3.Sleep quality and profile of SCL-90 of the patients with cancer
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2005;11(9):737-738
ObjectiveTo explore the sleep quality and psychical health of the patients with cancer.Methods96 cancer patients were tested by Pittsburgh Sleeping Quality Index(PSQI) and Symptom Check List 90 (SCL-90). ResultsThe PSQI scores of the patients with ache were higher than that without ache (P<0.05).Sleep problems were occurred in 87.55% of the patients. Sleep quality of 9.38% of patients were poor. The sleep quality of the male patients were better than those of the female (P<0.05). Apart from interpersonal sensitivity, paranoid ideation and psychoticism, scores of the rest were higher than the general people(P<0.05).10.2% of the patients with cancer had psychical problems. Apart from sleep time and using sleep pill, there was a high correlation between the scores of SCL-90 and PSQI (P<0.05). ConclusionThe results showed that sleep problems of the patients with cancer affected their psychical health.
4.The Clinical Value of 64-row Spiral CT in Diagnosing Early Primary Ureteral Carcimoma
Chinese Journal of Medical Imaging 2010;(1):36-38
Purpose To analyze the 64-row spiral CT manifestations and evaluate the diagnostic value in early primary ureteral carcinoma.Materials and Methods Fifteen cases of early primary ureteral carcinoma proved by surgery and pathology were reviewd.Unenhanced scan, enhanced scan in arterial phase, parenchymal phase, delayed phase and CPR construction were performed in all patients.MIP were performed in 10 cases. Results ① the localization of lesions:7cases were located at the right ureter and 8 cases at the left.2 cases were located at the upper portion of the ureter,6 at mid portion, and 7 at lower portion;② CT manifestations:8 cases showed irregular thickened wall and central lumen stenosis,4 cases eccentric soft tissue mass in lumen and crescent or linear vestigial lumen,3 cases soft tissue density and obsolescent lumen;③the enhanced features:the tumor was demonstrated apparent and uniform enhancement in 13 cases, inhomogeneous enhancement in 2 cases after administration of contrast medium;④ the accompanied signs:proximate renal and ureteral presented distention, dropsy in different degrees,5 cases appeared delayed development. Conclusion 64-row spiral CT volume scan and 3D reconstruction with multiplane and multiorientation, combined with axial enhanced scan, can show lesions dimensionly and increase the dignostic accuracy in early primary ureteral carcinoma, which has an important value.
5.EFFECT OF MAGNESIUM SUPPLEMENTATION ON LIPID PEROXIDATION AND ANTIOXIDATIVE ENZYMES
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(03):-
Objective:The effect of magnesium on lipid peroxidation of endothelial cells induced by H 2O 2 and t bultyl hydroperoxide and subsequent alterations of extracellular superoxide dismutase(EC SOD) and cellular selenium dependent and selenium independent GSH Px were studied. Methods:The extent of cellular lipid peroxides was determined by measuring the formation of TBARS, EC SOD by the method of pyrogallol auto oxidation, and GSH Px by the method of DTNB. Results:The results showed that the formation of TBARS was significantly reduced in the group of H 2O 2+Mg 2+ at doses of 0.3, 0.6, 1.2,and 2.4 mmol/L compared to the group of H 2O 2(P
6.SEM OBSERVATION OF SCALP HAIR FROM NORMAL CHINESE ADULTS AND FETUSES
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1955;0(03):-
Hair from 16 scalps of different ages (from 5 months to 77 years old) have been observed with SEM. The surface ultrastructure of the cuticle of the hair shaft is distinctly seen. The cuticles are arranged like shingles. Their free margins direct toward the end of the hair. The appearance and diameter of the shaft vary from age to age. The hair shaft of fetus is very fine. The cuticles are so broad that a single cuticle may encircle the shaft. They are parallel to each other. The intervals between successive free margins of cuticles are wide. Their free margin is smooth. The hair shaft of a 5-year old child is coarse. The cuticles vary in size. It requires a number of cuticles to encircle the shaft. The free margin becomes jagged and curved with microprotrusions on it. The intervals between free margins of the cuticles vary in width. The hair shaft of the youths is coarser. The cuticles are broad and arranged regularly. The intervals between free margins of the cuticles are comparatively narrow. There are numerous well developed microprotrusions on the free margin. The hair shaft of the middle aged is the coarsest and the intervals between free margins of the cuticles are the narrowest of all. There are less microprotrusions than those of the youths'. They are getting less and less, so that the free margin is partly smooth. Many cracks perpendicular to the free margin appear apparently and much debris fallen from the cuticle is attached to the surface of the the shaft. Sometimes falling of a whole cuticle may be observed. The hair shaft of the aged people is finer than that of the youths'. The intervals between cuticles with loose squamous arrangement are wider than those seen in the young and middle aged people. The free margin is usually smooth with only a few microprotrusions if any. Sometimes big and deep holes may be found on the surface of white hair. It is considered that the diameter of hair shaft, the size and arrangement of cuticles, the characteristic structures of free margin, the number of microprotrusions and with or without small debris attached to or holes appeared on the shaft are all related to age.
7.A comparison of two approaches of endoscopic thyroidectomy
Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery 2001;0(06):-
Objective To compare strong and weak points of two different approaches of endoscopic thyroidectomy and to discuss the complication prevention of endoscopic thyroidectomy. Methods There were 10 cases of breast areola approach endoscopic thyroid surgery(Areola Group) and 11 cases of transcervical approach video-assisted thyroid surgery(Cervical Group). The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, length of hospital stay, and complications between the two groups were compared. Results The operations were completed successfully in all the 21 cases. The operation time was significantly longer in the Areola Group(132.4?39.1 min) than in the Cervical Group(89.2?16.8 min)(t=3.347,P=0.003).The intraoperative blood loss was significantly less in the Areola Group(12.9?4.3 ml) than in the Cervical Group(18.2?5.5 ml)(t=-2.442,P=0.025).The postoperative hospital stay was significantly longer in the Areola Group(4.2?1.0 d) than in the Cervical Group(3.0?0.6 d)(t=3.373,P=0.003).Follow-up observations for 6 months in the 21 cases showed no recurrence of thyroid tumor or occurrence of hypothyroidism. Conclusions Compared with video-assisted thyroidectomy through transcervical approach, breast areola approach endoscopic thyroid surgery has longer operation time, but more satisfactory exposure, fewer complications, and better cosmetic outcomes.
