BACKGROUND: The preventative capabilities of enamel demineralization, rising from the fixed orthodontic treatment, have drawn tremendous attention in recent years. Despite a variety of investigations carried out by both domestic and foreign scholars, whereas, the results of ways to reduce the incidence of demineralization are never fully satisfactory or unified. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the inhibitory effect of Fluor protector on enamel demineralization based on clinical practices during fixed orthodontic treatment.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Contrast observation was performed in the Department of Stomatology, Qingdao Second Sanatorium, Jinan Military Area Command of Chinese PLA from January 2006 to January 2009. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 132 participants (856 teeth, aged 7-18 years, average age 10.5 years, 76 females and 56 males), who had wall-developed hardened dental tissues, no tetracycline pigmentation teeth, no dental fiuorosis, or anything that constricted in their teeth, were involved in the study. And all subjects were volunteers who had signed the informed consent form and agreed to receive dental treatment and periodic review.METHODS: All the teeth were randomly divided into two groups: experimental and control groups. Teeth for the experimental group were bonded with the supporting brackets with the Fluor protectors, whereas teeth for the control group did basically the same only without the Fluor protectors. After the fixed orthodontic treatment, the supporting devices were removed, all the teeth were fully washed, and then the conditions of the tooth surfaces were observed and documented in both experimental and control groups.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The detection rate of orthodontic enamel demineralization in the two groups alter the fixed orthodontic treatment.RESULTS: After evaluation of the results of both groups, the incidence rate of enamel demineralization in the experimental group (5.51%) was obviously lower than control group (15.1%).CONCLUSION: Fluor protector has a significantly positive effect on preventing enamel demineralizaUon dudng fixed orthodontic treatment.

Objective:To establish a method of multi-PCR to amplify the complete DNA sequence (CDS) of TCR ? and ? chain of the antigen-specific T lymphocytes in local pathologic specimen of active pulmonary tuberculosis patients, and to analyze ?/? T cell receptor gene rearrangement and CDR3 repertoire. Methods:The lymphocytes in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) of active pulmonary tuberculosis patients were separated. Following total RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, Multi-PCR, recombinant clones construction, and sequencing, the CDS of TCR ? and ? chains from these lymphocytes were analyzed by using software of DNAstar and internet TCR resources.Results:24 of ? chain CDS and 13 of ? chain CDS from 3 samples of BAL were obtained. As for TCR ? chain, AV1S2 (54%), AV12S3 (41%), and AV12S2(5%) appeared frequently. BV2(38%), BV29S1(46%), BV14(3%), and BV4S2(3%) in TCR ? chain appeared more often. There were CDR3 diversities between samples and even in the same sample by amino acid sequence analysis, but there were a few identical or similar amino acid sequences. There was the same amino acid sequence of SVGTGTLHQETQY in CDR3 region of ? chain of BAL sample No.1 and No.2; The sequence of AVRDWAGNMLT appeared in two ? chains of BAL sample No.2 and No.3; Moreover, the sequence of AV…DNN…RLM appeared in ? chains of BAL sample No.2 and No.3.Conclusion:A method of Multi-PCR is used to amplify TCR ? and ? chain CDS of tuberculosis patients. There are characteristic T cell clones to proliferate, with TCR ? and ? chain repertiore skewing in local infective focus. The sequences of CDR3 in different TCR clones are mostly different but there are a few identical or similar sequences in the same patient or even between different patients. The identical amino acid sequences of CDR3 are possibly specific for recognizing MTB polypeptide.

Objective: To investigate the effects of lycopene on T lymphocyte subpopulations and pulmonary alveolar macrophagic (PAM) functions in rats with acute lung injury (ALI). Methods: Rats were randomly divided into the following groups. (1) Control group, (2) ALI model group, (3) Low dose group, (4) Mid dose group and (5) High dose group. Control group and ALI model group were treated with solvent of lycopene, and the other groups were gastrically incubated with lycopene. Thirty-five days later, control group were given physiological saline, ALI model group and lycopene administrated groups were injected with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (6.0 mg/kg) to induce ALI. One hour, four hours or six hours after LPS or physiological saline challenged, abdominal aorta blood for measuring lymphocyte subpopulations and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid for measuring function of PAM were gathered respectively. Results: (1) At h 1, the percentages of CD3+,CD4+ and CD8+ of lycopene administrated groups compared with control group were not significantly different. At h 4, the percentage of CD4+ was similar to that at h 1. As for the percentages of CD3+, except high dose group [(28.8?9.9)%] was significantly lower, low dose, mid dose and ALI model group showed no significant difference compared with control group[(39.5?4.5)%]. The percentages of CD8+ of ALI model and lycopene administrated rats, separately (10.2?3.9)%,(10.3?2.8)%,(9.8?2.8)%,(10.1?3.5)%, had been significantly reduced compared with control group[(15.1?2.5)%]; between ALI model and lycopene ad-ministrated groups there was no significant difference. The instance at h 6 was the same as that at h 4. The percentage ratios of CD4+ T-lymphocyte to CD8+ T-lymphocyte of ALI model rats were not significantly different compared with control group or lycopene administrated groups at h 1 and h 6. At h 4, the ratio of the CD4 + and CD8 + in Low dose and Mid dose groups had significant difference and ALI model, high dose hadn’t when they were compared with control group. (2) Lycopene increased the phagocytic function of PAMs significantly at h 1(P

Objective:To investigate the value of quantitative CT (QCT) body component parameters before and after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) as prognostic indicator for patients with hepatic cell carcinoma (HCC).Methods:Retrospective analysis was performed on 40 patients with advanced HCC who received TACE treatment in Anhui Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Anhui Medical University from November 2013 to May 2017, all of them received QCT scanning before and after treatment. The information were recorded, including gender, age, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), TNM stage, liver function Child-Pugh grade, portal venous thromboembolism, cirrhosis, maximum tumor diameter, tumor type, and frequency of interventional therapy. QCT parameters were measured before and after treatment, including L1, L2 bone mineral density (BMD), L3-level paravertebral muscle area (MA), subcutaneous fat area (SFA) and visceral fat area (VFA), and the change rate of QCT parameters (ΔBMD, ΔMA, ΔSFA, ΔVFA) before and after TACE were calculated after the QCT scan interval was standardized. The cut-off values of ΔBMD, ΔMA, ΔSFA and ΔVFA to diagnose the prognosis of HCC patients after TACE were obtained by drawing the ROC curves. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate the survival rate, the Log-rank method was used for univariate analysis, and the Cox regression analysis model was used for multivariate analysis to screen out independent factors affecting the prognosis of HCC patients after TACE.Results:ROC curve analysis showed that the cut-off values of ΔBMD, ΔMA, ΔSFA and ΔVFA to diagnose the prognosis of HCC patients after TACE were -8.64%, -6.84%, -9.84% and 5.70%, respectively. Univariate analysis showed that AFP, TNM stage, liver function Child-Pugh grade, portal venous thrombosis, tumor type and ΔMA, ΔSFA, ΔVFA had statistically significant effects on prognosis ( P<0.1). Multivariate analysis showed that ΔMA, ΔVFA and portal venous thromboembolism were independent influencing factors for the prognosis of HCC patients after TACE treatment ( P<0.05). Conclusions:ΔMA, ΔVFA and portal venous thromboembolism have reference value for prognosis assessment of TACE treatment for HCC patients, and QCT body composition analysis is helpful to evaluate the prognosis of HCC patients.
