1.Evaluation of Reference Planes Related to Wits Appraisal Measurement

Objective To investigate the reliability and validity of three reference planes used in Wits appraisal measurement in evaluation of sagittal jaw relationship. Methods Lateral cephalo-radiography was performed before and after treatment in 25 patients with class Ⅱ division 1 of four premolars extraction. Wits appraisals were measured using the functional occlusal plane(FOP), bisected occlusal plane(BOP), and maxillary-mandibular bisector (MMB), respectively. The effect of different reference planes on Wits appraisals was analyzed. Results FOP and BOP showed a statistically significant change in their cant after treatment(P0.05). 2.Adsorption Properties of Vat Blue RSN by the Fiber Containing Amidoxime Groups-Fe(Ⅲ)

Objective To find new methods to control the pollution of dye,the law of adsorption and adsorption kinetics of vat blue RSN by amidoxime fiber were studied. Methods The amidoxime-Fe(Ⅲ) adsorption fiber was made from PAN fiber containing amidoxime groups reaction with Fe3+. The adsorption of vat blue in the aqueous solution on the amidoxime-Fe(Ⅲ) adsorption fiber was studied. The reaction order was determined by infinitesimal calculus,based on the relationship between the adsorption time and the concentration of vat blue. The activation energy was obtained by the rate constant of different temperature and the Arrhenius equation. Results The results of adsorption showed the optimal condition:pH was 10.5,the temperature was 45 ℃ and adsorption time was 80 min. The absorption was accorded with the Freundlich isotherm and the character of the first-order reaction. Conclusion The process of vat blue RSN adsorption by amidoxime fiber is simple and the raw materials of amidoxime fiber is very cheap,so it may be expected to apply to the industrial wastewater treatment

Specimens from 12 cases of pancreatic endocrine tumors were investigated by light and electron microscopy and immunohistochemical staining. Pancreatic stem cell-like cells with special characteristics of pancreatic stem cell were found in the proliferating small ductules and dispersed at the margins of pancreatic endocrine tumors in all the cases studied.

X-box binding protein -1(XBP-1)is a newly found protein that plays significant roles in protein folding and endoplasmic reticulum construction .The expression of XBP-1 is widely displayed in various kinds of tumor and is shown to take part in tumorigenesis and tumor progression .This review briefly summarizes the biology of XBP-1 and focuses on recent findings concerning its role in immune evasion ,tumorigenesis ,devel-opment of cancer ,angiogenesis ,hypoxia ,invasion and metastasis .

s:Apoptosis, also known as programmed cell death, is a gene controlled active cell suicide process in order to maintain balance of organisms. Apoptosis is mainly mediated through three signal pathways, including the endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, and death receptor. As a kind of naphthoquinone compounds and one of the main active ingredients of Lithospermum, shikonin has many biological activities, and its anti-cancer research is recent hot spot. The anti-cancer mechanism of shikonin is closely related with apoptosis and three kinds of signaling pathways. This article reviewed the research progress in apoptosis and signal pathways induced by shikonin.
6.Comparison of multi-level puncture versus single-level puncture percutaneous vertebroplasty for treatment of multiple-level osteoporotic vertebral body compression fractures in senile patients

Objective To compare the curative effects of multi-level puncture versus single-level puncture percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP) for treatment of multiple-level osteoporotic vertebral body compression fractures(OVCF) in senile patients.Methods From June 2008 through November 2014,89 senile patients with fresh multiple-level OVCF underwent PVP guided by C-arm fluoroscopy in prone position.Of them,51 received PVP in which the vertebrae of multiple levels were simultaneously punctured for bone cement injection while the other 38 received PVP in which the vertebrae of multiple levels were punctured one by one for bone cement injection.The 2 groups were compatible with no significant differences in preoperative demographic data (P > 0.05).The 2 groups were compared in terms of visual analgesic scale (VAS),operation time for a single vertebra,fluoroscopy times for a single vertebra,bone cement injection amount for a single vertebra,and extraosseous cement leakage.Results PVP procedures were successful in both groups without serious complications.The VAS scores in both groups at 2 days post-operation were significantly lower than those at pre-operation(P < 0.05).The operation time and fluoroscopy times for a single vertebra in the multi-level puncture PVP group were significantly less than those in the single-level puncture PVP group (P < 0.05).There were no significant differences between the 2 groups in bone cement injection amount for a single vertebra or extraosseous cement leakage (P > 0.05).Conclusions The curative effects of multi-level puncture and single-level PVP are satisfactory for senile OVCF,but multi-level puncture PVP may lead to less operation time and less X-ray exposure.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of ethanol extracts of Solanum lyratum on apoptosis of SGC-7901 cells and the mRNA expression of apoptosis associated genes Fas and caspase-3.METHODS:SGC-7901 Cells were cultured in vitro and randomly divided into the contral group,ethanol extracts of S.lyratum treatment groups(2.5 mg?mL-1,5 mg?mL-1,10 mg?mL-1) and cisplatin group.The proliferation inhibitory rate was evaluated by MTT assay.Morphological changes and apoptosis of SGC7901 cells were observed under fluorescence microscope.The mRNA expression of Fas gene and caspase-3 were detected by semi-quantitive RT-PCR method.RESULTS: As compared with control group,the cell proliferation inhibitory rate and apoptosis rate of SGC-7901 cells were increased obviously in S.lyratum treatment groups(P
8.Effect of Laparoscopic Repair of Inguinal Hernia on the Serum Levels of Cytokine IL-6,IL-10,and CRP in Children

Objective To explore the changes of CRP,IL-6,and IL-10 levels after laparoscopic or open repair of inguinal hernia in children.Methods Fifty children with inguinal hernia were randomly assigned to laparoscopic repair or open surgery groups(25 in each).In the laparoscopic group(LS group),the hernia sac was closed by ligating the inner ring,while in the open surgery group(OS group),high ligation was performed.The peripheral blood samples of the two groups were collected one day before,immediately after,and one day after the operations.ELISA was used to detect the levels of CRP,IL-6,and IL-10.Results In both the groups,the levels of CRP,IL-6,and IL-10 were significantly increased immediately after the surgeries(LS Group:q=8.508,11.307,and 22.111,P0.05),while in the OS group,the levels remained significantly higher(q=3.845,10.599,and 11.379,P
9.?-Lactamases Produced by Gram Negative Bacilli in Hospital Infections or Community Acquired Infections: Comparison of Antibiotic Resistance and Distribution

OBJECTIVE To investigate the resistance rates of Gram negative bacilli and the distribution of ?-lactamases in hospital infections(HI) or community acquired infections(CAI) in Tongling.METHODS Antimicrobial(susceptibility)(test) was done on 356 strains of Gram negative bacilli isolated in Tongling from Oct 2003 to Sep 2004 by Kirby-Bauer method.The detection of ESBLs and AmpC ?-lactamases was performed by three-dimensional test,MBL by the double-disk synergy test.RESULTS Among total 356 strains of Gram negative bacilli,267 were with HI(53.9%) isolated from sputum of patients,89(34.8%) were(isolated) from CAI patients and urine.The antimicrobial susceptibility rates of Gram negative bacilli from CAI patients was significantly higher than that from HI patients,for Acinetobacter baumannii they were 1.5 to 3.0,for(Pseudomonas aeruginosa) were 1.2 to 1.6.No strains of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae were found resistant to imipenem.Among 356 Gram negative bacilli,77 strains hyperproducing ESBLs and AmpC ?-lactamases,the detection rate was 21.6%, 69 strains were isolated from HI patients,and 8 strains were from CAI patients.From strains resistant to imipenem had 13 strains detected MBL,the detection rate was 52.0%.All of them were isolated from HI patients.CONCLUSIONS The resistance of Gram negative(bacilli) is a serious problem in Tongling.The antimicrobial(susceptibility) rates of Gram negative bacilli from CAI patients are significantly higher than those from HI patients.Gram negative bacilli produce all kinds of(?-lactamases,) such as ESBLs,AmpC(?-lactamases) and MBL.
10.Study on intestinal probiotics for the prevention of recurrent liver cirrhosis spontaneous bacterial peritonitis

Objective To explore the risk factors and the recurrence of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis after taking intestinal probiotics.Methods Fifty-six patients with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis were randomly divided into control group and probiotics group,and each group were 28 cases.Patients in control group were treated by regular hepatoprotective drug,while in probiotics group were administrated with Jinshuangqi orally,every time 0.5 g × 4 tablets,2 times a day besides regular hepatoprotective drug.The course of the treatment was for 3 months.The symptoms and other risk factors,and the relief time were recorded.Results Incidence of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in probiotics group and control group were 21.4% and46.4% respectively(x2 =3.784,P < 0.05).Rate of gastric ulcer were 17.9% and 42.9% respectively and the difference was significant(x2 =4.139,P < 0.05).The relief time of fever in probiotics group was (2.52 ± 0.78) d,lower than that of control group ((4.21 ± 1.34) d,t =2.029,P < 0.05).Meanwhile the relief time of abdominal tenderness was (4.02 ± 0.96) d in probiotics group,and (6.34 ± 1.27) d in control group (t =2.433,P < 0.05).Conclusion Intestinal probiotics treatment can significantly reduce the recurrence rate of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis,shorten the relief time of each symptom and reduce the incidence of other risk factors.
