Clinical Medicine of China 2008;24(6):519-521
Objective To observe the effect and mechanism of nasal continuous positive airway pressure(nCPAP)in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS)with coronary heart disease. Methods 126 OSAHS patients with coronary heart disease were randomly divided into two groups. The treatment group was treated by nCPAP on the basis of former medicine but the control group was treated by former methods.Three months later, polysomnography(PSG)and the holter ECG examination were conducted. Results After three months, the nocturnal myocardial ischemia episodes decreased significantly in both groups(55.6%and 6.35%,P<0.01).Conclusion nCPAP may abolish sleep apnea and hypopnea, correct hypoxemia, reduce the nocturnal mean heart rate and systolic blood pressure, and improve myocardial ischemia episodes,so to reduce the incidence of cardiac end-point events.

Objective To investigate the role of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor PJ34 in regulating blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability and matrix metalloproteinases-9 (MMP-9) expression in a mouse model of traumatic brain injury (TBI).Methods A total of 136 adult male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into sham-operated group, injured group and PJ34-treated group according to the random number table.Controlled cortical impact in mice was established. At 6 and 24hours postinjury, neurological deficit was evaluated, including motor, sensory, reflex and beam balance tests ; BBB permeability and brain water content were detected using Evans blue test and gravimetric technique; brain contusion volume was measured using HE staining; levels of MMP-9 in cytosolic fractions were detected using Western blotting. Results At 6 and 24 hours postinjury, neurological severity score in PJ34-treated group (8.00 ± 0.26,7.50 ±0.25) were lower than those in injured group (12.50 ±0.39,11.80 ± 0.32) ; brain contusion volume in PJ34-treated group [(11.25 ± 0.91) mm3,(13.55 ±1.06) mm3] was lower than those in injured group [(25.37 ± 1.75) mm3,(28.24 ± 1.51) mm3] ; BBB permeability in PJ34-treated group [(440.08 ± 3.10) μg/mg,(860.46 ± 3.86) μg/mg] was lower than those in injured group [(936.96 ± 4.71) μg/mg,(1 302.23 ± 5.89) μg/mg] (all P < 0.01).Brain water content lowered significantly in PJ34-treated group than in injured group at 6 hours postinjury [(80.77 ± 0.76) % vs (82.55 ± 0.73) %,P < 0.0l],but between-group difference was not significant at 24 hours postinjury.Lower levels in MMP-9 were also observed in PJ34-treated group compared with injured group at 6 and 24 hours postinjury(P < 0.05 or 0.01).Conclusion PARP inhibitor PJ34 can attenuate MMP-9 up-regulation,inhibit BBB injury and hence protect the brain against TBI in mice.

A new embedded telemetry system for potentiometric sensors was developed. The system consisted of a transmitter unit, a receiver unit and a personal computer ( PC) . The transmitter unit included a current amplifier, a∑-Δanalog-to-digital converter ( ADC) , a microcontroller unit ( MCU) and a radio module. The receiver unit was composed of a radio module, a microcontroller unit and a serial-to-USB converter module. The receiver unit was connected to an upper computer via a universal serial bus ( USB ) . The embedded software written in C language controlled the signal acquisition and transmission. The computer software written in LabVIEW language was used for data storage and display. The range of the acquisition voltages was from-1. 17 V to +1. 17 V. In order to verify the accuracy and reliability of this system, a control experiment had been done with this system and a digital multimeter. Moreover, a response test of acidity changes had been done with the self-made H+ selective electrode. The results showed that the accuracy of this system could be up to 0. 1 mV and it had strong anti-noise ability. The square of the linear correlation coefficient of the response of the changes in pH values was 0 . 998 . The curve of the results measured by this system was consistent with that measured by the commercial electrochemical analyzer. The system was built with standard hardware components and the size of the transmitter unit was only 29 mm×14 mm×11 mm. It can be easily used for remote and real-time detection for the potentiometric sensor.
5.Research on EEG classification with evolving cascade neural networks.
Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2006;23(2):262-265
To correctly classify EEG with different mental tasks, a new learning algorithm for Evolving Cascade Neural Networks (ECNNs) is described to avoid over-fitting of a neural network due to noise and redundant features. The learning algorithm calculates the value of a fitness function on validate set and accordingly updates the connection weights on training set. The learning algorithm uses the regularity criterion for selecting the neurons with relevant connection. If the value Cr calculated for the rth neuron is less than the value Cr-1 calculated for the previous (r-1) neuron, the features that feed the rth neuron are relevant, else they are irrelevant. An ECNN starts to learn with one input node and then, adding new inputs as well as new hidden neurons, evolves it. The trained ECNN has a nearly minimal number of input and hidden neurons as well as connections. The algorithm is applied to classify EEG with two mental tasks. The trained ECNN has correctly classified 83.1% of the testing segments. It shows a better result, compared with a standard BP network.

Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry 2016;44(9):1465-1470
A new micro embedded telemetry system was developed for the amperometric sensing detection. Its output voltage range was ±0. 5 V and resolution was<1 mV. The current acquisition range was ±1μA and the minimum resolution was 0. 2 nA. This telemetry system was designed based on microprocessor ADuCM360, including a potentiostat, a current detection module and a radio module. And the size was only 24 mm × 13 mm × 11 mm. The computer software written in LabVIEW language was used for data storage and display. In order to verify the accuracy and reliability of this system, an electrical performance test was performed. The current response for ascorbic acid with different concentration was recorded by using the telemetry system. The potential of working electrode was set as 30 mV, and the current response of ascorbic acid electrode had a good linear relationship with its concentration within the concentration range of 50-300 μmol/L. Linear equation was I(nA) = 2. 98CAA(μmol/L)-137. 39, and linear correlation coefficient R2=0. 984. Moreover, the applicability of the instrument in the study for living animals was explored by using the cerebral ischemia as model.

There were 4 307 smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis cases, accounting for 58.71% of all smear-positive cases, and the number of smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis cases showed a tendency towards a rise ( χ2trend=126.320, P<0.001 ), while the proportion of smear-positive cases showed a tendency towards a decline ( χ2trend=21.680, P<0.001 ), with an annual smear-positive rate of 87.14/105. The incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis was 256.94/105 among males and 91.43/105 among females at ages of 60 years and older ( χ2=20.903, P<0.001 ). The highest incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis was seen in patients aged 80 to 84 years ( 235.17/105 ), and farmers were the predominant occupation ( 7 171 cases, 81.92% ), while the highest number of cases was reported in Quzhou City (8 676 cases, 99.11%). There were 7 752 treatment-naïve cases ( 88.55% ), while 5 830 cases with delay in seeking healthcare services, and the proportion of delay in seeking healthcare services showed a tendency towards a rise from 2010 to 2020 ( χ2trend=4.853, P=0.028 ), with an annual mean delay rate of was 66.60%.
Conclusion
The incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis appeared a tendency towards a decline among patients aged 60 years and older in Quzhou City from 2010 to 2020, and the elderly aged 80 years and older and farmers should be paid more attention.
