Objective To study the value of RDW in severity evaluation and prognostic assessment of COPD. Methods Retrospective study was carried out on 115 COPD patients and 50 healthy controls. Blood routine, CRP, IL-6 data were collected on admission aiming at analyzing RDW difference in patients and controls, severity, severity grading and evaluation of prognosis. Results The level of CRP, RDW, IL-6 and WBC in patients were higher than that of healthy controls(P < 0.05). Mild and moderate groups have no significant difference from each other in terms of RDW, CRP and IL-6 conparison, but the difference between any other two groups were significant. There were significant positive correlation between RDW and CRP, IL-6, and negative correlations between the post-bronchodilator FEV1% and RDW. The mortality rate for patients with higher RDW level was higher than those with normal RDW. Conclusion Elevated RDW levels on admission are associated with severity of patients with COPD. RDW may be a prognostic marker for COPD.

Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition 1997;0(01):-
At present, the immunological tolerance in transplantation induced by multi-mechanisms, to inhibit the chronic graft rejection, represents an important trend in the field of transplantation. This review summarizes the new researches about immune and non-immune factors in this field. At the same time, this review also discusses that the high-dose vitamin E, through changing the ratio of Th/Ts in vivo and not improving the level of specific-antibody, regulates the immune system. In addition, the potent antioxidation of vitamin E has advantage to release the oxidate press of tissue and the damage of blood vessels. In the end, the reporter prospects the signification of vitamin E to inhibit the chronic graft rejection and points out the potential questions.

Objective Preparation of specific antibody of neuron protein 14 3 3 and application for the diagnosis of prion diseases. Methods The rabbits were immunized with prokaryotic expressed GST 14 3 3 fusion protein and the collected antiserum was evaluated by ELISA and Western blot assays. Results ELISA revealed that the reactive titer of the prepared antibody against purified 14 3 3 protein was up to 1:4 096 000; Western blot assays confirmed that both prokaryotic expressed, and the natively presenting 14 3 3 proteins in the brain extracts were recognized by the prepared antibody. Two cases of clinically diagnosed Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (CJD)with typical EEG changes showed the positive 14 3 3 protein in cerebral spinal fluid (CSF). Four patients with dementia and narcoma but without typical EEG change were 14 3 3 negative in CSF,three of them being even further tested by brain biopsies without typical histological change of CJD and presentation of protease resistant PrP Sc protein. 35 samples CFS collected from patients without dementia were 14 3 3 negative in CSF. All the results were the same as that of standard 14 3 3 polyclonal antibody. Conclusion Using purified prokaryotic expressed GST 14 3 3 fusion protein as antigen, the specific antibody was elicited in the immunized animals. The prepared antibody can be used in identification of 14 3 3 protein in CSF for the diagnosis of CJD.

Chinese Mental Health Journal 1992;0(01):-
Objective:To study memory changes in patients with non-demented Parkinson disease(PD) without depression. Methods:The Nissen Version(serial reaction time task,SRTT) software(as a task of procedural learning),the WMS-CR and two tasks of implicit memory were applied in 16 PD patients(Hoehn-Yahr score I~Ⅱdegrees).Normal controls enrolled for the Nissen Version either. Results In the explicit WMS-CR and the implicit(word stem completion and degraded picture naming) tasks, the patients' scores fell within normal limits(Memory Quotient 97.1?10.6).In the SRTT,normal control group displayed significantly reduced response times(F=2.54,P=0.008) and error rates(3.2 ?0.9% to 6.8 ?2.7%,t=-2.08,P=0.045) across the blocks of repeated sequence trials.By contrast,PD patients only showed a reduction in error rates(4.7?2.0% to 3.7?1.8%,t=-2.15,P=0.038) but no change in response times. Conclusion:Impairment of nigrostriatal pathways selectively affects performance in visuo-motor learning tasks such as the SRTT,but not in the explicit tasks of WMS-CR and the implicit tasks such as word stem completion and degraded picture naming.
