜0.05).The [25 (OH) D] level was lowest in winter (48.8 nmol/L,95％CI:46.8～50.9 nmol/L) and highest in autumn (60.2 nmol/L,95％ CI:58.0～62.3 nmol/L).The incidence of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency was highest in winter (x2 =18.364,P＜0.05).Conclusions Vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency are widely prevalent in urban residents,which is more severe in the elderly and females.Serum [25(OH) D] level is related to season,and the vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency are severe in winter.

ObjectiveTo Investigate the state and needs of disabled veterans and support centre in our country, and explore the factors related with quality of life. Methods328 disabled veterans of 6 veterans' support centre were surveyed with questionaire or interview. Results and ConclusionThe overall psychological states of the disabled veterans are unacceptable, dysthymia, anxiety, loneliness, insomnia are the most common among them. The unreasonable disposition of aids tend to decreases their quality of life.
