Aim To observe the protective effect of pentoxifylline on myocardium injury induced by ischemia-reperfusion.Methods Heart ischemia-reperfusion model was induced in the isolated rat hearts subjected to 30 min ischemia and 30 min reperfusion.70 Wistar rats were divided randomly into seven groups: control group,ischemia-reperfusion group, four dose pentoxifylline treatment groups(50,100,125,150 ?mol?L-1) and post ischemia pentoxifylline treatment group. The intracellular Ca2+-overload was induced in the isolated rat hearts subjected to 5 min Ca2+-depletion and 30 min Ca2+-repletion(Ca2+-paradox).30 Wistar rats were divided randomly into three groups(control group,Ca2+-paradox group and pentoxifylline treatment group).Hemodynamics data were recorded. Results Reperfusion of the ischemic heart resulted in impaired cardiac performance. These alterations in cardiac function were attenuated by treatment of the heart with 100 ?mol?L-1 pentoxifylline(P

Objective To evaluate ultrasound-guided percutaneous ablation for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods In this study, 141 patients with recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (628 lesions) were treated by percutaneous ablation therapies, including microwave, radiofrequency, ethanol injection and hot distilled water ablation. Results The complete ablation rate was 92.0% (578/628) in this group, and was 96.3% ( 105/109 )? 92.9%(119/128)? 91.5% (311/340) and 84.3% (43/51), respectively, for microwave, radiofrequency, ethanol and hot distilled water ablation subgroups. The local recurrence rate was 13.5% ( 78/578 ), and was 11.4% (12/105)? 13.4% (16/119)? 11.9% (37/311) and 30.2% (13/43), respectively, for microwave, radiofrequency, ethanol and hot distilled water ablation subgroups. After a follow-up period of 2-66 months, liver function remained unchanged in 117 patients (81%) after ablation therapies.Patients were followed-up for 2-66 months, the 1, 3 and 5-year survival rate was 75%, 53% and 26%, respectively. Conclusion Ultrasound-guided percutaneous ablation therapies for recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma are safe and effective, while incuring minimal damage to liver function and improving long-term survival.
3.Trends and associated factors in tuberculosis knowledge and behavior among freshmen from Jiangsu Province, 2019-2022
Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(8):1120-1125
Objective:
To understand the trends and associated factors of tuberculosis knowledge and behavior among freshmen from Jiangsu Province, 2019 to 2022, so as to provide theoretical support for the popularization of tuberculosis knowledge and the prevention and control of tuberculosis in universities.
Methods:
From 2019 to 2022, a total of 33 944 freshmen from 20 universities in Jiangsu Province were selected by stratified random sampling, and tuberculosis knowledge and behavior were surveyed online using a selfdesigned questionnaire. Oneway variance trend test and multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the trend of knowledge and behavior levels, and a multiple linear regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors.
Results:
The overall awareness rate of tuberculosis among freshmen from Jiangsu Province was 90.6%, and the overall awareness rates from 2019 to 2022 were 88.4%, 90.4%, 91.7%, and 91.8%, respectively. The overall behavioral accuracy rate was 92.3%, with the annual rates from 2019 to 2022 being 91.8%, 92.3%, 92.7%, and 92.4%, respectively. Both the awareness rate and accuracy behavior rate increased annually (F=216.67, 11.75, P<0.01). The multiple linear regression analysis showed that school type, ethnicity, fathers educational level, mothers educational level, mothers occupation, family per capita monthly income, and living arrangement in high school affected both personal knowledge awareness rate and personal behavioral accuracy rate (β=-0.047-0.035, P<0.01), while region, gender, family residence, and being an only child only affected behavioral accuracy rate (β=-0.003-0.032, P<0.05).
Conclusions
The tuberculosis knowledge and behavior levels of freshmen from Jiangsu Province have been increasing by year. Targeted health education should be carried out based on the relevant influencing factors to further enhance the tuberculosis prevention and control literacy.

Parthenogenetic embryos, created by activation and diploidization of oocytes, arrest at mid-gestation for defective paternal imprints, which impair placental development. Also, viable offspring has not been obtained without genetic manipulation from parthenogenetic embryonic stem cells (pESCs) derived from parthenogenetic embryos, presumably attributable to their aberrant imprinting. We show that an unlimited number of oocytes can be derived from pESCs and produce healthy offspring. Moreover, normal expression of imprinted genes is found in the germ cells and the mice. pESCs exhibited imprinting consistent with exclusively maternal lineage, and higher X-chromosome activation compared to female ESCs derived from the same mouse genetic background. pESCs differentiated into primordial germ cell-like cells (PGCLCs) and formed oocytes following in vivo transplantation into kidney capsule that produced fertile pups and reconstituted ovarian endocrine function. The transcriptome and methylation of imprinted and X-linked genes in pESC-PGCLCs closely resembled those of in vivo produced PGCs, consistent with efficient reprogramming of methylation and genomic imprinting. These results demonstrate that amplification of germ cells through parthenogenesis faithfully maintains maternal imprinting, offering a promising route for deriving functional oocytes and having potential in rebuilding ovarian endocrine function.
