BACKGROUND: Multiwaled carbon nanotubes can accelerate the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts, and exert a therapeutic effect on steroid-induced necrosis of femoral head (SNFH). OBJECTIVE:To investigate the function of multiwaled carbon nanotubes in the establishment of a rabbit model of SNFH. METHODS:Thirty-six New Zealand white rabbits were divided randomly into three groups. In treatment group, 16 rabbits were given intraglutealy injection of dexamethasone (2.5 mg/kg) every day and injection of 1 mL liquor of multiwaled carbon nanotubes (0.1 g/L) into the bilateral femur medulary space every week. In model group, 16 rabbits were given intraglutealy injection of dexamethasone (2.5 mg/kg) every day and injection of 1 mL normal saline into the bilateral femur medulary space every week. In control group, four rabbits were given intraglutealy injection of 2 mL normal saline every day and injection of 1 mL normal saline into the bilateral femur medulary space every week. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Four weeks after hormone injection, the trabeculae began to exhibit a smal amount of thinner fractures, an accumulation of fatty tissue in the bone marrow were obvious, bone marrow fat cels became bigger and microvascular thrombosis appeared in the model group, while there was no positive histopathological manifestation in the treatment group. This indicates that the multiwaled carbon nanotubes can extenuate pathological damage to the femoral head to a certain extent.

To screen the illegal substances in fishery inputs,we established the database including the precursor and the daughter ions for these possible components by the quadrupole/orbit-trap mass spectrometer, and the retention time of each drug on the same chromatographic column. And then, the extracted and diluted samples were analyzed and the components in the real samples were identified under the same conditions.Chromatographic analysis was performed on an Accucore RP-MS column (100 mm × 2.1 mm,2.6 μm) using gradient elution with 0.1% formic acid in water and 0.1% formic acid in acetonitrile as mobile phase.Elutes were ionized through heatable electrospray ionization (HESI) in both positive and negative mode simultaneously.Data acquisition was conducted by Full-scan ddMS2 (TopN) mode,in which the full mass profile for a continuous precursor ion injection and the fragments of each high abundant precursor of targeted were acquired with excellent time and mass resolution.Screening was carried out through comparison of the information of real samples with that of standards in the database, which were processed by software (Tracefinder). The Quantification of each component was analyzed based on the precursor ion chromatography acquired by orbit-trap mass spectroscopy, which showed a good linearity between 0.01-1 μg/mL,with R>0.98.The method was validated by checking its minimum screening concentration (0.5 mg/L for drugs and 5 mg/L for feedstuffs) and evaluating the recovery after addition of the standard mixture in real samples (>50%,under the addition of 10 and 100 mg/kg).The results for 68 practical samples demonstrated the effective performance of this method for screening with high-throughput,rapidness and acceptable minimum screening concentration and accuracy,in which 15 of 29 fishery drug samples were screened out for positive components that were not indicated in their labels.

OBJECTIVETo identify whether there is significant changes between the cervical neutral F-waves and cervical flexion F-waves in the patients with Hirayama disease.
METHODSThis study was performed on 25 normal subjects and 22 male patients with identified Hirayama disease (age: 15 to 44 years; height: 165 to 183 cm; duration: 6 to 240 months) between May 2010 and March 2014. Both cervical flexion F-wave (cervical flexion 45 °, 30 minutes) and conventional F-waves to median nerve stimulation and to ulnar nerve stimulation were performed in all subjects bilaterally.
RESULTSwere analyzed by t-test or Fisher exact probability.
RESULTSIn the normal subjects, all measurements of the bilateral F-waves didn't have any difference between the cervical flexion position and the cervical neutral position. On the cervical neutral position, the persistence (t = 5.209, P = 0.000), average latencies (t = 4.731, P = 0.022) and minimal latencies (t = 23.843, P = 0.006) of ulnar F-wave on the symptomatic heavier side from the patients with identified Hirayama disease were significantly lower or longer than those from the normal subjects, and the repeat F-waves were found in 3 patients (13.6%). On the symptomatic lighter side, the ulnar F-waves only had lower persistence (t = 22.306, P = 0.001) along with 5 repeat F-waves. Only lower persistence were found in the median F-wave on the both side (higher side t = 23.696, P = 0.000; lighter side t = 23.998, P = 0.000), along with 5 (22.7%) repeat F-waves on the symptomatic heavier side and 6 (27.3%) ones on the symptomatic lighter side. After cervical flexion maintaining 30 minutes, the increased maximal amplitudes (t = -2.552, P = 0.019), average amplitudes (t = -3.322, P = 0.003), duration (t = -3.323, P = 0.00), persistence (t = -2.604, P = 0.017) and frequency of repeat F-waves (9/22, 41%) (P = 0.044) were found on the symptomatic heavier side of ulnar F-wave, and 5 of 10 absent ulnar F-wave on the cervical neutral position were also recover. The median F-wave on the symptomatic heavier side mainly had increased maximal amplitude (t = -3.847, P = 0.001), average amplitudes (t = -2.188, P = 0.040) and persistence (t = -2.421, P = 0.025), and 1 of 6 absent median F-wave on the cervical neutral position were also recover after cervical flexion.
CONCLUSIONThe cervical flexion F-waves have significant regular changes compared to the cervical neutral F-waves in patients with Hirayama diseases, especially maximal and average amplitudes of F-waves.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2007;24(5):1073-1078
This paper presents our work on the research process of virtual articulator simulation. Firstly, plaster models of upper jaw and low jaw are measured by 3D-optical measuring system and processed to get the available data. Secondly, complex physical modeling of the jaw motion is simplified and decomposed to a series of position transform, such as translation, rotation, etc.. Thirdly, opening/closing movement and laterotrusion is simulated by real-time updating display. Fourthly, the efficient collision detection algorithm is applied to dynamically compute occlusal contact regions and cutaway view. Finally, the current shortage of the virtual articulator simulation is discussed in detail and research prospect is forecasted.
