1.A study on effects of sodium selenite, hyaluronidase and anisodamine on infarction size and left ventricular myocardial contractility and relaxation in rat with myocardial infarction
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(02):-
The present study compared effects of sodium selenite(Se), hyaluronidase (Hy) and anisodamine(An) on infarction size(IS), left ventricular myocardial contractility (LVMC) and relaxation(LVMR) on the third day after the ligation of left coronary artery in rats. The results showed that Se, with the dose of 30?g/kg/day either before or after the ligation, has a same effect on reducing IS as Hy and An. However, Se, at the same time, can significantly improve LVMC and LVMR, which were evalued by indexes of LVSP, ?dp/dtmax and T value, while Hy and An can not. It is suggested that Se is superior to Hy and An when they are used in treatment of acute myocardial infarction.
2.Effects of sex hormones on myocardial infarction size and left ventricular myocardial contractility and relaxation in rats
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(03):-
Effects of sex hormones on infarction size(IS) and left ventricular myocardial contractility and relaxation (LVMC, LVMR) in rats after left coronary occlusion in order to make a model of myocardial infarction(MI) were studied. Male adult rats were randomly divided into 3 groups, and pre-treated respectively with testosterone propionate(10mg/kg), oestradioli benzoatis(500?g/kg), or vehicle (0.sml/kg) for 3 weeks (3 times per week) before MI. The injection was continued after MI, on 9th of MI indexes of LVMC and LVMR, IS and the levels of sex hormones were measured. The results showed that: (1) IS were nor affected by both testosterone and oestradiol. (2) Indexes of LVMC and LVMR, i. e. dp/dtmax, LVSP and -dp/dtmax, were lightly inhibited by hyperoestrogencmia(HE), the increasing rate of body weight (IRBW) before and after MI were significantly inhibited by HE. However, indexes of LVMC and LVMR were significantly improved by hypertestosteronemia(HT), but IRBW were not affected by HT. (3) It is interested to note that there was a significant positve correlation between the level of plasma testosterone and indexes of LVMC and LVMR, and an inversive correlation between the level of oestradiol and indexes of LVMC and LVMR, suggesting sex hormones really pay a rolein the pathophysiological process of MI.

The resection can be performed in about 20 percent of patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma(PHC) in clinic. However, with the development of interventional treatment such as transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE), better therapeutic effect has been achieved by two-stage resection such as TACE in patients with unresectable PHC. At present, surgical resection is still regarded as the first choice of PHC, and the principle of comprehensive therapeutic solutions around surgical operation has been established. The pretreatment of TACE is an important measure to improve the therapeutic effect in PHC.This paper discussed the mechanism, effect and value of TACE in pretreatment of unresectable PHC. The selection of operative opportunity, sign, and ways after TACE and the factors affecting prognosis of two-stage resection were also reviewed.

AIM: The present study was designed to examine the effect of Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination on blood pressure, nitric oxide (NO) production and iNOS expression in hypertensive rats. METHODS: Renal hypertension (RH) were made by renal artery stenosis in SD rats and the sodium induced hypertensive (SH) rats were made by feeding the rats with high sodium chloride diet (5 g NaCl/100 g food). After four weeks, the hypertensive animals were subjected to the experiment. All the rats were vaccinated with BCG (0.1 mL, i.d) and blood pressure were examined every week. Greiss reaction was used to measure the urinary NO excretion and Western blot was applied to probe the iNOS protein expression in aortic tissue. RESULTS: It was shown that one week after BCG vaccination, the blood pressure decreased significantly in hypertensive rats induced by NaCl-overloading and renal artery stenosis, but not in normotensive control rats. Furthermore, the hypotensive effect of BCG vaccination was enhanced by co-administration of L-arginine. A significant increase in NO production was observed in hypertensive rats. Also, Western blot showed BCG vaccination led to an obvious increase in iNOS expression in the aortic tissue of hypertensive, but not of normal control rats. CONCLUSION: BCG vaccination could lower the blood pressure of hypertensive rats through activation of iNOS/NO pathway.
