Objective To establish a method for determining the content of Naringin and Hesperidin in Zengshi Keli by HPLC. Methods The Kromasil C18 column with acetonitrile-water-phosphoric acid (20∶80∶0.02) as the mobile phase was used. The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min, the detective wavelength was 283 nm, the temperature of column is 35 ℃. Results The calibration curve were linear in the range of 0.178 5~0.892 5 ?g for Naringin and 0.073 68~0.368 4 ?g for Hesperidin (r=0.999 9) respectively. The average recovery was 97.24% (RSD=1.21%) and 96.95% (RSD=1.49%) respectively. Conclusion The method was simple, accurate, reproducible and can be used for quality control of Zengshi Keli.

OBJECTIVE:To establish the Microbial limit test(MLT) for Danggui funing drop pills.METHODS:The recovery rates of 5 tested strains treated by Danggui funing drop pills were detected and the MLT method for the control bacteria was validated.RESULTS: Danggui funing drop pills exhibited strong inhibitory effect on staphylococcus aureus and bacillus subtilis, but showed no effect on escherichia coli, candida albicans and aspergillus niger.CONCLUSION: By membrane-filter procedure, the antibacterial effect of Danggui funing drop pills can be eliminated and the bacterial count can be conducted;however,by routine method, the test of control bacteria is feasible.

Objective To observe the changes of bone mineral density (BMD) in young boys and girls from 6-19 years old in Beijing area. Methods 1 139 healthy young boys and girls undergoing whole body scanning with dual energy X-ray bone densitometer were divided into different groups according to sex and age. Results There were no significant difference in body height, weight, BMD and bone mineral contents (BMC) between boys and girls from 6 to 10 years old. The annual growth rates of body height, BMD, and BMC were the fastest in girls from 6 to 14 and boys from 6 to 16 years old, respectively. Thereafter, the annual growth rates of body height, BMD, and BMC didn't significantly increase in boys and girls. There were two fast-growth periods in BMD growth stage, being at 11 and 14 years old in girls, and at 12 and 15 years old in boys. The total body BMD was significantly correlated with the height in girls under 12 years (P

Objective:To explore the effect of virtual reality (VR)-based baduanjin exercise on the cognition, physical functioning and life quality of elderly persons with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).Methods:Fifty-seven mildly impaired elderly persons were randomly divided into an observation group ( n=29) and a control group ( n=28). Both groups were given routine care and health education in their nursing homes, while the observation group additionally performed 50 minutes of VR baduanjin exercise three times a week for 24 weeks. Both groups were assessed using the Montreal cognitive assessment (MoCA), the Rivermead behavioural memory test (second edition) (RBMT-Ⅱ), a digit-symbol substitution test (DSST) and the Trail Making Test (TMT). The short physical performance battery (SPPB) and Alzheimer′s disease quality of life (QOL-AD) instrument were also administered before and after the 24-week intervention. Results:After the intervention the average MoCA, RBMT-Ⅱ, DSST, TMT-A, SPPB and QOL-AD results of the observation group were all significantly better than before the intervention and better than the control group′s averages. The observation group also performed better on the 5 times sit-to-stand test, the tandem standing test and a walking speed test after the intervention.Conclusions:VR-based baduanjin practice can effectively improve the cognition and physical functioning of mildly impaired elderly persons, as well as improving their quality of life.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2009;26(1):162-172
The aim of this experiment is to find a feasible impersonal index for analyzing the physiological mental fatigue level. Three characteristic parameters, relative power in different rhythm, barycenter frequency and power spectral entropy, are extracted from two channels' electroencephalogram (EEG) under two physiological mental fatigue states. Then relationships between such three parameters and physiological mental fatigue are analyzed to explore whether they can be of use for detecting (or monitoring) the mental fatigue level. The experiment results show that the relative power, barycenter frequency and power spectral entropy of EEG exhibit strong correlation with physiological mental fatigue level. While physiological mental fatigue level increases, the relative power in theta, alpha and beta rhythms, barycenter frequency and power spectral entropy of EEG decrease, but the relative power in delta rhythm of EEG increases. The relative power in four rhythms, barycenter frequency and power spectral entropy of EEG reflect the change of physiological mental fatigue level sensitively, and may hopefully be used as indexes for detecting physiological mental fatigue level.

Objective To investigate regional spontaneous brain activity in mild cognition impairment (MCI) patients with amnesic (aMCI) and non-amnesic (naMCI).Methods Twenty-five aMCI patients,21 naMCI patients and 15 normal controls (NC) underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging. The regional homogeneity (ReHo) map of the whole brain was obtained by calculating the similarity of each voxel with its nearest 26 voxel time series. The differences of ReHo map across the whole brain among three groups were compared. Results In aMCI group,ReHo values were lower in right frontal lobe and higher in left middle temporal gyrus and left cerebellum compared with NC (P<0.05,Alphasim correction). In naMCI group,ReHo values were higher in anterior cingulate cortex and right middle frontal gyrus and lower in right parahippocampa gyrus, right middle temporal gyrus as well as right precuneus compared with NC (P<0.05,Alphasim correction).Compared with naMCI,the ReHo values were significantly higher in left prefrontal gyrus, left middle temporal gyrus and lower in right cerebellum (P<0.05,Alphasim correction). Conclusion There are differences in spontaneous brain activity of left prefrontal gyrus, left middle temporal gyrus and right cerebellum between aMCI and naMCI,which may be used to differentiate brain function between aMCI and naMCI patients.
