1.Cyclic polydimethylsiloxane for diabetic retinopathy:a 6-month follow-up on changes of the optic nerve

BACKGROUND:In the clinical treatment of diabetic retinopathy, the therapeutic effects of different filers on the retina and optic nerve after the removal of the vitreous are lack of comprehensive and detailed reports. OBJECTIVE:To observe the changes of retina and optic nerve in patients with diabetic retinopathy after filing cyclic polydimethylsiloxane. METHODS: Totaly 147 patients with diabetic retinopathy undergoing vitreous removal were enroled, including 77 males and 70 females, aged 35to70 years. The vitreous from 74 patients with diabetic retinopathy was filed with cyclic polydimethylsiloxane (test group). The cyclic polydimethylsiloxane was taken out at 3 months post-operation. The vitreous from another 73 patients with diabetic retinopathy was filed with the whole fluorine propane (control group). The changes of retina, optic nerve, intraocular pressure, and the occurrence of vitreous re-hemorrhage and cataract after operation were observed in these two groups. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: After 7 days of folow-up, the intraocular pressure of patients in the test group was higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After 6 months of folow-up, there was no significant difference in the intraocular pressure between these two groups. After 6 months of folow-up, cyclic polydimethylsiloxane was successfuly removed in the test group, retinal blood vessels became thinning with the presence of white sheath, and the number of optic nerves was higher than the control group (P < 0.05). The incidence of vitreous re-hemorrhage and cataract in the test was higher than the control group (P < 0.05). These results demonstrate that after the removal of the vitreous, cyclic polydimethylsiloxane filing can lead to optic atrophy in patients with diabetic retinopathy.
2.Myocardial protective effects of recombinant human erythropoietin pretreatment on patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass

Objective To investigate the myocardial protective effects ,mechanism and safety of recombinant human erythropoie-tin(rHuEPO) pretreatment in the patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) .Methods Thirty pa-tients with rheumatic heart disease undergoing valve replacement surgery were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group ,15 cases in each group .The observation group was given rHuEPO 300IU/kg by hypodermic injection on preoperative 2 d ,once daily for twice .The control group was given the same dose of normal saline .The blood routine was performed before sur-geryandonpostoperative7d.Thelevelsofcreatinekinaseisoenzyme(CK-MB)andtroponinT(cTnT)weredetectedbeforeopera-tion ,at 6 ,24 ,72 h after the aorta opening (T0 ,T6 ,T24 ,T72 ) .At the end of CPB ,myocardial biopsy was conducted for detecting the myocardial apoptosis index (AI) .The CPB time ,aortic cross clamp(ACC) time ,postoperative ICU stay ,blood transfusion and post-operative complications were recorded .Results The level of postoperative CK-MB and cTnT in the two groups were significantly increased after the aorta opening ,which at T6 was highest ,followed by a downward trend .The levels of CK-MB and cTnT at vari-ous time points in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group .The main effect of rHuEPO pre-treatment had statistical difference between the two groups (P= 0 .01) .Myocardial AI in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group ,the difference showing statistical significance (P<0 .01) .The observation group had no risk leading to obviously increase postoperative Hb ,Hct values and thromboembolism ,but the postoperative blood transfusion amount was reduced .Conclusion rHuEPO pretreatment has the protective effect on myocardium in the patients undergoing cardiac surgery under CPB ,which can reduce myocardial apoptosis and has safe reliability .
3.Report on Sanitary Assessment on Finished Water From Seawater Desalination Plant in Dachangshan Island of Changhai County

Objective To assess the sanitary quality of finished water produced by seawater desalination plant.Methods Using reverse osmosis for seawater desalination,the microbiological indexes,the levels of chloride and the pH values of finished water after seawater desalination were determined and then were assessed based on the National Method for Determination of Drinking Water(GB 5750-1985).Results After seawater desalination,the level of fluoride in finished water was 426 mg/L,the total count of bacteria of 3 finished water samples among 9 samples exceeded the standedard(350,300,4016/L),the pH valuer were qualified on the whole,except one lower value of 5.74 and a higher value of 8.94.Conclusicn After the treatment by seawater desalination system,the level of residual chloride in finished water was higher which approached the related highest limit ruled by National Sanitary Standard for Drinking Water,the microbiological indexes and pH values of finished water were unstable.
4.Study on quantitatively detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis ESAT-6 antigen by using near-infrared fluorescent dye-immunomagnetic beads coupling method

Objective To establish a near‐infrared fluorescent dye‐immunomagnetic beads coupling method for quantitative de‐tection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis early secretory antigenic target‐6(ESAT‐6) .Methods Near‐infrared fluorescent dye ,dylight 800 ,was used to mark ESTA‐6‐targeting monoclonal antibodies ,and the surface of nano‐magnetic beads were coated with ESAT‐6‐targeting polyclonal antibodies .Double antibody sandwich method was used for magnetic separation of conjugates and dissociants . Portable high‐sensitivity and low‐noise excitation fluorescence detector was used to detect the intensity of magnetic combination ,so as to test the ESAT‐6 content in test samples .Results The detecting linear range of this method was 2 .4-750 .0 ng/mL ,and the minimum detection limit was 0 .48 ng/mL .The recovery rate was 96% at a concentration of 10 ng/mL ,and at a concentration of 50 ng/mL the recovery rate was 95% .The between‐run coefficient of variation(CV)value was 5 .8% ,and the within‐run CV value was 4 .3% .The specificity and sensitivity of this method for detecting ESAT‐6 in clinical pleural effusion samples were 80% and 95% , respectively .Conclusion This method might have wide linear range ,high sensitivity and good stability in the detection of ESAT‐6 .
5.Sex differences in the length ratios of metapodials in Macaca mulatta from the Taihang mountains

Objective Sex difference of the length ratios of metacarpals and metatarsals in Macaca mulatta from the Taihang mountains was studied in our laboratory. Methods The lengths of 27 metacarpals (10 males, 17 females) and 30 metatarsals(12 males, 18 females) were measured from the skeletons of 30 adult Macaca mulatta. Length ratios were constructed for all possible pairings of the five bones in each individual hand and foot. One-Way ANOVA adopting SPSS13.0 for windows was used to study the sex differences of length ratios of metacarpals and metatarsals. Results For Macaca mulatta, several of these lengths ratios exhibited substantial differences between the sexes. The metacarpal(Mc) length ratios showing the largest sex differences were 2Mc∶5Mc and 4Mc∶5Mc in both hands (P<0.01), and the metatarsal(Mt) length ratios showing the largest sex difference was 1Mt:3Mt in both feet (P<0.05). Conclusion The sex differences of metacarpals and metatarsals remained when specimens of similar size were compared. It showed that body size was not the basis for these sex differences. Various facts suggested that the sex difference of length ratios in primate metapodials was associated with sex hormones exposure, possibly during prenatal development.
6.The Identification of Uygur Medicine Juniperus sabina by DNA Barcode

To establish the DNA barcode identification method of Uygur Medicine Juniperus sabina. Leaves and fruits were selected randomly from different areas to contrast morphology; Ten samples were amplified by ITS2 se-quence, combining with four ITS sequences of Platycladus orientalis obtained from GenBank, intraspecific and inter-specific variation were compared, K2P and NJ methods were utilized for analysising the relationship. The results show J. sabina cannot be distinguished with its adulterants by morphological characteristics of leaves and fruits; 14 Samples of ITS2 sequence length are 219 bp, the maximum K2P distance are 0.089. J. sabina and its 3 adulterants plant can be distinguished by the DNA barcode ITS2 sequence and NJ tree successfully. Therefore, ITS2 barcode sequence was able to identify J. sabina and its adulterants species, which provides an effective way for the molecular identification of Uygur medicine J. sabina.
7.Preliminary study on plasma metabolites of total body irradiation patients

Objective To investigate radiation-related human plasma metabolic features by using metabonomics method and to analyze relative metabolic pathway .Methods The plasma samples of 40 patients pre-and post-total body irradiation (TBI) from January 2012 to May 2014 were collected, and the effect of TBI on human plasma metabolites was studied by gas chromatography mass spectrometry ( GC-MS) , and the differential plasma metabolic features related to irradiation damage were screened . Results The levels of glucose, myristic acid, oxalic acid, 3-hydroxy butyric acid, urea, aspartic acid, valine, leucine, lysine and threonine in plasma were significantly (P<0.05) increased after TBI, while the levels of cholesterol, pyruvic acid, propionic acid, lactic acid, alanine, glycine, inositol, sorbitan, ethylene glycol and hypoxanthine were decreased drastically (P<0.05).Conclusions TBI could cause significant changes in the levels of human plasma metabolites including amino acid metabolism , glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism and so on.
8.Effects of the crude and processed Epimedium Sagittatum Maxim. on castrated mice

AIM: To observe the supplementation action of the crude and processed Epimedium Sapittatum Maxim. METHODS: The effects of different extracts of Epimedium Sagittatum Maxim. on the castrated mice were observed. RESULTS: The aqueous and alcohol extracts of the crude and processed Epimedium Sagittatum maxim. showed same marked inhibition on atrophy of castrated mice. CONCLUSION: The crude and processed Epimedium Sagittatum maxim. both have the supplementation action and show no marked difference in action.

10.CT Manifestations of Progressive Muscular Dystrophy

Objective To observe CT findings of progressive muscular dystrophy(PMD)and to evaluate the diagnostic value of CT.Methods 100 healthy person were selected to measure the muscular density with CT including musculi of neck,back,waist,buttocks and legs,the density of musculi of back,waist,buttocks,and legs in 15 cases with PMD evaluated by comparative study.Results The arerage attenuation value of muscle in 100 healthy adults was 55 HU,while the musculi in the patients with PMD appeared atrophy,fatty degeneration and observable low CT attenuation value.Conclusion CT has important value in diagnosing PMD and help to guide the accurate localizations for biopsies.
