Objective To study gastroscopic features and clinical diagnosis of prepyloric mem-brane. Methods Clinical characteristics, gastroscopic manifestation and operational findings of 18 pa-tients,whose prepyloric membrane have been confirmed by operations, were retrospectively reviewed. Results Gastroscopie findings showed that all the 1 8 patients suffered gastric retention and pyloric obstruc-tion to some degree, with 4 cases of esophageal erosion and/or esophageal ulcer, five cases of erosive hemor-rhagic gastritis, one case of ulcer at gastric antrum, gastric comer and pylorus respectively. There were 2 ca-ses of aperture like narrowing in prepyloric region. And there were 9 cases that showed obvious congestion and edema in the prepyloric mucus, with uniform circular mucusal protrusion around the stenosing stoma, and volcano-like depression in the middle, three cases of which showed mucosal membrane standing out to the gastric cavity. The membrane found in the above 11 cases located in pyloric exit or tube, and they under-went membrane excision and py|oroplasty. The other 7 cases showed thick mucosal folds at the distal antrum with radial arrangement. Round or irregular stenosing stoma were observed. These cases proved to be antral membrane,1-3 cm away from the duodenum and pylorus, and underwent simple membrane resection. Conclusion Congenital prepyloric membrane is rare and it likely mis-diagnosed. The onset and the degree of symptoms depend on the diameter of aperture of the membrane. Early endoscopy,in addition to barium contrast, should be performed on those children who have intermittent bilious vomiting, where false-positive radiological findings can be avoided, therefore,to facilitate right diagnosis and appropriate operation.

Objective: To explore the growth inhibition and apoptosis-inducing effects of apigenin in human gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells. Method: MTT and flowcytometry were used to detect the growth inhibition and cell cycle distribution in apigenin-treated SGC-7901 cells respectively. DAPI fluorescence staining and DNA ladder assay were applied to study the pro-apoptosis effects of apigenin. The expression of apoptosis relative proteins, caspase-3 and Bcl-2, were analyzed by using Western blotting. Results: Apigenin treatment significantly inhibited the growth of human gastric cancer cell SGC-7901 and markedly caused their apoptosis following activation of caspase-3 and downregulation of Bcl-2 protein expression. Conclusion: The activation of caspase-3 and downregulation of apoptosis relative protein Bcl-2 expression were the possible mechanism of apigenin induced growth inhibition and apoptosis in SGC-7901 cells.

Objective To study the architecture of the subpleural pulmonary microvasculature and its functional relationship in the bactrian camel. Methods The replica scanning electron microscopic method was used. Results According to their continuous branches, the subpleural pulmonary microvasculatures were recognized into four grades: arteriole, terminal arteriole, precapillary arteriole and capillary. The subpleural pulmonary capillaries generally came from the subpleural precapillary arteriole and communicated each other to form the subpleural pulmonary capillary network.Sometimes, the subpleural terminal arteriole directly gave rise to capillaries to unite with the subpleural pulmonary capillary network. The network was loose,in which the diameter of the mesh was larger than that of the capillary, and the mesh was often hexagon and pentagon in appearance. There were obvious imprints of the smooth muscles on the surface of the casts of the subpleural pulmonary arteriole, the terminal arteriole and the precapillary arteriole. On the surface of the casts of the subpleural pulmonary capillary, there were obvious imprints of the endothelial nuclei as well.In addition, the broad and different level communications were found among the pulmonary interstitial capillary and subpleural pulmonary microvasculature. Conclusion There were no significant differences on the architecture of the subpleural pulmonary microvasculature between the bactrian camel and other kind of mammals.
